realised as I was putting them away that reason I couldn't find link to shoe boots was bc I had them in my head as Bertie - but they are actually Dune
here

employmentlawquery · 08/01/2011 09:05

I am hoping to wear these to work, speaking of studded shoe boots. They are a bit more sober and less vertaginous, however.

hellsbelles · 08/01/2011 09:11

Esher - how horrible for you all...I hope she's o.k. today. I too have that awful feeling that if I stop and think everything is going o.k...it's sure to trigger some inverse reaction from the universe. Though this shades the happy moments (not good!)

LTEC Envy at bargain Marant a-like and three cheers for footballers wives bling boots Wink.

Pickled - glad you had such a great day!

A quick disclaimer on DD's phone call...although she is a genius (of course Wink) she isn't quite advanced enough to have called the poilce intentionally - I suspect she was just trying to call her Noni! We've told her all about it today (she was in bed when they finally visited)...and she is amazed! Keeps saying 'ne naw (that's her version of the siren noise), phone, balamory' with a shocked expression Grin

I have made a few purchases from my-wardrobe. I need some good trousers and I've ordered a fair few different shapes to work out the best for me. I am surgically attached to my skinny jeans but I would love a few alternatives (I hate to say it but for 'smart casual' type things!!)...so I have flared, cropped, straight and skinny to try (and probably all will get sent back). I will report back with links.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/01/2011 09:54

Morning!

esher Poor you, how awful! Hope DD is better this morning after a good night's sleep.

everything If anyone needed that baguette and butter it is you! I have a weakness for soda bread and salted butte. Have been indulging a bit too often lately. Wanted to wear my lovely grey GAP sweater dress I felt so fabulous in a few weeks ago and now it looks all wrong with pregnant-like belly protruding, eek Shock! That means cup of blueberries for breakfast today, Thai salad for lunch + Sportmax coat to fake slimness Wink.

fleecy Sad as the news about your ex's father must be, I think it's lovely that he can still share that sort of news with you and that you are still in each others' lives in a way. I hardly dare to think about the bad relationships I had in my late teens/early twenties .

cake The studded boots are fantastic although I could never ever walk in them. employmentlaw's would be more realistic for me but then I have enough boots as it is. Snow and ice have finally melted to a degree that sidewalks are clear and I can swap snow boots for Belstaffs again, yay!

pickled Good luck with DIY project today! Great haul from your London shopping trip.

hells Your DD's ne-naw/phone/Balamory story really made me smile. Make sure to write it down somewhere so she can remember later when she is older.

Mumsnut · 08/01/2011 11:11

Esher - how horrid. Poor dd2. Was it the Teddington walk-in? They are great.

I have Kurt Geigered, oh yes indeedy. 2 pairs of boots to replace the Sadlers I sent back as being too floppy / grey.

Well Ladies, have been very resistant to other sales - except for the dc of course. Brora on Tuesday though ... oh dear!

ApuskiDusky · 08/01/2011 11:28

Has anyone had a Brora preview email yet? I've got one for the last couple of sales but nothing this time yet.

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 08/01/2011 12:36

Hello wise and avid ladies.

What do you think of this sheepskin jacket? I've just tried it on in my local QA and it feels lovely and is very fitted so doesn't overwhelm my short body.

However:

Dilemma A: Is sheepskin over now?

Dilemma B: Am taking a pregnancy test tomorrow morning (DH says I have to wait as Sunday is a lucky day Hmm). If it is positive I probably won't be able to fit into it for much longer - my boobs exploded at about 8 weeks last time and they're pretty snug in there already. So is it the kind of thing I could wheel out next winter too?

DH is telling me to go for it. He thinks it is a bargain .

Romanholiday · 08/01/2011 13:22

Hello Ooooh, good luck with test tomorrow. I personally don't think sheepskin will ever go out of fashion - perfect for the cold. I'm not crazy about that jacket, but I don't like asymmetrical jackets so feel free to ignore. If you like it on, then go ahead. (But next winter your boobs will be massive if you've just had a lo, no?

How is dd Esher?

Boring day here. I'm livening it up with a box of choc truffles.

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 08/01/2011 13:33

Thanks Roman. Dithering about boob size. I've only just stopped breastfeeding so maybe they won't get that much bigger - dear God I hope so, I'm at 32F at the moment!

I might take DH to see it and get his views. He has no idea about fashion but is very good at judging whether a cut suits me or not, so I end up with my most flattering items when he's given the nod.

We are having a boring day too - hurrah! Going to light the fire and vegetate. Was supposed to have shredded this morning but the possibility that I might be pregnant has pushed me away from the DVD player towards a packet of chocolate digestives. Wish I could just test now.

AllBuggiedOut · 08/01/2011 13:37

Am trying to Kurg Geiger but a bit uninspired. Are these any good oh wise ladies please?

