Bunny I love the sound of your nanny. So... Civilised Grin.

Actually I am happier now than ever. But it does make you feel grateful for all the good stuff too.

I had a bit of time when things were tough, due to dh's family, and you kind of forget all the great things. So it's a bit like a re-awakening. Friends, memories and family.

MarshaBrady · 09/12/2010 16:42

Ah yes I will find one and get it to you some way yangy!! Love your photo btw!! Smile

Yes my mother says every phone call. These are the best years of your life, enjoy them! Grin

Her mother told her this when we were young. The pressure!

I am enjoying them. I nearly cried at the nativity yesterday due to over emotion Grin

MarshaBrady · 09/12/2010 16:54

Hope the journey home is fast yang! For cuddles.

VerityBrulee · 09/12/2010 16:58

Bloss thinking of you and dd today. DH loves mince pies too, loves it when I make them, though more often it's M&S. I always cry at nativities, even thinking about them makes me cry. Dc have their christmas play next week and I will spend the whole time telling myself not to cry Xmas Blush

Bunny you are amazing, I was just thinking the other day about you talking about ttc and now you have thriving twins. Good work Smile

marsha when I was in college I was obsessed with John Galliano and Romeo Gigli, romantic drapey dresses. My v clever mum made me lots of Galliano-esque dresses, which I used to wear to my economics lectures. Raised a few eyebrows amongst the prematurely middle aged male students. I also had a fantastic collection of hats, I never went out without a hat. I still love a good hat actually. I had fantastic fun with clothes at that time

MarshaBrady · 09/12/2010 17:08

Verity that sounds incredible. Economics lectures you say? Are you a mixture of economics / creativity?

I know re crying. I nearly cried at the reception children. So tiny,so sweet!

And yes to Bunny, you are doing so well. Smile

VerityBrulee · 09/12/2010 17:10

LTEC hope your chest is better, look after yourself.

We finally got out of the house yesterday 20 min sch run took an hour, then I spent the morning catching up on my christmas shopping. Feel a bit better now I know most of it is done.

Made a purchase today, feeling a bit guilty but trying to justify it on the grounds of years of wear! After slipping up and then down the icy hill to my college I went straight to the shoe shop and bought these in black leather. They are very grippy and toasty warm, so a necessity really!

Roary enjoy your trip Xmas Envy We had a glorious year in Sydney when boys were 2 and 4, it was bliss. The trip home, Sydney-San Francisco-Frankfurt-Dublin when I was 29 weeks pregnant is not such a happy memory!

Carciofi good luck with your move, hope you have many happy years in your new home. Might see you in BTs on first day of sale Xmas Smile

VerityBrulee · 09/12/2010 17:13

Marsha I was a very square peg in a round hole. I quite enjoyed the subject, but could not fathom my classmates who in turn thought I was from another planet. I mean lots of them were nice, but they just couldn't work me out!

carciofi · 09/12/2010 17:27

Having a 5 minute break.

Nice boots Verity. Next move will be a permanent move to Malahide!

blossoming · 09/12/2010 17:57

Last Saturday, after I had got down the hill and raced off to London, it rained here and promptly froze solid. So bad that no one was able to go down or up or even walk until tea time. Cars were in the ditch or round lamp-posts. My father said he was 'walking on his behind'!!

Anyway, my MIL parked at the bottom and was able to walk up because she had these ice runners attached to her shoes. Yes, people run on ice apparently. I have bought 4 pairs, for me and dh, and for my parents. (My dad is 75 on the 23rd. Don't like to think of last Saturday's scenario!)

Glad you're out of the house verity. It's thawing nicely here now.

They're saying round here that it'll be cold again next week, and that this is just the beginning of what we can expect this winter. I am therefore jumping on the opportunity to head to Chester tomorrow and doing vital shopping in the glorious(?) Greyhound park. Toys 'r' Us, Hobbycraft and Mothercare (for ELC). Wish me luck. Although I can leave ds with my mum as she always takes him to school on a Friday, at 8am, so could be there just after 9am.
Then the big wine shop at Sainsburys on the way home.

My photo is in the local paper. I am standing behind my stall and ds is standing next to me holding a bar of soap. The sequins on the dress look nice, but I wish I'd had my hair cut before the night, rather than after!

blossoming · 09/12/2010 17:59

Meant to say, traceybath, did you put that 50p bet on?

traceybath · 09/12/2010 18:23

Wish I had Bloss! Wink

Just ordered a few bits for the dc's and a cashmere jumper for me.

Oh meant to say on way back from school run yesterday a deer jumped in front of the car on our lane and joined its 6 friends galloping across the field - was a magical moment as fields looked like something out of Narnia.

traceybath · 09/12/2010 18:27

Am hoping to pick up some warm boots in the sales but those look lovely VB and glad you're out of the house.

Bloss - you need to set up a website and start selling your lovely sewing.

blossoming · 09/12/2010 19:06

Thanks traceybath. I'm off to hobbycraft tomorrow to buy supplies to make tree decorations (blatant copy of some I saw in JL last week), and my first attempt at crayon rolls! I'm hoping to shift rest of stock in Christmas fair on 19th.

traceybath · 09/12/2010 20:04

Esher - how was the my-wardrobe gilet?

