oh - forgot to say - on the cloud cake - I don't know if it's my oven but I always leave it in much longer than she says. A good 10 mins more sometimes!

rufus101 · 08/10/2010 14:19

I had completely forgotten Gaywear Carciofi until you reminded me! Wonder when they changed it?!
OWW I think 250g of butter is absolutely fine for a cake! I've seen and made worse! Have bookmarked that recipe and it will definitely be getting an outing in this house.
I saw someone who was very slim in pegs and thought they made her bum, when you just observed her from the back look expansive, when she most clearly was small and slim, so I think they'd definitely make my rear end look ginormous!
Will see if I can get myself to an A wear this weekend and see the leopard print blouse in RL. Will report back.
Have had to come home early, childlminder went to GP today and has to go to hospital, as she may have a clot in her lung. (selfishly hopes she doesn't, as I imagine the logistics of arranging childcare if she's off sick for an extended time)

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2010 14:25

Hells I love that look. And ltec's S by C ones, interested in the what they look like in rl too.

Today I am wearing the fluffiest, softest black cashmere top (shop in Paris), stretchy dark grey mini skirt (Italy), Wolford ribbed black tights and Vanessa Bruno suede ankle boots. Textures today.

Happily well done on radio thing (are you famous? Grin)

Roman well deserved and lovely sounding trench. Smile

OllieWollieWoo · 08/10/2010 14:28

Bloss - think its cos I mix with expats - they seem to be really pro-active in terms of organising stuff! They are time (and money as companies pay for everything from mortgage/school fees/even hobbies for the spouses!) rich! I kinda tag along! Agree re the green dress - think I put so much time and effort into finding 3 dresses for the wedding last weekend as it was the first time in ages and for the foreseeable future that I'd got dressed up!

Totally agree re buying clothes that fit your lifestyle. If I didnt keep a check on it I would have a wardrobe full of worky clothes and I don't have a job! I once brought a dress by reasoning that it was the sort of thing I could wear if I ever had to go and see the headmistress of DS1's school - even tho he was 3 at the time and now, if I was ever called to see the HM, I would not give a dot about what I was wearing and be more concerned about why I was going to see him!

DolceeBanana · 08/10/2010 14:33

Hello!

Oh bloomin' 'eck... Why is it sometimes that when you do someone a good turn, they then feel they can take advantage.... long story !
Won't bore you with the details...but ohhhh....

Esher...take care, and you will be fine...you must look after you!

Following Dukan in principle, and limbs have become slim/lean...so highly recommend, if you can stand the initial stages. Its a very long term eating plan....

DolceeBanana · 08/10/2010 14:40

Love the Rick Owens jacket H. Immaculate cut. Funnily enough was deighted to try on an old work jacket (Jaeger), very similar to this which was stored at my parents house...and find that it skims my body now and looks fab with grey skinnies and drapey fitted top, and suede shoe boots......so very wise indeed!

traceybath · 08/10/2010 14:43

Marsha you sound uber-glam today Smile

rufus101 · 08/10/2010 14:55

Well the upside of being home this afternoon?my anthropologie boots have arrived!
My heart sank when I took them out of the bag, as I thought too big, but it was a struggle to get them on and if I had gone for the US6 (which I think I am, even thought the site says US 7 is a 41/2) I'd never have got them on! The right one feels tight on the top of my foot (IYKWIM), but they are roomy in the length. Love the look of them, and perfect for clomping around. Chunky, with a heel, but comfortable.
Have a black Burberry trench Roman and love it. So well wear, as we say in Ireland.
You sound how I always want to look Marsha but never pull off!

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2010 14:59

Thanks Rufus and Tracey. This is a bid to actually wear those boots with heels I like buying, rather than flat ones. Luckily there will be some very dressed people so (thankfully) I will be outdone by someone Grin.

Romanarama · 08/10/2010 15:48

Can't find a link to my trench so I'll take a picture of it later for you. It's hard to define what's special about it - it's a trench! But it does look expensive, and it's gabardine so heavier fabric, better cut etc. All v lovely. Fabulous shopping bags at Burberry too :)

Sorry about the bad news abo - must be very stressful.

hf128219 · 08/10/2010 15:49

A few things on sale here at Matches

Romanarama · 08/10/2010 15:56

Marsha I'm dying to meet you - you are my virtual style heroine

Whelk · 08/10/2010 16:13

And mine!!

