Hi cake have fun with your returns/swaps tonight would like to hear your views on the new season Zara stuff I reckon you would love the long sleeve red dress with flared skater style skirt altho prob too similar to your Xmas one. I also loved the elasticated leather mini skirt.

I have had some fun in the UO sale have grabbed a few summer tops for under a tenner each and am going to try out these in black and these in blue

Got to stop shopping and start working!!!

oops UO links don't work nevermind!

Who was asking abotu the VWA Donna - I just returned the purple Donna because I hated the thin fabric but I think the cut is good for petite curves

I personally don't like those cork wedges mac. I like the first glam sandals and the brown suede courts best. Those leopard prints have been very popular, lucky you if you can wear them to work!

fleecy, sorry to hear you had bad news. Late teens early twenties are significant years aren't they?
How lovely that choo got you the bag though.

notyummy, have a nice weekend away.

carciofi, those belstaffs are the ones in black that ltec and zembo have, and the ones that I sent back. The length wasn't right on me, and I believe they're not the ones to wear if you're trying clothes on! (Because of the straps!)

macmama · 07/01/2011 16:22

Thanks bloss. I agree about the wedges - the heel is just too blah.

I like the tan courts best but can't wear to work unfortunately.

Can I wear the leopards too work uummm prob not if I was being honest!

Calling Bonsoir and Roman - just seen that House of Fraser now do international delivery which is free on orders over 50 pounds - makes Phase Eight etc available to us non-UK residents!. I wish John Lewis would hurry up and so the same!

Ta for sizing info Bloss (my first lot of corporate widow allowance is burning a hole in my new bank account....!) and really pleased you liked top LTEC

Bonsoir · 07/01/2011 17:08

DCs are asleep, DH is cooking my dinner, so I can settle down for a catch up.

Vin, glad to hear the interview went well (though not impressed by someone telling you your experience wasn't relevant - unprofessional as well as not true).

My interview lasted two and a half hours (gulp), so I am well and truly shattered. It went OK, but if I had to bet I'd say I won't get it. It's an internal role (am on redundancy notice) so if I don't get it, I'll likely be offered a job I don't want, so will take redundancy instead. I should find out on Monday.

Everything, as I said on your thread, I'm sorry that you didn't get the place, I really hope you find something just as good or better very soon so it doesn't become drawn out. And good luck with telling our parents, hopefully it won't come as a total surprise for them.

Re the meet-up, I have to say, I'd assumed as a part-timer here that I wouldn't go, but so many people are going to be there it sounds like a great opportunity to meet. DH is in the 'bit unsure' camp, so will see.

Grr, ds2 just woken up, teeth troubles! Back later, maybe to actually talk about links!

ApuskiDusky · 07/01/2011 20:15

LOL everything, your parents - as we are not in fact sisters!

hellsbelles · 07/01/2011 20:21

well done you two - with your interviews. Fingers crossed for you!

LOL at 'our' parents!

We got a visit from the police. Someone (DD) had called 999 (by mistake) and left the phone off the hook while singing Balamory (!). I think they legally have to check but it was very embarrassing (if quite funny).

ApuskiDusky · 07/01/2011 20:31

That's hilarious, hells! I don't suppose they introduced themselves as PC Plum did they?!

DolceeBanana · 07/01/2011 20:35

Absolutely mental day here too...rather frazzled so have opened the Sauv. Blanc whilst dh picks up treat of the week....mm..mmm

Fleecy- and Choo - oh, how lovely...about Choo ordering the pouch for you. So kind....Smile

Everything - Vin is totally right. Something better will come up and landlord doesn't deserve you!

Vin - bet you did very well...you are amazing! Do not underestimate yourself. Although a typical start (in my experience) to a day you hope will go well!

DolceeBanana · 07/01/2011 20:38

Oh Hells - that is such a fantastic story! Was just thinking about you. Rather spookily. Thinking I should have bought your sequin dress!!! Bet it looks lovely on.

LetThemEatCake · 07/01/2011 20:43

Well done on getting through the interviews vin and apuski!!

Quickly checking in from Westfield.. Have so far acquired studded shoe boots and the pink reiss dress... Tried it on for size and discovered I've ordered too big from asos... So back it will go, wonder if I can cancel order, will check when home.

Oooh, there's cos.. See you later Wink

Hells that's hilarious

Lol at our diffs of temperament Everything Grin

I am the nutter who has just pulled all of the fish out of my sushi so as to avoid the rice

Buttered baguette sounds unbelievably good

Right, add black silver Marant rip off sweater (but only £19!!) to haul. Next stop birthday card for mil and then I'm done

Romanholiday · 07/01/2011 21:48

Good news about HoF OWW thanks. I have been trawling the KG website, but don't really feel like shopping. Hope I'm not coming down with something Grin

Well done with the interviews today. Very tiring and stressful, I'm sure. Fingers crossed for good news.

Bonsoir they don't have English text books, though they have some reading books (stories - ds1 has something by Roald Dahl at the moment). They use work sheets and websites (like 'Razkids') otherwise. The whole reading and phonics thing has me completely confused. We're told to prioritise French reading, and they do phonics in French. But for some reason ds3 calls the letters by their English names, rather than sounding them (he is in MS). He wants to learn to read, and guesses reads words on signs and labels with the nearest French word he can think of to match the letters. I'm assuming it will all come out in the wash

I was amazed that a dress code doc could be so long, and go to details like the 'haleine fraiche' and the importance of comfy shoes so that you can meet clients with a relaxed facial expression, or whatever it was.

bloss my dh never passes things on either!

