Tulpe, did you section hair or just work randomly?

tulpe · 13/02/2011 19:38

holy Gail ??? Duh!! Clearly meant Grail :o

Mrs SB worth pursuing the wand - just need to think about where you actually want the curl. I did try just random sections but my hair is so straight and fine that the uncurled sections looked wispy and a mess so i just went for it and curled the lot.

Agree with Tracey re length. My hair sits about 3 inches past my shoulders. Wouldnt work on shorter hair but I do think longer would be even better.

I also use a smoothing creme containing cherry oil from the salon. It isnt a branded product - will get details later and post if anyone interested. It makes a real difference to my hair. You can use it on wet or dry hair to smooth it without making it greasy - unlike a lot of serums, ime.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 19:40

Didn't do it in any particularly organised order though. Just took sections from wherever and then revisited the gaps :)

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 19:40

Yep I had wispy mess effect - but then I tried the random approach. Too impatient lazy to faff about with sectioning clips. But sounds worth pursuing. My hair is about 4in below shoulder length.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 19:42

I didnt use sectioning clips. I just left it hanging loose, grabbed a chunky section of hair, combed through and then curled.

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 19:51

Tulpe, but without sectioning clips, how did you do underneath bits without 'on top' bits getting in the way / all tangled around the wand? Confused and Envy

fishie · 13/02/2011 20:08

i am intruiged and confused by this thiing. and cross to see that mor oil has silicon.

it this a viable thing for a person with fine dry curly hair who has not been near a hairdresser for years because all blow dries are calamities?

southeastastra · 13/02/2011 20:10

ooh i like it

it's so easy to use - doesn't seem to tangle when you think it would.

cyb · 13/02/2011 20:25

My BBh'ed hair withstood 1 1/2 hrs of trackside spectating today

God I LOVE it

I crave drizzly days now-might even take it to work tomorrow to WHIRRR in the staffroom

That'll give'em something to talk about

ruddynorah · 13/02/2011 20:27

there are videos on youtube to help you with the curling wand.

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:28

MrsSB - I don't know! I just tilted my head so I could get to underneath bits I guess.

Cyb - have image of you as lady in the Silverkrin adverts (think it was Silverkrin) from the 70's, strutting across road and wafting hair in "just stepped out of a salon" manner :o

cyb · 13/02/2011 20:31

Yes tulpe, thast exactly what I ,look like

I have perfected it now

My first attempts were a bit like this

southeastastra · 13/02/2011 20:42

tulpe · 13/02/2011 20:53

Mrs SB - yes, am in one of those moods to go searching for 70's adds now. I feel a conversation about Spangles coming on!

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 20:55

KristinaM · 13/02/2011 20:59

MrsSeanBean · 13/02/2011 21:09

Still do! Blush in gym kit anyway!

thefirstMrsDeVere · 13/02/2011 21:47

Ok, I am back. Thank you for your patience.

I like it, I have big hair BUT I also got myself tangled up quite a bit.

How do you stop that happening?

cyb · 13/02/2011 22:44

you section off hair properly.

You dont whizz ALL the time-whizz for a bit then just let it blow

DrNortherner · 14/02/2011 09:01

Well I need to try one of these Big Hairs before i buy.

How long does it take to style just below shoulder length hair?
