I watched that too notyummy - amazing TV - I cried and cried at the end!

sorry hells overlooked your post!

no have not bought the See by Chloe red dress as I don't think I want a sweater dress for purposes that will justify its cost, iyswim. Have opted for Gap merino but still love the styling of the m-w pic so will try to do less ££ copy with camel & red.

Bless you re Jamie's 30min meals. Told dh, he was chuffed! We've just been perusing the book - and dh's pic in the back. Verdict - wonky eyes. Understandable in his line of work though Grin
Thought of you today as saw ringer for your dh (from my limited knowledge). Was only taking his missus into Jigsaw though, so knew it couldn't be you guys!!!

CHOOGIRL · 20/10/2010 21:51

Love the title OWW

Tins of Salmon to those of you affected by the CSR today. Of course I feel personally responsible being a greedy Investment Banker Smile Ho Hum still he's implemented a permanent bank levy so we pay our way. (Has he forgotten the £bns in corporation tax the banks have given over the years - still I digress?)

If it makes you feel any better, sometimes a forced change is what it takes to spur you onto bigger and better things.

Back to S&B - glad you have discovered Phase8. I used to be a bit sniffy about them but saw a friend in this dress and it looked fabulous.

Congratulations LTEC on on L's walking. Don't stress about the eating - I eat much later than dd during the week, but try to have breakfast/lunch at weekend.

I'm on a mission to try and find the Sam Edleman Shoeboots as modelled by LTEC at the meet up. They only had 39 left when I looked and now they are all gone.

Right - off to catch up on the thread.

traceybath · 20/10/2010 21:53

Anyone watching High Society Bride - very interesting.

OllieWollieWoo · 20/10/2010 21:59

I am Tracey - liking and irritated at the same time. Wasn't the Duchess stunning when she was younger?

OP posts:
CHOOGIRL · 20/10/2010 22:01

Is it worth watching on iplayer?

tracey shouldn't you be watching Grand Designs?

FritziGreenEyes · 20/10/2010 22:01

ollie Robin Hood was my first association too when I saw those boots but I'm also looking for shoeboot with a lower heel than cake's fabulous Sam Edelmans. Can't do higher than 6/7cm without wobbling ungraciously. And thanks for reminding me about code and Coast dress. Have ordered now. How could I not at 25% off? I'm surprised you are only four hours away! Next half term pack the boys in the car and come over! Once you pass the border there is no speed limit on the Autobahn, so you might be here even faster Grin.

roary I completely missed the news about your new job. Congratulations but also sorry that you cannot be entirely happy about it ATM.

hellsbelles · 20/10/2010 22:07

Cake - no it wasn't us in Jigsaw! I'm amazed you could actually read my post. I just re-read and have never seen so many typos!

urghh- can't find Roary's post! But glad to hear you've had good news (via the congratulations from everyone else!)

LetThemEatCake · 20/10/2010 22:09

choo totally inexpensive here

just get yourself a US postal address from one of these.

I tune into GD just to watch the closing gambit of that dreadful presenter. It makes me vomit and laugh, all at the same time, without fail.

LetThemEatCake · 20/10/2010 22:11

re eating, dh is just being annoying. If the kids were crap eaters, I'd see the point. But tonight they ate lentils and beans etc without so much as murmur. DS1 had 2nds!!

and I just very much enjoyed my brussels and kale .. Hmm

roary · 20/10/2010 22:15

Hi all
THanks for your job congrats - it is all very preliminary at the moment and nothing on paper, and still might not pan out. I just really don't want to leave my current job, which I love, and was very difficult to get, so it's a bit of a pickle. wouldn't mind doing it so much in a couple of years but feel like I haven't really had a chance to have a crack at it properly. Sigh. Should have married a SAHF. :) Hopefully his job won't work out and then the decision will be made for us.

Carciofi v excited you like that cardigan especially because I love all your links!

Hells the Houliilikes are here Am thinking I maybe should have sized down to a 4 but have been wearing them all day so too late!

I also got this top in the same order but from Banana Republic: cowl neck and very lovely. I got the pink.

notyummy · 20/10/2010 22:16

No protein LTEC? That is hard core!

LetThemEatCake · 20/10/2010 22:19

I only do protein a couple of times a week NY Blush

notyummy · 20/10/2010 22:25

You nutter! No protein and a carb curfew... that's prisoner of war stuff. You'll be bouncing a ball off the wall next.