Just watching Nigella make tiramisu - yummy indeed.

notyummy · 09/12/2010 20:28

Hi all. Blossoming your earlier post was beautiful and I hope you had the time and space to reflect today. I hope you have a successful haul tomorrow- oh and I am sure DH is going to love what you have made!

Bunny What great news about the twins. Well done you.

Carciofi- Hope the move goes ok and will look forward to welcoming you back after Xmas.

Roary- hope the journey goes ok.

Hm, me at 22. I genuinely had no idea about designers. Little money. Seem to recall Miss Selfridge being my main port of call. I do remember buying a really short tight dress from Jigsaw (They must gave been a bit edgier then because it is not the sort of thing you would see there now.)

Nativity today! So lovely. Was quite long with lots of songs.

Well the Gap coated skinnies arrived today, and on balance I have decided that I really like them. Thanks to those who advised me to get a 4. I am VERY pleased that a 4 fits perfectly and won't hear a word about Gap vanity sizingGrin. They aren't quite as long as I hoped, but will still work. They are no way near as shiney as the ones that Liz was wearing yesterday - although I am still slightly worried about carrying them off since I saw that photo!

traceybath · 09/12/2010 20:34

NY provided you don't wear a see-through top over a very visible bra - well I think you'll be fine Wink

Yes Bunny - well done on the bunnykins.

DD has started having quite major tantrums (16 months) - mostly she just likes to be naked - ho hum.

mrsjuan · 09/12/2010 20:54

Tracey - P has had a mega tantrum this evening - actually very funny to watch because she kept pausing to check what she looked like in the mirror whilst screaming and stamping her feet and then looking from me to DH to see our reaction. All because I took a tube of toothpaste away from her Confused

Your house must be toasty if she wants to be naked - I have difficulty prising P's coat from her!

Bet you look fab in your size 4s NY.

Hope everything goes well in your new home Carciofi Merry Christmas!

Bloss you inspired me to make some mince pies tomorrow so popped to supermarket earlier to pick up supplies. Couldn't find the mincemeat so asked assistant who took me to <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Images/ExternalImages/ProductsDetailed/75/024775.jpg%3Fts%3D634056304080&imgrefurl=www.mysupermarket.co.uk/sainsburys-price-comparison/Tinned_Meat_And_Poultry/Sainsburys_Premium_Minced_Beef_And_Onions_Lean_198g.html&usg=__JEeLRxRtrcSTV3sUoN9HIKu-YMA=&h=246&w=300&sz=32&hl=en&start=75&zoom=0&tbnid=Kfm5C-5ZzBmzsM:&tbnh=95&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtinned%2Bmeat%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENUK360%26biw%3D1263%26bih%3D617%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C2187&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=187&vpy=301&dur=282&hovh=95&hovw=116&tx=54&ty=43&ei=wEABTfKyA5T24gbHsoz0Ag&oei=s0ABTfqWKMiAhQfikOXtBw&esq=5&page=5&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:75&biw=1263&bih=617" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this. Decided to make my request clearer to the next assistant I asked and added 'to make mince pies'. She lead me half way round the supermarket before ending back up at the tinned meat aisle again. Found it myself in the end amongst the jelly.

Have spent so much time writing Christmas cards today. Every year I vow to create some sort of spreadsheet to print out address labels but never get round to it.

Zembo · 09/12/2010 21:03

Phew NY relieved you like the gap skinnies, I've been having a few doubts about mine since I saw Liz in hers!! Glad to hear nativity went well and that you made it there.

Carciofi good luck with the move, remember no heavy lifting Grin

Bloss you are truly inspiring.

Me at 22 - have deleted from memory.

Esher finally received the snow boots today - they're great, very toasty indeed. Also got the ASOS gilet - although lovely don't think I'll get enough wear out of them (esp since I'm going to Bangladesh for 3 weeks next Sat!)so will be returning. Still dithering about the synthetic boots, I like them but they're synthetic (issues all in my head).

Roary wishing you a fab holiday (and flight). I'm travelling with my 2 DC (aged 4.5 and 2 yrs), no DH. Flight is direct so 'only' about 10 hours. I've done it twice before (on own) and it's hard work but worth it for the wonderful welcome that will await me at the end of the journey.

traceybath · 09/12/2010 21:06

Zembo - I wouldn't keep the synthetic boots - sweaty feet being one of my phobias Blush. Is DH going with you to Bangladesh? And whats the shopping like there?

Zembo · 09/12/2010 21:15

Tracey I know you have issues with feet Smile but I think you're right - which is why I'm dithering so much. I'm leaving DH behind to fend for himself. We're going to Dhaka - manic, noisy, overpopulated and seriously colourful and lively place. The shopping can be good but all that haggling is hard work and I'm not that good at it.

Zembo · 09/12/2010 21:16

Has anyone seen any alternative black LEATHER ankle boots with a high chunky heel?

mrsjuan · 09/12/2010 21:19

Zembo - there's some on brand alley. I saw them earlier and thought of you. Give me a minute and I'll try to link them
