Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 23/03/2011 12:47

Sorry haven't read thread. Have been SO stressed about leaving ds or not. Or lose job. Glad don't need to now.

FritziGreenEyes · 23/03/2011 12:54

Welcome herecomesthsun! Please stay and bring lots of sunshine Smile.

notyummy Agree that your DH is a gem. That hotel looks fantastic!

exhausted Congratulations! I like the sound of your outfit! I can still remember what I wore to my driving test 20 years ago.

bloss Promise, I will stop all talk of Houlis now, I am even boring myself! Although it definitely makes more sense to spend more on a pair of jeans that you will wear every day than a dress that you'll only wear once or twice a year. Oh, and I applaud your avid ebaying! I cannot wait to get all my clothes out from last summer and declutter my wardrobe.

ollie Please post pic of finished fire engine cake!

marsha Hope you find a solution for childcare/work situation.

carciofi Love the sound of your outfit today although sandals sound very brave. Ballet flats without socks is the best I can do at the moment.

Just read a long article about situation in Libya and I have to say that I am really embarrassed that my country is chickening out and offering no support.

Going to fill up the sandpit with DD and her friend this afternoon. Lots of schlepping buckets up the stairs. Our garden is lovely but a pain when it comes to maintenance.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

blossoming · 23/03/2011 13:16

Tillie is beautiful ollie. Of the other 2, I prefer the second one. My day bag is a similar size. I find it really useful to carry hat, gloves, brolly, sunglasses, snacks, book etc etc. I love that I can just shove things in the top without having to faff with zips or buckles.
I was saying this at the weekend, bags have really risen in price over the past few years, whereas I find shoes have stayed quite constant.

carciofi · 23/03/2011 13:59

Exhausted, well done!

OWW, the Tillie bag is lovely. I like the large, slouchy Boden bag but I love big bags. It comes to £101.32 if you use the code ST15 on top of the 20% off and you could also go through Quidco. Pretty good and you can always return it. I am tempted to get it and use it instead of my boring Skiphop changing bag.

Bloss, you will get lots of wear out of the Houlihans. Yes, I am going to sell the Julian. Worn once! One sold on ebay last week for £100 and I paid $230 for it.

Herecomesthesun, the Outnet had Belstaffs a while ago.

DD is the proud owner of new pink shoes (chosen by her).

Fritzi, it's 17C here today. :)

blossoming · 23/03/2011 14:06

Ooh, £100 towards new Houlihans! I'll let you sell yours first though carciofi! Mine's a US 10.

blossoming · 23/03/2011 14:15

I have spent the last 2 hours listing loads of baby stuff. And now lots of the the baby boden stuff has sold immediately! Why didn't I charge more?? Off to pack them up now!
Hey, at least I haven't spent any money (yet) this lunchtime!

roary · 23/03/2011 15:00

Gah! I just ordered the BOden strappy wedges and saw your discount code Carciofi. I could save even more! Do I cancel the order or just wait for it to come and return??

Ollie I like the Boden bag. It is not very uberstylish of me but I can't justify spending more than £125-£150 on bags....but I admire the style nous of those who do!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/03/2011 15:30

Back from playground - DS2 having meltdown as I type cos I wont give him an ice lolly even tho "there is a hole the shape of an ice lolly" in his tummy apparently! (Said they could have one after dinner and trying to stick to my guns re promises!)

Roary - if its hasn't been dispatched - you can ring CS and cancel order and re-order?

Carciofi & Bloss - think I will get the slouchy bag to (I'd picked up that extra code from another thread too!) and maybe start saving for a Mulburry Tillie using tried and tested W&A methods ('ebay' and 'saving euro coins in a pot')! Unless DH thinks its a good 40th pressie....?

Sad about Elizabeth Taylor. I love her in her old films.

exhausted, I like the way they've been styled here just with a simple vest top. But I also like the look with Bretons, and because of my tummy issues, I think I would buy this top because of it's drape, for coverage!
Anyway it's going to take me a few £5 sales to reach £245. Sharkskin not available on Revolve unfortunately.

herecomesthsun · 23/03/2011 16:21

blossoming, could you link to your Ebay sales, do you think (curious)? Or CAT me? If you have anything left, that is Smile

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2011 16:28

I've been getting things organised to put a few things on ebay too this afternoon, mainly boden and brora knitwear. I'm finding it really hard to take photos that show the true colour for some reason, it's driving me mad!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/03/2011 16:43

Bloss - did you see that Boden (sort of) do a white version of your M&S Bloss top here.

