Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
blossoming · 16/03/2011 19:13

That was lovely exhausted. I wonder when that was in store? I don't remember it since I had my colours done a year ago.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/03/2011 19:20

roary I think first belt might be better.

ollie Love the jacket. It's like a summer version of the Pure jacket.

mrsj what a mean comment. I bet you looked fabulous and the person was just insecure or jealous.

MOAMU-ladies: Weather forecast for Saturday night: 1C Shock. I will definitely be packing tights and faux fur coat, brrr.

bouncingblueberries · 16/03/2011 19:53

Oh poo. Lost 2 posts on here the past 2 days! Must be gremlins in the laptop.

Was just coming on to tell OWW that I found the Carvella nude shoes you linked to last week (to go with navy Janice) in TK Maxx for a bargain £36 Grin. Except, when I found the link (here). That's not the ones I bought at all! I was so convinced and decided it was fate. They are Carvella and they are nude, so easily confused Confused.

Anyway, love the ash sandals annie and very tempted by stripey janice keepcalm - good spot!

Oh and just checked the forecast and it is set to be sunny and 10C in South London where I am - will think of you all swishing round Fenwicks and Selfridges and breton+skinny flash mobbing Grin

bouncingblueberries · 16/03/2011 19:55

Ooops, sorry - 10C and sunny during the day Blush

notyummy · 16/03/2011 20:00

MrsJ - Am indignant on your behalf. How rude of her.

Transcript of telephone conversation between me and DH today as I drove home (I have bluetooth btw!):

ME: I have narrowed down my dresses for Saturday night to 2 or 3.

DH: Wow! Impressive. Are you going to take a few more though?

ME: No, I thought I would just take 2. I need room for another outfit plus shoes etc and I want to just take the small pullalong case.

DH: But surely you will need room for a bottle of fizz? Is it a good idea to take the small bag? Also - think about your tolietries....

ME: Hmm, yes. Will think about it.

He knows me soooooo well Grin

Emo76 · 16/03/2011 20:07

oh mrsj i am outraged on your behalf - what sort of a weirdo asks a colleague that? clearly some issues going on there!

I can only hope believe my perfect MOAMU outfit will invent itself about 5 minutes before I am due to leave the house on Sat. Can the universe deliver?!

I have a stripey Janice already, would say down a size in it to anyone buying. It certainly holds size better than my beloved navy one!

carciofi · 16/03/2011 20:15

NY, that is funny.

MrsJuan, what a rude woman!

Bloss, the guilt has passed. I knew it was fleeting.

Exhausted, I like the bag in pink too, and the navy satchel. Maybe in the summer sales!

I need to buy a P&T stroller actually, don't have one to sell, but luckily my dad has offered to buy it so going to get a new one and probably will ebay to buy a new bag in a couple of years! A friend gave me her Baby Bjorn sling today which is great. I gave all DD's baby things away as was so sure we weren't having any more! Never say never again. Wink

I hate competitive parenting too. At the moment it is all about potty training. Grr.

Apuski, have fun in Selfridges.

Annie, I love the Ash sandals and the coat. The baby is due on 10th June. I feel a bit tired but try to ignore it. Only 12 weeks now!

Got the Anthropologie catalogue, there are some gorgeous summer dresses in there.

Really like this Goat cardigan but very expensive for cotton, I am thinking of this Hush cardigown instead.

mrsjuan · 16/03/2011 20:28

Thank you for your virtual indignation. I was so Shock when she asked that I didn't know what to say - I just opened and closed my mouth like a fish before saying 'er, I don't think so but erm, er ... maybe'. Hey ho.

Your DH is great NY

Emo - I'm sure the universe is on your side.

So excited for you carciofi! My sister is due tomorrow. No signs as yet though.

Love your buys Annie sounds like you're looking forward to your non MOAM party

blossoming · 16/03/2011 21:05

Surely ny's dh needs an honorary place at the moamu?!

I have my babybjorn on eBay this week carciofi! I'm glad your guilty feelings gave gone, and already thinking of your next bag!
Thanks for suggesting the m&s coat. I'd, um, forgotten about it! (I've been loving the Barbour again!)

That's exciting mrsj. Are you close to your sister?

That was very sweet of you to check the forecast for us bouncing!

Oooh everything - what a great response, I will remember that one - esp with SIL! You are a very wise lady!

vinestein · 16/03/2011 21:48

Hi all, I have had a not great week where I have already irritated my new employer before I start Shock as I asked for a bit more time and that means I'm not 'committed to the firm' eek. but all seems to be resolved now and partner hsa been very nice via email so

NO avidness really- except for a Jo Malone spree (I am in love with her fragrances).. I got my LK Bennett shilo shoes re-heeled (the comfiest plain black heels I have ever owned) er.. er.. umm... oh yes and had a gap spree with carciofi's 30pc off code (for DS) and ordered the 'perfect white shirt' in a size 'small' which is too big (I'm normally a small, so this is a weird development of vanity sizing) - chucked the receipt- anyone want it? PM me if so. I'd guess it's a generous 10..

Oh, silly me, also got a bunch of shirts from TM Lewin (sorry ladies not very exciting) but in lovely colours and all half price!

