Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2011 12:41

Happy birthday Master Ollie! Hope you have lots of sunshine and the fire engine cake is a success!!!

FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2011 13:00

exhausted Thanks for posting Houli pics. You look great and the colour is fab too! I am still confused with regards to sizing. The consensus seems to be that you cannot get your normal size, you either have to size up (exhausted and bonsoir) or size down (Trilogy shop girls) Confused. Might order a pair in two sizes and see how it goes.

bloss How annoying about the speeding ticket and such a waste of precious NAP spending money!

notyummy Sorry, not sure about either pair of shoes, but then I'm not a big fan of clogs.

vin Have you already started working? I thought you had another two weeks off? Everything sorted re childcare for DS? Glad you like it though and hope that nose will get better soon.

OWW The Tilly would be a fantastic 40th birthday gift. I got a Longchamp leather bag from DH for my 30th and still use it.

AllBuggiedOut · 24/03/2011 13:40

herecomesthesun is it these? If so I have them in brown so we can hide together! Grin

exhausted you look great in the houlis.

Will check out your e-bay thread roary - I sold my L&L scarf for £36 this weekend (only paid £30!) and lots of old/too big tops. Took over £100 in all for stuff I would never wear again. Love it!

I've decided the Milly is a keeper and I'm 90% certain the Tibi is going back...

blossoming · 24/03/2011 14:07

Well done abo. Are those shoes comfortable? They could be good under boot cut work trousers.

fritzi, what colour houlihans are you after?

carciofi · 24/03/2011 14:20

Fritzi, I agree with sizing up or down. I didn't like them much when I sized down last year. They look great on you, Exhausted. I think I need a navy pair too. Don't know where I think I'm getting all this money from!

We went out to a nice café for lunch (at DD's request). She is wearing some of her new summer clothes and looking pretty cute. Someone told her she looked lovely and she said, "thanks, I know" and wiped her nose on her sleeve :)

ABO, it would be very annoying to pay that much and have the cardigan go baggy. Maybe I'll wait until winter and get a wool one.

carciofi · 24/03/2011 14:35

Sorry, Apuski not ABO, thank you for the Goat info! Have ordered this White Co cardigan instead.

AllBuggiedOut · 24/03/2011 14:45

carciofi Grin

bloss yes, the shoes are comfy. They pass the All Day Shopping Test, and that's from somebody who's rarely out of flats Wink

Would anybody like to help me to find a necklace for my mum to wear with this dress please? Mum's quite petite, size 10/12. Anything chunky would swamp her. She's going to wear the dress to my 40th evening do and it needs glamming up a bit... TIA!

FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2011 16:03

bloss I think I'll go for marine. Or maybe "olympia", which is a very dark navy. Although I'm a bit confused as all houlis are 98% cotton and 2% spandex but the ones in olympia have polyester in too. I think after all these thorough research I could write a thesis on these trousers by now. Smile

carciofi I just love how self-confident children can be!

PORTIA4 · 24/03/2011 16:22

Fritzi We often mix polyester with cotton to prevent fading in our garments in workSmile - The Houlis really were fab on you , you should get them.
Bloss Sorry to hear about speeding ticket, they are so frustrating!

Exhausted you also look great in the Houlis Smile

DD3 starting ballet this afternoon, she is so excited and sweet.

Am absorbing all the wisdom from the ebay thread, and hoping to start selling!

ApuskiDusky · 24/03/2011 16:38

Carciofi, wise choice (and bargain!) - just to make you feel better, have a look at this - this is the cotton one I've got and mine does NOT look like that, so lord knows what they have been doing with it to get it into that shape!

carciofi · 24/03/2011 16:53

Apuski, that cardigan looks dreadful.
Portia, I thought I knew who you were but no idea now. Can you give me a clue?

pickledsiblings · 24/03/2011 17:36

Bloss, I can't believe you got caught speeding. Maybe the gods are trying to tell you not to buy Houlihans Grin. Actually, you would look fantastic in them.

Exhausted, do you have 2 pairs Shock?
They do look really great on you and if I was taller I would have some in a shot. Congrats on passing your test Smile.

Fritzi, I think the darker ones would look fabulous on you.

You've all gone Ebay crazy, I may have to join you.