Romanholiday · 08/01/2011 14:00

They're OK. I'm uninspired by KG too, though have tried 3 times .

I need some black mid-heel courts, nice but not too pricey. Any suggestions?

I think the foetus could take the shred oooh Grin

blossoming · 08/01/2011 14:30

Hello ooh, I say no to the jacket as the cut would have same effect as double breasted on your boobs. And yes to the Shred.
Good luck tomorrow!

blossoming · 08/01/2011 14:39

What are they for abo? They could look ok with jeans?
My Jigsaw Bretons arrived. But both are so similar that I'll send one back, thus adding £34 to my Pure jacket and pashmina scarf!
I've been listing full speed too, still some to go but we're heading out for a walk now. Have a nice afternoon all!

AllBuggiedOut · 08/01/2011 14:59

Was thinking with skinnies bloss. I wonder if they will be too boot rather than shoe for skirts.
Enjoy your walk. I am snuggled up with the DSs watching the darts while DH does some DIY Grin

ApuskiDusky · 08/01/2011 15:38

Time to report back on the successes or otherwise of my sales purchases.

Got these shoe boots, from R&B, which I really like with opaques, and although they are higher than normal for me they are really comfortable (lightweight emoticon).

Sent back 2 of 5 Toast tops, but this is my favourite, fits nicely, balances my hips and good autumn colours!

And I'm keeping a lime cashmere round neck jumper and this cardigan in navy from Pure.

NAP stuff mostly going back as small isn't small enough, but I'm swapping sizes in summer jacket.

Just the asos order to arrive!

ApuskiDusky · 08/01/2011 15:44

Aarg, last link didn't work - this summer jacket

blossoming · 08/01/2011 16:24

Great haul apuski, and I've tried on those boots myself. Very comfortable but I like a higher heel when I'm doing heels!
abo, the Welsh guy in the darts is a grandad to one of ds's friends!

AllBuggiedOut · 08/01/2011 17:31

Oh wow bloss! I was very disappointed he lost cos he looks like such a nice bloke. The DSs were rooting for Woolfie though...

VerityBrulee · 08/01/2011 17:34

Apuski love your purchases Smile

Bloss have your R&B shoeboots had an outing yet? Well done on the ebay listing, I hate that job, gave away a bag of stuff recently as I couldn't face ebaying it [lazy emoticon]

The iphone delivery didn't arrive, hopefully monday. Think I have a low-grade version of the flu that the dc have had all week, I have aches and pains and a temp. Poor dc have been wiped out by it, not waking until 8.30 these mornings which is unheard of for my early risers. I'm not looking forward to getting them all up at 7 on monday when they're back at school.

I've just put the last of the Christmas decorations in the attic, the house looks much more spacious now.

Bitterly cold here and very windy, snow forecast so definately hibernating for rest of the weekend. Trying not to look at the KG site!

LTEC where did you get the Marant-a-like?

Esher poor dd, hope she's on the mend now

Vin your morning sounds so stressful, well done for getting through it. I'm sure the interview went better than you think.

hells I just read your dd's exploits out to dc, made them laugh!

I'm going to bake something, I think, feel like something gooey and calorific. Pass the truffles Roma Smile

VerityBrulee · 08/01/2011 17:49

Trying to distract myself from chocolate cake by browsing NAP sale.

Reine how about these for your future sil?

Malane Birger

Alberta Feretti

Vivienne Westwood

Issa bargain

Also spotted this gorgeous dress for HH lovers here

LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2011 17:52

ooh just home and saw my name

VerityBrulee · 08/01/2011 17:56

Oh poor you, it's more than a week since I saw mine, still have bits of the emotional residue in my mind! Am considering a course in NLP to help me get over them more quickly.

Hope the food was good!

VerityBrulee · 08/01/2011 17:59

Have a couple of things in my Zara virtual shopping bag, will have a look, the cream would be good for me.

Trying not to make Leon brownies, but they are really good for you, all those almonds. Always think of your L when I open the book Smile

LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2011 18:16

food was great. .. had gorgeous mini sweet peppers stuffed with tuna and anchovies to start, followed by mackerel with kale and braised fennel. Delish.

You are sweet to think of my little fella :-) We have the second Leon book now too - equally as yum!

what is NLP?

VerityBrulee · 08/01/2011 18:21

Sounds like a good lunch!

NLP is Neuro Linguistic Programming, sort of a sophisticated version of positive thinking, helps you to eliminate negative thoughts, ie anything to do with the ILs Grin

Must look for new Leon book, am looking forward to eating there on my London trip.

OK, better make dinner. Trying to build up the troops so having steak, mashed potatoes, fried onions and mushrooms. Better make a salad too. See, we really don't need brownies!
