Dh at some drinks reception tonight andhas just sent me a text saying he has had a lovely chat with the German ambassador and James 'The Flute' Galway. I was like this Grin.

AntPants1 · 31/01/2011 20:29

By the way passed this on the way home in River Island. I don't have the arms for this but it is lovely in real life. Please someone give it a home!!

Tracey I went through a spate of punctures a couple of years ago, you should see the stuff I have stashed in the car in case of emergency! Snacks, water, puzzle books and pencils, magazines, extra cardigans and jackets, we could probably survive for a few days in there now. What an unbelievable design flaw that the car cannot fit a spare tyre Shock

Well, dh just dropped a bombshell. Apparently we are spending a weekend at a hotel in the Irish midlands (ie middle of nowhere) with all the ILs to, ahem, celebrate MILs birthday. I would love to strangle the genius that came up with that wheeze. I am so cross I cannot begin to articulate my feelings on the subject.

Great timing on the talk of skinny jeans. I spent the day running into the loo to pull up my jeans which insisted on slipping down, despite my belts best efforts. Time for a high waisted pair I think. I shall be sure to purchase the most expensive pair I can find and put them on dh's card.

Reine I'll be thinking of you tommorow, hope everything goes smoothly.

NY you can never have too many lovely dresses.

Ants you sound very glamorous! Glad your first day back went well.

OWW what a good purchase, that was serendipity!

VerityBrulee · 31/01/2011 21:39

Bunny here's a sweet story of a woman who had twins, made me think of you. It's a lovely blog actually, worth bookmarking as she usually has nice links.

blossoming · 31/01/2011 21:54

Yes, get two pairs verity, and a bag! 6 hours is my limit with my ILs!
Very glam indeed ants. What's your job? And j love that top.

Emo76 · 31/01/2011 22:01

notyummy your DH's namedropping really made me laugh. sounds like an interesting party!!

Ants glad to hear first day back went well. I am in for 4 days next week and then back full time in March. Actually looking forward to getting dressed for work, though can only just squeeze in to some of my smarter clothes!

Verity that sounds like you are due more than a pair of jeans.

Got these mail order today made me feel instantly mumsy and are going back

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 22:02

Good evening ladies

Thank you all for your kind words. It's an incredibly hard time. Your thoughts really do mean a lot to me.

Shopping has as ever proved a good escape.

The best purchase has been these mid wedge Ash "trainers" I've had my eye on them for ages but ended up letting my sisters' opinions reason get the better of me and got some flat ones. I've now ebayed those and love the new ones. They are very comfortable and go well with all my kind-of-harems and skinny jeans.

I have several pairs of Houlialikes. The most recent pair were from Joy and are a bit higher waisted (without being high waist) and grey and I love them. Not bad for £40. Am now thinking of getting these real navy J Brands. I recall Hells has some - are they really low rise? I wonder if they'll look dated too soon as I am getting them so late to justify the price tag.

I have bought this black light sweatshirt which is a kind of suedy material and I love. I've been asked three times if it is a Micky Mouse jumper Hmm though!? I've not worn this Velvet top yet & may return it as it isn't entirely compatible with my life and I already have lots of things I can only wear when I go out without dd twice a year. I also let dd guide me into purchasing a grey sweatshirt with an abstract polar bear on the front Hmm and a grey and cream lace one from Topshop which is surprisingly flattering.

I bought these Bloches in red and these in sable though now think I should've headed to TKMaxx first. I am not sure about the red ones but the grey ones are lovely. I was planning on wearing the red ones with jeans in spring and they are very comfortable. Dd loves them too so they will probably stay.

I got a lot in the Reiss sale including this grey sweatshirt (am I only to wear grey sweatshirts from now on Hmm?),this lovely simple dress for holidays, this top for over skinnies but may well return, this navy plain jumper which looks great with last year's M&S red and navy animal print scarf. I also got these blue flares and sent them back and then reordered them. I really like them and even if they won't get much wear I like looking at them (and fit in a size 10 Grin).

Warehouse have also done me proud. This is grey and animal print so very me, this gold warrior dress was in the sale and I'll wear it in Italy, this is thin but nice over a cream lace vest and these trousers are great for every day wear. These are nice too for any other harem wearers.

I am not normally a big fan of sequins but I keep looking at this sparkly number longingly. I also like this though I own a similar Primark one Grin. This is so beautiful but not in my price range.

I've realised I've missed out all my asos and All Saints gear but this is already a mammoth post Blush.

Reine I hope tomorrow goes well.

Finally, Roma I saw this in Warehouse while looking on line for links. It's orangey coral.

AllBuggiedOut · 31/01/2011 23:41

Good work mm! I am tempted to place a Warehouse order for the coral and gold dresses you linked to. And I love the sparkly sweatshirts, although am not sure I could pull them off (and the Stella is the only one in my colour anyway and, like you, out of price range!)

Sympathies verity. Sounds hideous. You must take a plentiful supply of books and something to permit internet access!

bunnymother · 01/02/2011 04:11

Reine - thinking of you, and DD1 later today.

Zembo - hope your DH's interview went well.

Verity - thank you for the blog link, its just lovely, isn't it?! And the writer links to some beautiful things - she has great taste. As do you...

bunnymother · 01/02/2011 04:13

Oh and Verity - how about a nice hip flask of vodka for your mini break w PILs? Keep you pleasantly sozzled, so you can smile and wave, smile and wave. And think about the nice new things your DH is going to find himself having purchased for you.