Welcome back roary

eshermummy · 07/01/2011 22:04

So, was mn-ing away quite happily this morning when doorbell went. Was postie with boden parcel (stuff for dd1) so I brought parcel in and opened kitchen drawer for scissors, opened parcel. All the while dd2 was happily playing next door in the playroom. I unwrapped a couple of things then decided to take them upstairs and put in dd1's bedroom. Cue hysterical screaming from dd2 so I rush back downstairs to find that she had run into kitchen from playroom and impaled her forehead on the (very sharp) corner of the drawer
Abolutely HUGE bump on head appears immediately and what looks like a nasty cut (although dd2 too hysterical to allow mummy to probe or the application of ice). Rushed her up to GP's surgery (less than 5 mins in car) where they claim there is noone in the building to take a look Hmm and we should go to A&E if worried. I wasn't really sure whether A&E was totally necesary hence my trying the surgery for a professional opinion so put dd2 back in car and took her over to local walk in centre where they cleaned it up and glued it.
So my lovely calm day of doing nothing didn't quite pan out and all because I tempted fate with my comments to OWW about boys and A&E!! I knew that would happen.....am saying nothing about Hells' police visit today lest that should be dd2's next trick!

LTEC enjoy Westfield

NY thanks for the pm, let me know the final outcome Smile

Vin and Apuski well done on interviews. am sure you have both done better than you think. Is normal to only remember the less positive bits but I bet there were lots of positives too. Fingers crossed for you both.

hi Dolcee

Am guessing Tracey is deep in mortgage-land and the like and hence not around.

Everything have a good scoff - I am, DH ordered an Indian take-away earlier and besides it taking over an hour to arrive (they can NEVER find our house Angry) it was delicious Smile
Now internet browsing to my heart's content.

Are me and MrsJ the only ones who have ordered from the KG sale - some great bargains to be had, esp if you can do high, high heels (I can't)

traceybath · 07/01/2011 22:13

Hello!

On iPad so slow typing. Have caught up and fingers crossed re interviews.

Busy day here, finance hopefully in place just need survey sorting but all moving v fast as I guess Market so slow. Not excited yet though although did have sneaky look at plain English site yesterday.

In laws here and I am off to sisters tomorrow.

Poor dd and you eager.

Everything sorry about the house.

traceybath · 07/01/2011 22:14

And bloss love that jacket.

Ltec have fun!

Bonsoir · 07/01/2011 23:14

Roma - thank you for that info. Your school sounds as English curriculum-light as ours. I don't think DD is learning anything at all in her English class this year (learns plenty at home, however). Ho hum.

pickledsiblings · 08/01/2011 00:24

Ladies with the ipads, you need to turn off autocorrect. Go to settings / general / keyboard to do so. It took me aboutna week to work that out Smile.

To do links you need the square brackets which can be found by clicking the left hand 123 button on the keyboard and then the button to the left above. HTH.

I had a fabby day (as DS2 would say) in London. Tis just as well I love the rain. Needless to say I have blown both the budget for Jan and Feb. Still, I do have 2 new dress, 1 pair of boots, 1 pair of ... shorts and 2 gap long sleeve t shirts.

Thank you so much Esher and Choo for the lowdown on where to go. Of course I went to both the Brunswick Centre and Covent Garden. Didn't manage to get my lovely blouse from Warehouse though as it has closed down Shock.

Hells your police visit made me laugh so much and vin, I am ashamed to say that I chortled at how ridiculous your morning was. I do hope It all goes how you want it to. For you too Apuski.

I now have 8 pressure washed apple crates in my dining room, all the way from France

LTEC what does your DH think of the pink Reiss dress? I remember him thinking the pink ruffle one from Oasis was prom like Smile. You have bought some very pretty dresses over the last few months. Which is your favourite? I bet the purple HH is gorgeous on you. Are you wearing that for the meet up? I seriously do not have anything fancy - fancy just doesn't work on me. And by fancy I mean elegant/sophisticated/chic.

Anyway I am babbling now so will say goodnight Smile.

LetThemEatCake · 08/01/2011 00:42

pickled dresses are my weakness I have a gazillion of the buggers. Only 3 pairs of jeans and a handful of tops though. And about 2 skirts.

I am not elegant/ sophisticated/ chic either but I am tall and possibly deluded about what suits me - and surrounded by people too kind to say otherwise Wink

anyway yes - Dh loves the pink dress. And I got the fab women-coming-out-of-their-cubicles in the changerooms to 'ooooh' thing so I am going to take that as a yes.

He (dh) hates the studded shoe boots I bought (Bertie - £125 down to £38 and probably with good reason Grin) and said, scathingly, that all those nights I spent watching Footballers Wives are having more and more of a delayed reactiony type effect on me. Wink Can't seem to find a link - again probably with good reason!! I love them though Smile

He loves the Marant rip off sweater - here is the original

God esher poor dd - how horrid Sad Glad she is okay.
tracey enjoy your sister's - are you having your Bil do your hair? Am beyond excited about your house Smile

Right best get to bed as lunch at Jamie's Italian for Mil's b'day tomorrow and need to be ready for the intense scrutiny (from her, that is)

enjoy your saturdays, all.
