Not so inspired but I do so hate being threadless.

Can anyone recommend a good hairdryer? Mine is ancient and not very effective. I have straight shoulder-length hair and use a paddle brush.

Thx hells- It looks a bit complicated with those different phases but looks mainly to be a high protein/ low carb diet, I think.
I don't diet myself (would end up far too skinny) but always interesting to know about these things :)

vino- I like you new skirt.

monkeysmama · 19/11/2010 21:41

Zembo please take some time for you. Whatever you decide to tell your manager, work will always be there. I've been thinking about you all day. I hope you're ok.

Esher I so wish I'd taken your advice on the Aigle Everywarm. It has been banished. Didn't even bother to try it on. Think I'll go with the North Face Arctic Parka.

Bloss I saw the worse thing EVER today. A man doing a poo in the street while skinning up/rolling a cigarette!? WTF! The circumstances made it even worse - I was pushing dd along the Thames riverfront and we were marvelling at how beautiful it looked all lit up with lots of Christmas stalls. And then we turn a mini corner to get the lift and there he was.

The best moment of today (& possibly my year) was dd at the Tate in a crowd of twenty very serious people all looking a a Dali painting when she studied it then shouted "a man is licking a mamma's boobies" Grin.

blossoming · 19/11/2010 21:43

40denier, I just asked dh and he said not long at all. Elle magazine last month reckoned it was like giving up heroin!! I did have some Sunday desserts in the first few months, but hated how I felt after them so I gave up completely. You have to be careful though - horseradish, soy sauce, salad dressings, mayonnaise, yoghurts. My favourite walkers Thai sweet chilli crisps. It is really worth it though.

Zembo I'm so sorry. Make sure you take plenty of time off. I'd have thought a week at a minimum. Your line manager doesn't need to know the details, unless you want them to.
Vin I use Liz Earle cleanser, and find it fantastic.

blossoming · 19/11/2010 21:50

monkeysmama, how disturbing.

monkeysmama Shock I tend to forget about things like that in my London nostalgia. ROFL at DD's comment at Tate.

CHOOGIRL · 19/11/2010 22:11

Zembo Am so sorry. and will say a prayer for you tonight.

All of you looking for hairdryers. My hairdresser recommends this which I have, but am rather Blush to admit I rarely wash my own hair. I'm lucky it only need washing every 10 days or so before you start thinking I am some high maintenance city type Grin

Went to Harvey Nicks tonight. Tried on Bec, but they only had in Navy and zip was a bit stiff. Currently have purple in my online shopping basket..to bec or not to bec that is the question?

Roma can I be our mumsnet mate too?

FritziGreenEyes · 19/11/2010 22:16

choo Yes to Bec and thanks for hairdryer link. Have put in my Amazon basket.

Have you all seen WIT today? Not sure about the dress. And sorry to be boring but I wouldn't pay that price for polyester.

blossoming · 19/11/2010 22:20

Oh go on choo. I have a Bec and I rarely go out! I think the purple would look stunning on you. Effortlessly chic, what more could you ask for?

I'm actually (perversely) loving WIT this week. She looks far less polished and perfect. I haven't enjoyed many of the outfits either. Though I will forever be in love with her for the special breton, fur outfit.

eshermummy · 19/11/2010 22:34

Zembo am so so sorry to hear your news Sad. I hope your dh is taking good care of you over the weekend until Monday. Rest up and conserve your energy.

MM. Shame the Aigle was no good for you either.
Do you know, i had a similar thing happen to me re pooing in streets just before we left London. I was pushing dd1 in buggy home from nursery when a man started fiddling with his trousers in front of us. I thought he was going to flash us but no, he did a poo Shock. The weirdest thing was it was early evening rush hour on a busy road and he was only a few feet away from a long queue of people waiting for a bus - none of whom seemed to notice. It was revolting though and the biggest driver in making me feel that i had had enough of living in Central London and that it was time to move out.

monkeysmama · 19/11/2010 22:36

Esher we have the same clothes, we have the similar poo experiences. It is uncanny Grin.

eshermummy · 19/11/2010 22:43

I know MM - am amazed as noone else i know who lives in London has ever had a poo experience. DH who was born and bred in the area where said incident occurred was incredulous and most people I have told are a bit Hmm, as in they think I must have been mistaken but it definitely did happen.

FritziGreenEyes · 19/11/2010 22:45

Everything, can't see cake but I'm sure DS had a fab birthday!

Think I'd better order that hairdryer or it will be out of stock soon!

eshermummy · 19/11/2010 22:54

For anyone searching for a smart not too high shoeboot - I bought these today. I was going to get my sis to bring me over some Edelman shoeboots a la Cake and Choo from the States but panicked at the last minute that they would be too high or not fit. Good job really as the ones I bought today are 7cm heel and I have realised that is pretty much my limit these days Blush.

eshermummy · 19/11/2010 22:57

Sorry, I also meant to say Everything I have caught up on thread and can see you've had a bit of a crapola week too so hope you get a chance to chill and enjoy yourself over the weekend.

Some prolific posting this week ladies!!

pickledsiblings · 19/11/2010 23:23

Great shoe boots eshermummy, I will definitely have to investigate further. Did you go for the grey or the black?

pickledsiblings · 19/11/2010 23:27

Ohh, £30 off in Debenhams.

Zembo · 20/11/2010 06:10

Morning ladies, so lovely to see all your messages.

Looby I don't actually mind waiting until Monday for the scan as I'm fairly sure of what's happened. Also sure you're a lovely GP! DH is a thoracic surgeon so when I say medical I really mean surgical! I think my GP was prob tired at the end of morning surgery when they fitted me in. She does know that both DH and I are NHS though!

I've decided not to disclose the diagnosis at work, I think it'll be a lot easier for me if I don't talk about it there. I'm one of those people who never take time off sick so work colleagues will wonder what's up. I won't go in on Monday and then I'll see how I feel.

I'm taking my DD to her swimming lesson and then both going to a birthday party this pm, but will take it easy. DH gone into carer mode so great. I tend to minimise symptoms etc, but DH saw level of bleeding etc yesterday (sorry tmi) and was a bit shocked. I was exhausted yesterday and went to bed at 8pm.

Fritzi this is the haridryer I have. They use them in Aveda salons. I'd definitely recommend.
