Oh my God, I choked (try and hum along to We Three Kings...)!! But here is the new thread.

So glad you had a good time rufus and happy you like your hair!

fritzi, I fear giving up sugar is like giving up smoking: all or nothing. I did reintroduce dessert on a Sunday for a while but it made me uncomfortable so I stopped that too. I eat protein and complex carbs at 2.5 hr intervals and that staves off hunger. I have a banana every day but no other fruit. No honey, fruit juice or dried fruit.
Thanks for the boots link. I was set to buy but they were out of stock. I did find some other similar ones though.

DolceeBanana · 28/11/2010 21:58

Helloooo....Cake...your night out seemed like a lot of fun! The nutter with the Gok Wan image makeover is hysterical...though obviously not on a day to day basis...

I know someone who is seriously lacking in self awareness, has rather unfortunate ways of expressing themselves verbally and physically, and uses rather cringe-making, naff, coporate style jargon constantly, yet has started up her own business as an image consultant! It beggars belief....but there you go! Grin

Well, the Hobbs coat was a bit of a pain...JL did not send an 8, they sent a 10 which was supposedly out of stock...and the 10 was a bit Michelin man, or so I thought. Shame, as was 25% off this weekend. So, on account of being an impatient soul, I raced to Cribbs and got a Gap down coat in black shiny, which dh reckons is like water tank lagging...Hmm. It's so warm and cosy, knee length, and though more wise than avid, I do really like it!

It's blooming cold...I want some of those boots Tracey for house purposes too!

Oh, we had a lovely understated party too today, which dh took the eldest ones too and I stayed at home and relished the peace for a nano-second...

Hope the bunnies are all well.

Zembo, hope you are okay.

carciofi · 28/11/2010 22:29

Rufus, glad you had a good time.

Dolcee, I have a Gap down coat for years now, so toasty.

I sold a few things on eBay so used the Harrods discount a second time to order the matching wallet as got it half price. I have no money left to put in it but never mind.

Bloss, made the lamb and spinach curry from the I Love Curry book and DH was very impressed. He keeps asking me if I am really meeting a Mumsnet friend next week and thinks it is so kind that you sent me the dresses.

I like this but this is a bit cheaper, what do you think? Not sure about the ruffle.

We are moving in less than two weeks and I haven't even started packing yet.

blossoming · 28/11/2010 22:50

Great curry isn't it carciofi. We had the beef madras the other day. Also delicious.
Re cardigans, I say get the one you want!
My dh also thinks you're all men trying to lead me astray!

OllieWollieWoo · 29/11/2010 08:49

Morning.

Carciofi - nice cardigans. Know Kew doesn't always get it right but I am really pleased with his shrug here also available on JL website - may be a bit bagg and shapeless for some but very soft and warm and goes with almost all tops I own!

Dolcee - did the school run on my down coat today and was toasty so think you will get a lot of wear out of yours.
Fritzi loved your links for Pickled. Even tho I have no DD, I tried to look up the owl dress but couldn't see it!
Notyummy - good advice re not starting Shred and Dukan at the same time. Like MM, I've never been on a diet before - just used to cut back on carbs and chocolate if I wanted to lose a few pounds but now feel the need to do something more drastic! Hope you feel better today MM.
Rufus glad you had a good London trup and haircut sounds great.
Roary - how are you? Were the Drs able to help - hope so?
Finally - Bunny - hope all is well with you and the little bunnies and that you will be home soon.

Meant to say - whoever kindly offered to send me a Zara scarf, my sister picked one up for me and is sending as part of my bday present but thank you anyway.

Off now to do my Monday morning house clean up......

notyummy · 29/11/2010 09:17

Morning all!

Bunny - will add my good wishes to OWW's - hope you are feeling ok and enjoying your new born girls...and managing just a little bit of sleep.

I like those cardigans too Carciofi.

Glad you enjoyed your time in London Rufus.

Well I am working from home in an unscheduled manner today due to the weather. We had a big fall on Saturday, although the main roads were fine. Of course, none of it has gone and is now frozen solid. On top of that was an additional couple of inches last night...and it is still snowing. I think the main roads are probably clear, but we have a severe weather warning out for snow today, and I had a vision of driving for 90 minutes (at least...) to get to work, only to discover that DDs school had closed. With no DH or mothers help, its all on me. I have decided that discretion is the better part of valour!

hellsbelles · 29/11/2010 10:04

just a quickie....banana republic code UKGIFT at checkout gives you 25% entire order for 5 days?!!

carciofi · 29/11/2010 10:22

NY, good decision to stay home. Brr.