Roary, have you worn your new dress of fabulousness yet?

blossoming · 24/03/2011 17:52

pickled, yes to not buying houlihans, yes to not spending above my means, yes to not moaning about MIL. I feel suitably chastised, and will have to be careful if I want to keep this job, as I already have 3 points!
See what I mean? About staying in bed?!

carciofi · 24/03/2011 18:00

Portia, Bloss has revealed your identity to me. I can stop wondering now!

Great day going in to work! Really enjoyed it. Managed to leave ds with friend and he didn't cry! So that's freedom in the day too now! Wow only been 15 months. Am working on weekends. My new phrase is 'keep those childcare costs down' Wink Have set up swap with friend.

Sorry am hopeless at moment, got loads of work to do by Monday.

Happy Spring vibes to everyone Smile

notyummy · 24/03/2011 19:49

Carciofi - Love that quote from your DD!

And talking of DDs... If I am absent from the thread for some time it may be because of some indepth interviewing by social services....

DD brought her 'jotter' home from school today to show me, and very proudly read out the 'entries.' There was some stuff about her going to hospital, having lunch in a cafe, doing gymnastics etc.....and then one which read (slightly more phonetically than this...) 'I was eating breakfast. I dropped my cereal everywhere. Mummy SHOUTED. She sent me to the room. The dark room. I was scared. The end.' Shock

'I have never sent you to a dark room' I spluttered. 'Oh, I know,' she replied airily. 'But the real story about dropping the cereal and you getting cross was a bit boring, so I thought I would make much more exciting.'

Hmm
MarshaBrady · 24/03/2011 19:59

Wow that's good NY she is in reception is that right? Good writing!

ReineDeSaba · 24/03/2011 20:05

ny I was telling someone at MOAM how I love the things your DD comes out with..it just gets better Grin

Sounds like a brilliant start to Spring Marsha Well done you..I've definitely lost confidence through losing my career as a SAHM so great to know there can be work again after babies!..and yes!yes! to heels at next MOAM though after your walkabout after the last one, maybe not Shock

portia I am flummoxed by your name change so obviously a good one!

verity loved your links as always..I love pockets on dresses too.I can see apuski in the navy one you linked to.

Am totally out of the houlihan loop...side pockets seem to say Not A Good Thing but you look smoking in them exhausted and well done too on driving test..it's great to have the freedom.

roary · 24/03/2011 20:16

Thanks for appearing on my Ebay thread all! It's brilliant, check it out those tempted by Ebaying :)

Pickled The dress of fabulousness went to a work dinner a couple of days after it was purchased. It was great but my work colleagues are appalling dressers so not that many people noticed!

Marsha glad work was fun.

NY your daughter cracks me up.

Running in en route to bed - busy, busy day! Not read recent posts or links so please don't think I am being rude by not commenting! Will catch up tomorrow.
Was up v late last night making a fire engine bday cake for DS2s bday (4 today). Showed it to him this morning and he turned his nose up and said "thats not what I wanted, I wanted a really big one" - I nearly cried! I, er, forced him to take it into school (by which time he thought it was cool - thank goodness). He had a nice day with some cute presents (highlight - Playmobil Fire Engine!) and was made a fuss of at school. Took him and his best friend to a nice farm park and playground this afternoon and managed to get a red nose from the sun! No need for my LM tinted moisturiser for glowing skin today!

Off for a couple of days away with DH and DSs - staying in a rural holiday park (indoor pool, large outdoor play area, cyclepaths etc) which the boys will love (have packed 3 bottles of cava for DH and I in case its more rustic than we planned!)

FritziGreenEyes · 24/03/2011 22:28

ollie Have fun at holiday park! The cava sounds like a wise strategy Wink

portia Useful information about poly/cotton mixture. Will quote in my Houli thesis!

NY Your DD is so imaginative, you should be proud!

marsha Childcare swap is a good idea. Glad you are enjoying being back at work.

My MIL is here to look after DD tomorrow while I will swan off on early train for author's meeting and will stay in hotel for the night. Have done all the cooking, shopping, laundry for the weekend as we'll also have friends to stay on Sat. I actually enjoy having my MIL around as it feels more relaxed than with my own Mum. Never thought I would say that Hmm.
