Come join me!
Not so inspired but I do so hate being threadless.

I would definitely tell your line manager Zembo - you don't want to worry about work on monday at all.

Now be kind to yourself and take it easy.

Sad
blossoming · 19/11/2010 14:34

Yes, definitely tell your line manager zembo, and take time off to grieve. Thinking about you.

bunnymother · 19/11/2010 14:36

OWW - told DH about your DH's flash mob experience and he was all Shock that he didn't just call in sick or slink off for a drink somewhere quiet when it was all going on. DH more stubborn than a mule and refuses to engage in anything he finds remotely embarrassing. I have a lot of fun w that.

Zembo - hope you also getting some light relief from the thread. Have been thinking about you all day. I wouldn't tell work anything apart from having health issues and having some tests - can't see anything to gain. One of my close gf had a MC at similar stage and found it quite tough, although we have talked about it quite a bit and I was saying that she should give herself whatever time and space she needs to grieve (she was trying to "move on" the next week). Kick in the shins for bloody GP - even if its not confirmed, its still upsetting! Kisses to your darling DCs.

Vin - yes yes yes to moving to Paris. I can totally see it! And I will come to Gare du Nord for flash mob, too. You saying good bye to P is something I wouldn't miss!! Esp if it involves a move to delightful Paris.

Bloss - you could take over the world w your willpower - well done on the weight loss!! That is so impressive!

notyummy - good luck this weekend! Are you taking a Nancy Mitford novel to help you "set the scene"? Looking forward to hearing snippets.

Indulging in listening to Verdi's Il Trovatore here while DD out w Wonder Nanny - one of the joys of my life. Talk to you all later!

hellsbelles · 19/11/2010 15:01

Zembo - sorry GP was so rubbish. I don't know why but they all tend to be about this Sad.

With work its tricky - as of course we don't know your line manager. I would like to be able to say categorically that you should tell them exactly what's going on...but perhaps it's best not to put in their minds that pregnancy is in your plans (sorry to put it so bluntly - but I know of some managers who would, even though it's strictly illegal, not promote someone who they thought might take maternity leave in future).

So I would err on the side of caution and go with Bunny's suggestion of saying 'personal health issues'. However if you trust your manager then of course tell them.

I know how you feel and my heart aches for you. You will get through this whatever the outcome but I'm so sorry that you have to.

Bonsoir · 19/11/2010 15:04

Marsha - party is tomorrow and I have been zooming all over Paris trying to buy things that are missing - bought champagne glasses and serving dishes in Astier de Villatte - must rush to Monoprix while DD is at tennis to get last basic ingredients. Am also stupidly tired as DD and I spent yesterday evening putting up party decorations and we both went to bed far too late! Will try to have an early night...

bunnymother · 19/11/2010 15:05

Hells - you and I share the same concerns re divulging pregnancy plans...

Romanarama · 19/11/2010 15:50

Zembo be careful about work. It depends what they're like really. I'd say personal health or something if the environment's not sympathetic. Mind you I line manage lots of people and would be entirely sympathetic.

Good luck with party bonsoir, it's a lot of work, isn't it?

pickledsiblings · 19/11/2010 15:59

this scarf is very similar to the one WIT lady was wearing with the horrible midi.

I know a few of you liked it.

Zembo · 19/11/2010 16:11

I think my line manager would be very sympathetic; it's the publicising that another mat leave is on my agenda that's the problem. We're thin on the ground at the moment due to various other mat leaves so it would probably be better if I keep my issues a bit vague. Will just need to choose what I say carefully. I don't really want to take too much time off work due to work pressures and also prob better to be at work. So sorry to hear others have been through this too - it's really common isn't it?

This thread is a lovely distraction from everyday life as always Smile No doubt I'll soon be looking for ways to cheer myself up!

40deniertights · 19/11/2010 16:32

Zembo, feel awkward giving advice as I don't know you or your circumstances, but just wanted to say again how sorry I am. You must look after your own wellbeing, it's too important.

Bonsoir · 19/11/2010 16:57

Romanarama - Yes, party is a lot of work (but I do really enjoy the creativity of giving parties). I've got another largish dinner party next week (completely different people) and I can recycle/extend some of the ideas from tomorrow's (quite tame) party.

We're going to Brussels on 4 December for a massive party - maybe you'll be there?!

ReineDeSaba · 19/11/2010 18:40

Thanks hells all very exciting.

40D I prefer the 2nd pair too and particularly like Bonsoir's styling of them.

sorry missed NY but trip sounds heavenly and plenty of outfit options there.

OWW I think this could be Warehouse having 'a moment' some nice links there..good on your dh for the flashmob..also love the idea of you ladies all lined up in Janeees doing a Steps!

Dolce what a shame about the stall..the cookie mix idea is genius and I intend to steal it.