I do have a broken nose but because I can breathe, they're not massively bothered to do anything, but it really hurts still- I have all sorts of weird shapes under my skin and one side makes a funny noise if I push it. It doesn't look very different, but to me it is a massive difference as I was already hating my nose so I'm quite Sad that I'm starting my new job with a wrecked face- I am seeing a specialist tomorrow about it but I imagine on a risk-benefit basis they won't do anything Sad

mrsjuan · 16/03/2011 21:49

everything I think she would have just withered! I don't think she meant to be rude - it sounded like a genuine question (which makes it worse Blush

carciofi we are quite close now (hated each other as teenagers)- we live a 3 hour drive apart now though so don't see much of each other. We skype a lot but don't tend to get deep and meaningful!

Right - I have tried on all my clothes and think I have decided on day outfits (very boring). I also rediscovered this in my wardrobe which could work for the evening instead of this or
this in navy (assuming it fits and arrives on time)

Fleecy · 16/03/2011 21:54

everything I am going to try to remember that - brilliant! mrsj is she often rude? You don't look at all overweight from what I've seen of your pics?

Is this your sis who got married last year?

Unlike ny's my DH doesn't deserve an honourary MOAMU place. I had lash inserts done this evening and came back feeling all bright-eyed and fabulous. Only for DH to peer into my face all close and say 'what did she do to your eyebrows?' He's a lost cause.

Anyway, I may well have terrible skin on Saturday but I will have amazing lashes. And for a comparatively bargainous £35!

Wow, chilly weekend then. Coat dilemma here too - like bloss the coat that goes with my dress for the evening is a black 60s mini coat from my mother and I love it but not with jeans. So I think I'm going to have to go with dresses, tights and boots both days instead.

vinestein · 16/03/2011 22:00

mrsjuan that's a good tip from everything! The number of people who think they can come out with horrid remarks staggers me! Nobody is polite any more! Like people who used to say to me oh, you look x years old (add 10 years to my real age) or the HR woman who said 'so, you've gained, what, 4 stone?' Shock

mrsj, you're not overweight anyway, I sent you my jeans! She has issues

Thank you all who have reassured me about my decision. I hope I don't regret it, but think I might regret turning down this one without giving it a shot

MarshaBrady · 16/03/2011 22:00

Wow Fleecy sounds amazing.

MrsJ I am indignant on your behalf too!

Everything I like it.

Thanks Bloss lots of laundry here.

Vin you poor thing!

I fear I have gone a shade too light with the hair, I hope it is dim lighting on the weekend. Grin

Fleecy · 16/03/2011 22:02

marsha I was looking at pictures of the venue - a resounding yes to dim lighting. Every woman's best friend Grin

How's it going vin? When do you start?

OllieWollieWoo · 16/03/2011 22:03

It was so spring like here yesterday I thought I'd get away with a little black cardi for Saturday evening - obviously not!
Right decision made - my coat will NOT match or suit my dress but will be ok for the rest of the WE.

Gavel!

vinestein · 16/03/2011 22:04

In other news, P is being awful at the moment Sad really can't wait until I have proper childcare.. Should be in 2 weeks time... fingers crossed it doesn't fall through again. Well, it's only 4 days so there's still one day that I'd need but it's a good start!

did you really have lash inserts fleecy? I was at a shavata eyebrow place today and saw as I was leaving they do lash inserts and extensions, sounded drastic so I ran out but I used to have [shallow confession] little eyelashes added at a place called pout in covent garden, just to the outside corners, and it made SUCH a difference. I haven't had it done for years- let us know how the lashes get on! Your DH sounds funny!

mrsjuan · 16/03/2011 22:05

Yep - honeymoon baby Grin you've got a good memory.
Work woman is not often rude as such, thoughtless and a bit stupid more like. Am over it now.

Wow - lash inserts - I bet you look stunning. DH's (except NY's) are a lost cause when it comes to things like that. Mine only ever judges my outfits on how big / small they make my bum look though I suspect I may have indoctrinated him into this way of thinking as it is usually my first concern Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 16/03/2011 22:06

(Based decision on time spent in coat whilst wearing dress = hotel to venue and back again)

vinestein · 16/03/2011 22:06

oh and I forgot my MN name so couldn't log in Grin

I start next week- getting nervous but am quite happy. wish I had a not-broken nose though for my start date Blush... dim lighting, you say?? Perhaps I should go to MOAMU after all!! I need the dark corner!

OllieWollieWoo · 16/03/2011 22:07

Like the sound of your lashes Fleecy - permission to have a good look on Saturday?!
(My brows have calmed down a bit thank goodness!)

ApuskiDusky · 16/03/2011 22:08

Vin, Sad about your nose, hope the specialist has something constructive to say tomorrow. And .... if it makes a weird noise when you push it to one side - stop!

Fleecy I have the same coat dilemma, so I'm just going to have two coats with me!

Right, I am sitting with a NAP box, having ordered two pairs of flared jeans - Citizens of humanity and MIH in indigo. Both fit nicely, MIH ones are smarter, as they almost don't look like jeans. I'm definitely keeping the CoH ones - do I send MIH back ( was my intention as they both need heels and I don't wear day heels much), or can I justify keeping both? (hopeful).

MarshaBrady · 16/03/2011 22:10

Apuski keep both Smile