MarshaBrady · 08/10/2010 16:22

I can't meet anyone now I'd be a huge disappointment!
Grin
But thanks for nice comments! Smile

Years of shopping and keeping stuff.

DTI10 · 08/10/2010 16:39

Thanks Romanarama - a few good links on the other thread I started but not the right size.

Please can you put a photo up later?

Does it have the removable lining?

traceybath · 08/10/2010 16:41

Romana - yeay for the trench! I would love one - perhaps that could be my big buy next year Grin

blossoming · 08/10/2010 16:48

Thanks HF, I want the Sonia Rykiel beanie, and the AV basic t and the purple scarf! There goes my budget!!

LetThemEatCake · 08/10/2010 17:05

abo so sorry about your dh Sad

rufus love that Gaywear animal print blouse, report back!! I thought for that price for sure would be poly but is silk Shock

tracey glad you had a lovely night, your outfit sounded wonderful. Glad all well with ds1 at school too

OWW nice work at H&M and you do make me laugh re visiting the headmaster

roary glad you are loving the bird dress!!!

MM am so pleased you;re back and loved reading your post

right, mega quick as have been out with the kids and friends today and everyone is a bit tired and whingey (me included - coffee machine at the park cafe wasn't working!!) - but while the chicken is quietly roasting, just to say that the ASOS order arrived ...and I think I have made my usual mistake of ordering everything a size too big. Hard to say with the trousers as they are meant to be loose anyway, but they are sitting so far down on my body as to be a bit trackie-like - need to retry and compare to the pic I think

BUT, even so, the See trousers are lovely lovely lovely. The top also, although not so lovely as to warrant the price tag, iyswim. The Mango blouse is v.nice but I think might annoy me ... the shoes might represent the perfect daytime/ park heel compromise (winter's Hasbeen, as it were) and of the lace tees, the black one is nice enough for a tenner, but the white one has an odd sheen to it and is too big anyway.

right need a cup of tea pronto.

hells I would say give the S by C trousers a whirl. I might

LetThemEatCake · 08/10/2010 17:06

I might hang on to the ones I've got and order the size down so I can try them both on.

deleted my own sentence, doh

aStarInStrangeways · 08/10/2010 17:14

Didn't get to grope the A Wear blouse after all, as had to rush back and let our landlord in so he could fill in the hole in our brickwork that lets in rats Hmm [glamour]

Got home to my first ASOS parcel though, which was nice. Just some cheapy chuck-over-leggings dresses, two of which are going back but this one is staying. Just need some boots to go with it now.

I daren't open any expensive links Grin or delicious lardy ones, tbh.

rufus hope your childminder is okay! And glad to have confirmation on the peg trouser issue. I am bad for being seduced by what clothes look like on the model (hence why two of my dresses are going back).

DH and I are going to a gig next week and I'd really like a new outfit but not sure what kind of thing to go for...it's more of a laidback muso type affair than a beer-throwing mosh, so can afford to dress up a little.

traceybath · 08/10/2010 17:19

LTEC - you are so much slimmer than you realise you know Grin

Driving earlier and stuck in traffic saw cool girl wearing grey skinnies tucked into boots like these looked fab.

Think next weekend am going to go into town dressed in skinnies and try on many different types of boots.

Slightly worried I'm not cool enough for boots like that though.

OllieWollieWoo · 08/10/2010 17:24

Ooooo StarinStrangeways - great dress and even better price. What colour did you get and is it shiny at all - can't tell? Also re sizing - if I'm an average 12 in Next/M&S would I need a 12 or upsize to a 14???? Tempted by both colours!

aStarInStrangeways · 08/10/2010 17:29

OOW glad you like! :) I got the grey and it has a little sheen, but only a cottony one, if that makes any sense at all Grin Am also a 12, although currently at the top end, and it fits fine on me.

It was £16 when I bought it and I was happy to pay that, so you might as well get both Wink

OllieWollieWoo · 08/10/2010 17:51

My thoughts exactly Star! Off to get ready for parents drinks evening - wish I had the ASOS dress to wear!!!!!

FritziGreenEyes · 08/10/2010 18:11

abo sorry you got bad news...

tracey Love the boots! Go and get some!

astar Great dress and such a bargain. Like both colours although I have a lot in grey already. Could work with opaque tights and shoeboots, no?