(Watch your bones though - just read in article in Runners World about weight bearing exercise causing damage and early onset osteoperosis (sp?) without sufficient spread of nutrition. Huge rise in it in ladies around 40+ because of diet/exercise combos apparently. Could be worth a bone density test? I am considering.)

Lecture over.

notyummy · 20/10/2010 22:26

Oh, yes - well done Roary!

LetThemEatCake · 20/10/2010 22:43

bloody hell, how embarro - you must be thinking "she should be so much thinner than she is!"

I wrote it badly - only do protein a few times a week for dinner. But generally have earlier in the day. (eggs/ tuna/ smoked salmon)

Not today though as I stopped by Gail's and bought their am-a-zing vegan sandwich on spelt. My SW2 treat Smile

ApuskiDusky · 21/10/2010 08:28

Morning!

Sorry to hear so many of you are likely to be directly affected by the cuts, it's going to be tough I think.

EIE, shame your friend reacted like that - maybe she'll remember what you've said in the middle of the night when it's not working... And thank you for the offer of BF help, I will PM you a bit later, I have to do a manic tidy up before the cleaner comes.

Talk to me about slippers please - my house is officially cold, especially through the floorboards despite carpet, so I need slippers. What do you wear? I saw some slipper boots I liked last year in White Company, told DH I wanted them for Christmas - he didn't buy them and then they had sold out grrr. And they aren't doing the same ones this year.

hellsbelles · 21/10/2010 08:28

Everything...I bet starting your own business will be the best thing you ever did (it was for us). But do not call yourself a mumprenuer Grin. Don't worry about your friend. If she is 5 weeks pp then she will be totally hormonal and sleep deprived and irrational. I'm sure you'll be refriended soon enough.

I'm feeling very rotten today. Woke up with swollen glands and general feeling of yuck. But (and I can't quite believe this as it's never happened before) I was supposed to be at an all day meeting so my nanny is here today.

I can actually recuperate properly without running around in the cold after DD. I will of course have to work from my sick bed! But actually being able to sit still while feeling ill is is total luxury.

Roary - that top is very good too. I fear the colours (hopefully holder of the winter pallette - Bloss - will confirm) aren't right for me which is very annoying.

bunnymother · 21/10/2010 08:31

Oh everything, so sorry that your friend reacted like that to your suggestion. So hard. "Knowing" you, I imagine it was sensitively given advice, but the whole new parenting thing is an emotional minefield and we all react differently in such times of stress. Although, in my very honest, but tentatively given, opinion, you made the right suggestion - makes me want to cry thinking of a 5 week old being left crying. Probably explains why 16 month old DD is waking up for a bottle and cuddles at the moment - think I have gone too far to excessive baby-led-parenting! Blush.

Also sending sympathetic virtual hot chocolates to those of us affected by the spending cuts. Imagine that even if one isn't directly "hit", the flow on will affect us all.

bunnymother · 21/10/2010 08:33

Hells - rug up and take care!

notyummy · 21/10/2010 08:37

LTEC - Ah, now it all becomes clear!

EIE - I also love WALL-E. DD loves it too. I thing some of the cinematography is just absolutely stunning - all those panning shots of the ruined earth. And the ones of space when travel to the ship. It's amazing that what is effectively a silent film for the first half can be so emotionally engaging. Fabulous film. I have 'Up' on my Love Film list, and from what friends have said I imagine that may reduce us to tears too!

Chilly here today - but sunny. Wearing new Gap charcoal curvy trousers with clog boots and dark blue drapey top, plus new H & M blue and fuschia scarf.

hellsbelles · 21/10/2010 08:41

NY - outfit sounds great. I'm sporting Isabella Oliver maternity PJ bottoms and a gap grey top Grin

Is Roma around? Just wondering if you got the Banana Republic grey trousers that looked so promising?

notyummy · 21/10/2010 08:43

EIE - Meant to say - sorry about the de-friending thing. You know you were trying to do the right thing. These things can be so difficult over the internet, and she may be at the end of her tether. Whilst I am probably in the middle of the parenting spectrum (i. e fully bf dd for 8 month....but could never contemplate the idea of co-sleeping; I need my space!) I certainly couldn't have left a tiny baby to cry. Found it hard enough last night after DD was laying on the full guilt trip 'Don't leave me without a cuddle Mummy....I am SOOOOOOO lonely.' (This bellowed at full volume in the middle of a 4 minute 'time out' in her room for some pretty appalling behaviour.)

Hells - Hope you feel better soon.