Zembo · 01/02/2011 06:04

Morning ladies, just a quickie to say my DH didn't get the job Sad He's totally gutted. I'm okay, but it does now mean that he's only got a contract until end of June so needs to find another job ASAP! Our luck has got to change soon!

MM no time to click on your links at then moment, but really lovely to see you back on here. Unfortuantely I can relate to the hard time you're having, I'm still finding things hard two months on - not helped by periods all over the place etc etc. Still having some other symptoms too so may have to see the GP again (and I hate going to the docs! - no offence Looby its just my issues with admitting I'm not quite right)

Sorry for the negative post. Hope you all have good days.

traceybath · 01/02/2011 07:01

Oh bad luck Zembo.

My friend's DH had a nightmare getting his number and they ended up moving quite a way away in the end which was very stressful for all concerned.

Fingers crossed something else crops up soon.

Romanholiday · 01/02/2011 08:19

Good shopping MM and thanks for the link.

Bad luck Zembo. It's a while until June, so there's time to get something sorted.

Tracey I realise I sounded all preachy about car tyres. Actually I would have been spitting blood myself in the circs Blush

Weekend break sounds delightful Verity

Have a nice day everyone.

Bonsoir · 01/02/2011 08:34

Roman - I sent you a PM last night about the artist.

notyummy · 01/02/2011 08:58

Zembo - So sorry your DH didn't get the job. Have my fingers crossed that something comes up for him very soon.

I am working from home this morning in a fetching sportswear combo as I plan on a run. I am listening to one of my NLP CDs on internal representation systems I booked onto the course without realising that there are 20 hour long CDs (to be listened to 3 times Shock) plus 2 books, a huge folder and an one hour online exam all to be worked through before I go on the training. Bugger!

PlumSykes · 01/02/2011 09:05

Morning poppets. Am off to look at bridesmaid frocks with bride friend today, and will also have a peek at the Reiss lace. Wish my hair didn't look so meh today, is going to make it hard to spend day staring in fitting room mirrors.

MarshaBrady · 01/02/2011 09:37

Morning.

Reine hope all goes well today, will be thinking of you.

I am reading The Bonfire of the Vanities, really enjoying it! Lots of ! which suits me.

He is delighted with his position in the universe and keeps using... The audacity!

I love it. Grin

MM lovely to see you here, great shopping.

pickledsiblings · 01/02/2011 09:53

Morning Ladies

Zembo, from time to time DH and I have a 'run of bad luck'. On reflection, it reminds us of how lucky we are most of the time. Hope your luck changes soon and that DH gets the next job he has his eye on.

I hate going to the Docs too but sometimes you just know that you need to go. Trust your instincts Zembo.

Bonsoir, thanks for style lowdown. I need to find my style before I can think about defining it. I am probably closer to rock than romantique although I do love 'a bit of sheer' Grin

MM, great shopping. Love those two Warehouse dresses you've got. Retail therapy is good but can only go so far, come on here for a chat if you need to. Many of us here have been through similar heartaches as you know.

Reine, hope today goes well for both of you.

ABO, can you take photos of the items that your personal shopper recommends and then look for similar for less ££? After treating yourself to a few lovely things though.

Tracey, I've had 2 flat tyres in one week recently. Darn potholes.

bunnymother · 01/02/2011 09:56

Zembo - sorry to read that. Am hoping something great comes along for your family soon.

loobylu3 · 01/02/2011 09:58

zembo- so sorry to hear that your DH didn't get the job. I know how competitive Consultant jobs can be and how so often there is a lot of internal politics going on which swings the outcome :( Does that mean you will probably have to move from the area?
I don't think many people actually like seeing their GPs! I certainly avoid it if I can :)

TheAllNewOoooh · 01/02/2011 10:08

Hello ladies

Am sat typing left handed on the laptop as I am being slept on by a poorly baby. llama I'll see how he is in an hour or so but might need to take a raincheck today. Sad

As a result I've absolutely no chance whatsoever of keeping up with all that's been happening here.... am just about managing to work my way through MM's extremely avid shopping list. Lots of lovely things on there I might need to copy.

Plum that sounds like a great way to spend a day. I bet you have some champagne thrown in there too? Very Envy I so know that if it were me, I'd be holding up dresses and (mentally) trying them on myself.

In the end I sent back the lace top on my profile pics; I knew that I'd never feel comfortable in it and really all that was stopping me was the awkwardness of taking it back. I swapped it in the end for some Paige jeans but also tried on LTEC's Goldsign jeans which are spenny but amazing. They are so so soft to the touch and yet hold you in. The fabric is something else.

I realised the other day that I wasn't waiting for any deliveries and so had to take steps immediately to rectify that! So I've ordered this White Company dress and this Marant shirt. I have a nice post-shopping glow now. Thank goodness for that!

TheAllNewOoooh · 01/02/2011 10:09

And MM it didn't sit well in my clothes post but I wanted to say how very sorry I was for your loss.

Bonsoir · 01/02/2011 10:15

pickledsiblings - definitions of style are quite useful for directing you to things you might like.

If you like Emmanuelle Alt's glam rock style, you probably like brands like Iro and some of Maje and Sandro?

traceybath · 01/02/2011 10:23

Roma - I didn't think you were preachy at all just very sensible Smile

Oooooh - oooh I may have to order that white co dress too.

Gosh that sentence sounded like one from DS's homework - speedy sounds or somthing like that Smile

Romanholiday · 01/02/2011 10:41

Lots of nice stuff on the White Company. What do you think of this trench