Well done all dukanateers..you've done so well and blossom you sound shredded to perfection.

tracey if I'd had your car hassle I would have succumbed to a bucket of chocolate..great willpower!

yangy thanks again Smile just added you as a mumsnet mate.

pickled very good scarfalike.

zembo have been thinking of you all day..wanted to get back to the computer much earlier.just want to send you kind wishes and (sneaky as not mumsnetty) hugs

ReineDeSaba · 19/11/2010 18:57

I meant to say..I tried the gap coated but actually preferred the topshop version, skinnier,so thank you fleecey for the tip.How did you find them. The gap ones seemed to have a slightly baggy cut but perhaps just my strange legs!

hellsbelles · 19/11/2010 19:20

Zembo - I have to agree that sounds like the right approach to take with your manager.

Alas you are right - so many people have been through it but I find it sad that it's often not talked about. For me it was such a huge shock first time and it helped me a lot when I started to learn that actually it does happen to many other women. It doesn't make the loss any less painful of course but it does help with understanding why. I wish people would talk about it more so there was more support.

Bloss Grin - that's me told! But I do feel very scared now of the meet up as I've been lazy about my weight (I'm sticking at slimmish and now realise everyone else is tiny!) and generally feeling a bit blah. I went for some supplies to Space NK (20% discount) - and she kept steering me towards the radiance boosters because 'we all need a little more radiance as we get older' Hmm - I felt like saying 'yes, yes I know I'm nearly 40 but I'm not that bad!'

hf128219 · 19/11/2010 19:40

Hells What goodies did you buy at Space NK? I have lots in my basket but mostly presents!

hellsbelles · 19/11/2010 20:10

I did get some pressies (Ren stuff) but have to admit a few things for myself. Mostly by-terry. I got a radiance boosting serum and some rather scary Nars lip gloss (very dark but oddly flattering!)

hf128219 · 19/11/2010 20:26

A girl has got to treat herself! I am tempted by the compact by Terry foundation.

hellsbelles · 19/11/2010 20:51

oh I didn't see that one! sounds good though. Everything I've tried of hers is (though very expensive)!

blossoming · 19/11/2010 21:03

Evening everyone!
I'm sitting down with a glass if champagne, belated birthday present from my brother. I have finished all ny washbags and all my aprons. I want to make fabric storage 'buckets' with blue and white and purple and white fabric I have left. I decided I was procrastinating so sat down and finished. Photos up on Monday...

Because I'm going to Chester tomorrow!! Can't wait. RL shops, pizza for lunch with wine, oh and an inlaw visit on the way home. Then out to my gig in the janice. I wonder if Zara will have the gorgeous shoeboots. Only a 9!! left online.

May well pop in to Spacenk too!

zembo- so sorry to hear your sad news :(
It must be really hard to have to wait until Monday for the scan but often I think you just know in your heart. Is there any way your DH (being medical) could pull some strings and get you in for a scan earlier over the weekend.
I had a MC some years back and was really anxious during the pregnancy.
By the way, I'm a GP and would have been v sympathetic- perhaos it's easier being female and having had one myself..

On a more avid note, LTEC- I love that swallow blouse but don't think I could justify any more spending at the moment. Even my DD is asking me why I keep buying clothes! Blush
Can I ask someone wohat the Dukan dieting you are all talking bout is? (I don't diet but am interested as lots of you seem to be on it)

Notyummy- thanks for the info on the Anami &Janine dress. The sizing does sound v odd. I'm an 8 on top (a bit bigger on the bottom) so would seem odd to order a large! Is the material quite thick and more suitable for Winter or could it work in hotter weather too?

That sounds great bloss, a lovely day. Have been thinking about your giving up sugar. How long do you think it took you to go through "withdrawal"?

FritziGreenEyes · 19/11/2010 21:14

bloss You really deserve champagne after all this work! I'm so curious to see all your lovely bags and aprons. Have a great day in Chester tomorrow.

ollie We used to live in Wapping and sometimes after work (I never had to finish late as was freelance) I used to walk through Butler's Wharf area. Also had friends who lived opposite on other side of Tower Bridge. Was a long time ago though... When did you move to the Netherlands?

zembo Please take some time off work if you can and look after yourself! I just realize how easy I had during my pregnancy with DD.

loobylu3 · 19/11/2010 21:15

bunny- forgot to say the other day that the names you have chosen are lovely! Only a few days now.
Are you a fan of the opera? I love it but sadly never get the chance to go nowadays :( I think the last time I went may have been at the Sydney Opera House years ago!
You are so lucky to have a lovely nanny to help with DD (and soon to be DDs)

hellsbelles · 19/11/2010 21:16

bloss - sounds like a lovely day ahead - enjoy!

Looby - this one...if you are interested just google dukan diet and you'll find tons of info (plus anything you aren't clear on you have a bunch of experts here Grin)
