I just spotted some great tops on the Banana Republic website. THis one is lovely, I think a couple of people may have it (including me, wearing it today, and it's massively on sale)

here

And for you stripey mavens, lovely and I can't decide if this is lovely or insane

Hello all.Smile I have been reading this thread with much interest. I am new to style and beauty. I really want to get myself sorted, I am a SAHM and wear too many jeans and generally look scruffy. This seems like a great place to start. Firstly, can I ask what a janice is? I have read back but must have missed a link.

Zembo - Hope you get well soon.
Vinvinoveritas - I know quite a bit about letting and your deposit should be held in a deposit protection scheme which makes it very difficult for you to lose your deposit. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions and best of luck with finding a place.

roary · 02/02/2011 10:01

Vin I'd beat her up, or get MM to do it. MM a spot of rage just as good as hugs?

I was interested to see your comments about your L&L scarf not being as soft as you thought - I have red leopard too and that's what I thought but I kept it because i like the colour...

roary · 02/02/2011 10:03

VIn that's EXACTLY the insane factor - I couldn't put my finger on it (arrrh!). As I take a professional interest in pirates perhaps I should get it :)

florenceuk · 02/02/2011 10:04

Vino - I can't believe your P (should he really still be your P?) Lots of virtual hugs it seems to be a tricky time of year for everyone.

On a more frivolous note, The Killing is fantastic isn't it - better than Wallander. Apparently being remade in US.

Now ladies, bearing in mind I am almost 45 (rapidly approaching) is this top too mutton-ous? here - clearly the bunny rabbit one goes beyond the pale.

Also bought this in the hope that once I have replaced the crappy buttons it will look almost chic: in black The J+ collection preview looks interesting - I like the orange dress!

Romanholiday · 02/02/2011 10:08

Helle Feelingsensitive this is Janice, which many on this thread are enjoying wearing for all kinds of occasions.

Vin please leave this horrible man! Please

Bonsoir · 02/02/2011 10:09

florence - I like the Uniqlo jacket - very on trend for SS11 - but really don't like the t-shirt with bows! Not unless you are über rock, and even then...

Feelingsensitive · 02/02/2011 10:12

Thank you Roman. I will go and investigate.

FlorenceUK - I don't like the jumper it looks a bit too topshop fpr my liking. Agree with you on the black cardigan. With the right buttons it would look great.

Zembo hope you are ok, and they help you get better very quickly.

Vin love the brightness of the yellow one. Join me in stopping traffic Wink

Feelingsensitive · 02/02/2011 10:22

Won't be much of a cull. There isn't much on there Blush. Thanks again.

Feelingsensitive · 02/02/2011 10:22

Welcome Feeling! You have already had some good advice. I would second the well fitting jeans and breton. Depends a bit on your shape and budget (although we cover quite a range on budgets fairly successfuly on this thread I think!)

Vin - Your P is beyond the pale. Am Angry on your behalf.

Florence - Not too keen on that bow top, sorry.

Roary - Dhs course is away in foreign parts this week (chatting with Ambassadors and, erm, James Galway. And going to the opera. It's all HARD WORK of course Hmm)so unfortunately you will not pass like ships on Friday!

Kildare - Hope your DH has a good time. It is slightly worrying though isn't it? DH used to have to put up with me disappearing off to go diving, surfing and skiing...but not for a few years now. Because of the job he did when we first met, it was harder for him to do adventurous stuff (particularly diving) as there aren't loads of fast jet trained guys and the forces get very antsy when they break themselves!!

lackaDaisy · 02/02/2011 11:10

Oh, this thread moves very fast! I've just skimmed, but wanted to wish Zembo luck and hope the hospital get you started.

monkeymama I hope you don't mind me saying so (relative newbie) but I went through a similar situation myself last year, and sometimes when I thought I was all right something (usually silly) would tip me over the edge. I was fine cuddling my friend's newborn, but then a pregnant stranger would sit next to me in a cafe and I'd suddenly get all teary. I guess I'm trying to say that you should take care of yourself and really pamper yourself. Smile

lackaDaisy · 02/02/2011 11:13

feeling I've been working from home for two years now and I know exactly how you feel. Jeans+tee is a very easy rut to fall into. I'm working my way out of the rut by buying a few skirts and dresses...I'm hoping that will make me feel more glam Grin

florenceuk · 02/02/2011 11:14

Thanks for feedback everyone, back it goes!

I love that cashmere leopard. I wonder if I could justify it as an early birthday present to my self (just so I could get some wear out of it while it's still cold, you know!). Although I am still waiting for the cowl neck polos in Brora to be reduced so I can buy one - they remain stubbornly stuck on £195 ea.

monkeysmama · 02/02/2011 11:55

Zembo I hope you're ok. I am shocked. Take care please.

Thanks for the nice message Daisy.

I've just ordered these clogs from Lotta from Stockholm on the basis that they're a lot cheaper than Hasbeens and if they're good I can get two pairs and thus stop stressing about the colours.

EN I wear harems with my Ash high tops or Topshop fur wedge boot thingys or sometimes with my Belstaff biker boots depending on the fit of the leg. They're my favourite style of trouser ever though none of mine are that haremy tbh.

Does anyone have MiHs? What is the sizing like? They all seem so long. Are they supposed to be taken up or do they do shorter legs?