Apuski - I saw a pic on ebay once where someone had hung a dress out of an upstairs window and taken a photo of it from below - most strange! I must have about 40 things to ebay but need to wait til I know I can post things when in the UK. (Someone should set up an ebay pick up and post it for you service!!!)

blossoming · 23/03/2011 16:51

Ooh, I like that ollie. How come that's passed me by? That would go well with my (non existent) houlihans too!
Right, must go and tend to the dcs. And tonight I have a date with DH. Finally King's Speech has arrived in town!

blossoming · 23/03/2011 16:52

apuski, I recently sold a slate coloured cardigan, and I had loads of questions because from the photo it looked teal! Must be the sun or something.

VerityBrulee · 23/03/2011 17:16

Gosh, lots of congratulations in order Smile

Exhausted well done! I'm sure driving in London is pretty nerve-wracking, if you can drive there you can go anywhere.

Bloss that's great about the teaching, lots of extra shopping money!

Carciofi must be a relief to get a nursery place for dd, and free too! I remember last year people on MN being aghast that we had to pay for nursery, then when dc get to school, pay for uniform, books, stationary, photocopying, complusory swimming, school trips, you name it! The 'free' education is not quite so free Hmm What did your dad think of the house?

Marsha that sounds like the perfect job, I'd like one just like it!

AnnieMac thanks! I do enjoy the dc's parties, used to stress myself out when ds1 was little, elaborately icing animal shaped biscuits and that kind of thing, but then I realised all they want are sausages and rice crispie cakes! You sound like you like entertaining yourself!

OWW I like the slouchy boden one too.

Fritzi Envy that you have sand-pit weather! It's sunny bit a little chilly here, but that hasn't stopped people putting on their summer clothes, I have seen shorts, vests and filp flops in the last few days, and lots of very white, pasty legs!

I didn't try on the Mango dresses, I knew if I did I'd end up buying something! I do think Mango is having a moment though, lots of lovely things there ATM.

Lots of college work at the moment, only 4 weeks left and lots to do. Making a mosaic today, inspired by one in the porch of Bon Marche - shopping pervades every area of my life Grin

Have a good night Bloss, I loved The Kings Speech Smile

Must go and help ds1 with his Irish grammer, it's amazing the information you can drag out from the hidden recesses of your brain.

Vin thinking of you, hope the new job is going great.

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2011 17:20

Everything, yup, all size 8's unfortunately.

blossoming · 23/03/2011 17:39

My trench got its first outing today. Worn a la zembo, open with belt tied behind. Over a Breton, of course, and my skinnies. Sleeves rolled up. My mum said 'very posh'. I'm sure school gate mums had a view too!
I really love it, and shall wear it on my 5 min walk to cinema!

Your project sounds amazing verity.

mrsjuan · 23/03/2011 17:43

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on the job Marsha - I bet you will be fab as long as it doesn't require any knowledge of London streets Grin. I am thinking of trying to map out our little diversion later if I get time to see how far we went - my feet certainly felt delicate the next day.

Congratulations to Exhausted as well - hope you have lots of fun driving.

Bloss - I love your teaching clothes & am trying to emulate your style I got the GAP modern boot cut trousers in grey on your recommendation and think they are great. Black straight leg jeans, breton & zara jacket for me today. What shoes do you wear for teaching? Well done for getting all those classes btw.

OWW - I like the slouchy Boden one - forgot to show you my warehouse satchel one at the weekend - sorry!

Reine - hope your DD is back to normal now. I haven't really planned my holiday wardrobe yet but will let you know if I have any insights!

Hope everyone has recovered from all the excitement of the weekend - it really was lovely to meet you all - looking forward to next time Grin

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2011 18:13

MrsJ, I'm sure it was you who asked me this, the sling I'm using on my FB picture is the Mei Hip carrier, and it's fab.

ApuskiDusky · 23/03/2011 18:15

that link doesn't work, let me try again

blossoming · 23/03/2011 18:34

mrsjuan, I loved your Zara jacket. It's longer than mine I think. For teaching I wear lace up heeled shoes from Russell & Bromley. They're called Flying Nun. They look a bit Victorian, but are great with bootcut trousers. The heel is similar to the one on the Agnes boot linked earlier.

carciofi · 23/03/2011 19:25

Verity, I assumed that we would have to pay for all that here too, maybe not. She goes to a private nursery at the moment and it is expensive so DH is very happy he'll save that. Funny, we speak Irish in front of DD when we don't want her to understand, I haven't spoken it so much in years! My dad is going to see the house tomorrow and bringing a builder he knows to estimate how much it would cost to do up. The estate agent said to DH that it is uninhabitable right now. We weren't planning on leaving until the baby is 2 or 3 (as DH will be in London for most of the week) so it is a bit soon to be putting in offers.

Enjoy the movie, Bloss. I still haven't seen it.

Roary, if you phone Boden CS, I am sure they will apply the code.

OWW, the Tillie would make a perfect 40th gift. I think I'd like a brown Bayswater next and DH did say he wanted to buy me something in June. So I will allow him to do so. :)