blossoming · 29/11/2010 10:22

Morning all.
That sounds like a wise move notyummy. It is frozen solid here too but no fresh snow. Dh wanted to stay home but I figure our drive is the worst bit. I need to go to the bank, it's only open between 10 and 2 Monday and Friday! But the car is only just back from being fixed and I'm scared of bumping it again. I can't face the walk down again now I've warmed up!
Am making chilli for lunch.

roary · 29/11/2010 10:57

I'm back!! Apparently it was food poisoning hence long duration. Still have a funny appetite but feeling much better. And.... My lovely mom saw a cheap flight and booked it on Friday and arrives in an hour!!! Very excited as is dd even if dh is a little less so. They butt heads a bit. So thanks for health wishes especially from zembo who is sweet to think of me right now. Hope you are holding up.

ltec party sounds hilarious. hells I also want to know the questions!! I live with the delusion that no one can be bothered lurking here.

roary · 29/11/2010 10:58

ny v wise. Can't trust uk drivers in snow!!

Romanarama · 29/11/2010 11:01

Morning all, it's been snowing here, but it hasn't really settled. I've decided to heat only my study through the cold snap - I usually make do with no heating but a woolly blanket, but it's about -5 outside today and only 10o inside with no heating on, so a bit too mean even for me. Nice weekend of park in the cold, pizza, tea and homework by the roaring fire. Dh has now gone away again to somewhere even colder, poor thing.

I really recommend you get winter tyres for your cars everyone. They increase grip when the temperature is low (they're recommended for I think below 7o) and they really make all the difference when it snows. I feel much more comfortable that I won't be caught out.

yesterday I went to the park in long shearling joseph coat, coyote fur hat, brand skinnies, highland socks and waterproof lined Timberlands, Hobbs white wool roll neck jumper. I was practically hot - would have been fine in Siberia!

notyummy · 29/11/2010 11:30

Glad you are feeling better Roary.

So glad I made the call not to travel. It has been dumping it down with snow for the last 2 hours!!

The only problem (well, not the only problem...) is that this weather makes me want to eat warm comfort food - and I can't go running Angry

Have ended up with a low fat yoghurt and scheduled a session on my cross trainer this PM. But it's not the same as a biscuit and a run Grin

pickledsiblings · 29/11/2010 13:05

Oh Roma we had homework by a roaring fire last night and it was so nice, one of those lovely moments.

I love the sound of your 'park' outfit, soooo cosy and fashionable, I really need to work on both of those atm.

roary we had some horrible tummy bug thing last week but it was all over and done with in 24hrs (per person). Food poisoning sounds awful. When your mum arrives I'm sure you'll get back to enjoying your food again.

traceybath · 29/11/2010 13:13

Afternoon and brrrr. Frosty freezing here but luckily no snow since Friday.

DS2 still poorly so lots of cuddles on the sofa today.

Waiting for dhl mean to collect pointelss outnet order (don't ask).

Am going to pop over to Harvey Nichols tomorrow night as its the discount evening thing that Choo went to in London.

Roary - hope you feel a lot better soon - proper food poisoning is horrid.

Zembo - hope you're having an ok day at work.

Bunny - when are you home I wonder . . .

hellsbelles · 29/11/2010 13:22

I'm thrilled with my super snuggly coat (that Tracey alerted me to)...so warm I almost don't mind that it's cold outside (though I do look like a walking duvet Wink)

I was too drunk to remember specific questions - nothing horrid though don't worry! But yes we do have lots of lovely lurkers...hopefully they will join in soon (or perhaps I've scared them off even more Grin)

Rufus - your weekend sounds wonderful as does your hair!

Roary - hope you are mending. Proper food poisoning is so debilitating...

AllBuggiedOut · 29/11/2010 13:52

Just scooting through post-shred, pre-dismantling DS3s cot bed before arrival of full-size single this afternoon (wonder if I'll ever use the cot again, slightly wistful...)

Can somebody recommend keep-my-toes-toasty socks please? I want to point DH in the direction of some for my christmas stocking.

roary glad you're better; how was the J Crew haul?

Was told I was looking glam at toddler group this morning. Very chuffed! Was wearing long brown Bertie boots, cord khaki skirt, khaki Gap merino sweater and tree necklace.

pickledsiblings · 29/11/2010 13:58

ABO I remember your tree necklace - it's lovely. What size is the tree?

hellsbelles · 29/11/2010 14:15

Has anyone got a current my-wardrobe code?..Tethers is tempted by a dress but it's a bit over budget.

AllBuggiedOut · 29/11/2010 14:54

Hi pickled - from the top of the loop to the bottom of the tree is 1.5 inches. The dog is gorgeous too; similar proportions.
