mebbe too much hair wrapped round bristles?

Dropdeadfred · 14/02/2011 22:58

I'm really disappointed Sad I can honestly say I could do my hair just as well by drying and straightening and it has yanked hair out and left some frizzy and split looking !!! I think perhaps my hair is a bad combination of thick and long? It worked well enough on my fringe I guess but not enough to make it worth £42

ilythia · 14/02/2011 23:04

Hmm, might be. It seems harder to judge on her. She hates the brush/dryer combo but I seem to be pulling on her hair a bit with this.
Will keep trying. Maybe need sectioning clip things...

Am going to purposely not wash tomorrow and see what happens, have had alice band type thick hairband in all night so have interesting kink in fringe too..

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 08:39

Ooh, I'm really tempted to get one. Dropdeadfred has just put me off though. I can imagine my hair doing the same. My hair's quite fragile and I worry that all that yanking and hot air would leave it a frazzled mess. It's a shame you can't buy it on trial.

Dropdeadfred · 15/02/2011 09:17

iwould normally rough dry my hair, hen finish off my drying with round brush too, then get the ghds out.
My hair his morning (after BBH last night) looks dull and a bit frazzled..as if it's been bleached or over processed. My disappointment is palpable!!!

Dropdeadfred · 15/02/2011 09:20

Ramblingrosa if you buy from argos you can return after use even if it is not faulty.

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 09:33

Can you? That's good. You can just return it on the basis that you didn't like it?

Dropdeadfred · 15/02/2011 09:36

ramblingrosa yes you can..just say it didn't have the effect you were expecting.
I reurned an epilator once just saying i hurt too much! Blush

Dropdeadfred · 15/02/2011 09:37

I'm going to give it another go before deciding if I should return it or not...would have to send it back to amazon though ..pain in the butt

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 09:58

Really? I just checked their returns policy and it says only if it's faulty or unused. That's good to know if they do let you return things just because you don't like them though.

Dropdeadfred · 15/02/2011 10:19

Oh!! Well, it was a couple of years ago..but I just handed it over and said it wasn't faulty but i couldn't bear to use it and they took it back.
I guess with the BBH if it didn't work for you you would be able to say 'it tangles' etc so it is in a way faulty.

geordieminx · 15/02/2011 12:23

You can only return to argos if it is faulty or unused. You cant take it back after you have used it, just because you don't like it... They would have to bin it as they couldn't sell it, and can only return to the manufacturer if it is faulty.

If however, for example it wasn't spinning, or heating, or something, it would be unlikely that they would check there and then.....

I was in argos at the weekend, there was a teenage girl returning pile of robbed some stuff, including some tongs.... The sales assistant spent about 10 minutes examining them for hair...

Honeymum · 15/02/2011 13:14

Just to say thanks to whoever it was who said the BBH is £22.50 in Asda - I just got one. Looking forward to giving it a whirl (!) later!!

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:03

Oooh, I'm going to go to Asda.

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:05

Hmm, just looked on Asda website and it's £45. Is it just an in-store promotion?

Honeymum · 15/02/2011 15:09

Don't know. It was just marked down from £45 to £22.50. I got the last one (Arnold, Notts) Grin

WincyEtNightie · 15/02/2011 15:15

Yes, it's just instore at some stores. See my link on the other BBH thread (Sat 12th 19.55)

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:15

I'm Envy. Was that just recently? Might still pop in there on the off chance.

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:18

Thanks Wincy. I wonder if I could call up to find out what it costs in store

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:19

PS. I'm amazed that not only are there other threads on here about BBH but there are whole other forums about it. Is it really that amazing?!

WincyEtNightie · 15/02/2011 15:26

Give it a try RR. They may surprise you Grin

I know, I'm trying to think of a way to explain my recent purchase to DH without saying "well, everyone else on Mumsnet has one". Arrived today (from Amazon - couldn't face trawling my not-so-local Asda on the offchance)

Good luck!

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 15:33

I'm very tempted. My Asda's not very local either. It would involve me making a car trip after DD's gone to bed one evening. DP would think I was mad. Especially if they ended up not having them on offer!

MmeLindt · 15/02/2011 16:27

RamblingRosa
Not at all surprised at the interest. I blogged about the BBH and it has been my most popular post. By a mile.

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 19:02

I'm amazed. And feeling the need to go and buy one! How long has all this fuss been going on? Is it a brand new invention or have they been around for a while but now MN has discovered that they're great? It sounds like it's the new GHDs.

RamblingRosa · 15/02/2011 19:06

Oh, another question for those of you who've already got one: is it noisy like a hairdryer?
