Morning ladies! Just noticed I messed up the links for the dresses yesterday evening. Thanks for your comments though!

roma Hope you hear from DH soon. When is he supposed to be back?

Going to wear the Belstaffs this morning. Only to appointment at dental hygienist. Have briefly thought of cancelling as I really don't want to go but 60 minutes of suffering are so worth it afterwards.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/10/2010 07:30

Didn't really like "A thousand splendid suns" either. Maybe because my mother raved about it and urged me to read it.

Romanarama · 14/10/2010 07:55

I did like 1000 Splendid Suns, though in that bit where she was boarded up in the room with nothing to give her little girl to drink I actually had to stop reading I was so upset and terrified. But then people who know about these things told me that the depiction of life and women in Afghanistan, so compelling to an ignoramus like me, is really inaccurated and folkloristic, and that Hosseini has never lived in Afghanistan or something like that. So I didn't know what to think afterwards.

I love my book club - also meeting this evening. This week is "Her Fearful Symmetry" which I'm really enjoying though have only managed about 20% of it. Don't read it bunny - it's about spooky identical twin girls. When I've finished I'll let you know whether it's a happy ending or not Grin

DH phoned, which wasn't great, as he had a 5 min coffee break, chatted to ds1, then had to go before ds2 got to the receiver, and the little mite was very forlorn Sad. Glad he's OK though - he's home tomorrow so I'm making a great big fuss about absolutely nothing really.

LetThemEatCake · 14/10/2010 08:35

Flying visit to cast my vote for the malandrino fritzi.

Glad dh is ok Roma

Sorry about Xmas politics mm. we are having the same. I remember you managed to avoid all of that last year.

Sweet pic eie

Have to disagree re post birth pics. Think they are beautiful, regardless of anything. I feel very honoured to witness, even via photo, such a precious moment in someone else's life. Beautiful.

Am going to give that MJ coat a whirl. Will report back.

Romanarama · 14/10/2010 08:46

Anyone suggest where to get boot trees online?

Romanarama · 14/10/2010 08:48

Fritzi I really like the black ruched malandrino

AllBuggiedOut · 14/10/2010 10:06

Roma Amazon

Morning everyone.

I've just spent 45 mins in the primary school hall waiting for photographer to take photos of dc1 and the birthday girl! Can I still call her a baby now she's one?
She had to sit on a table with dc1 holding on to her! I was petrified, but somehow they got this amazing photo. Very pleased.

Right, busy day, items to list: jbrands, l&l scarf and boden boots, plus birthday cake to ice, squash and red onion to roast for lunch.

Morning all,

Fritzi - I like the ruched black one best and the belted D&G one second.

Bloss -happy birthday to your DD! We still call P a baby even though she is nearly 18 months (how did that happen?!)

Roma - glad you've heard from DH - sorry DS2 didn't get a chance to talk.

Everything - can't believe how much that photo looks like you - she even has your hat Grin

I might look for a book club as I love reading & consume books at an almighty rate. I loved 1000 Splendid Suns but agree with Rufus that the kite runner was even better. Her Fearful Symmetry was a good read too but agree it's def. not one for Bunny at the moment!

Post birth pics - I also had an approved version (think it's on my profile) taken a few hours after the event. In the very first one I look completely manic with excitement and there's too much blood and flesh on show for public viewing.

cake and bunny - you were in my dream last night: we met up in a Morrisons Cafe Confused

notyummy · 14/10/2010 10:48

Yangymac - they are lovely pics! I had that black and white bf camisole - served me well Grin

LTEC - I know what you are saying about birth pics - they are beautiful in that they are welcoming a brand new life to the world. DH took some great pics of DD in the first 10/15 mins (complete with forceps marks!) and obviously we love them. I was in theatre with complications...and in the first ones taken of me and dd as soon as I came out, I just look sooooo ill. And dd is fast asleep! I prefer to look at the ones of her at that stage (squashed up and marked but healthy...rather than the ones with me in.)

Oh NY - that is beautiful!
Can't see your pics Yangy - love the sound of them though & agree that videos are amazing - I've got a few of DD having her first feed literally minutes after she was born & it still makes me cry when I watch it - she's got a little woolen hat on and a blanket over her and she just looks like a little old lady bobbing up and down. I am grunting talking incoherently to the midwife which spoils the moment a bit Blush

Aah - beautiful!
Right - must go and do housework before I get too broody Smile

Romanarama · 14/10/2010 11:30

I put on 18kg one pregnancy, 12 the next, and only 10kg the 3rd time. Have absolutely no idea why it was different Hmm.

Romanarama · 14/10/2010 11:31

Love the pic of teeny baby on huge boobs yangy Grin

Struggling to decide what to wear to meet-up but think I may have struck gold here.

Perfect notyummy!
I was aiming for 'nice' till then! I.e 'you look nice..' I may have to have a rethink now!

traceybath · 14/10/2010 12:35

Way too understated NY.

Am liking these boots thoughts?

Freezing cold here and boiler has broken so waiting for someone to come and fix it. Luckily have electric radiators in reserve.

Bea is wearing her new boots so cute Grin.,

notyummy · 14/10/2010 12:44

Tracey - those boots are so sweet! We just got these for DD.

Blossoming - I may use the occasion to debut my new maxi....but that one ISN'T my new maxi. Just in case anyone idly flicking through this thread didn't get it....

notyummy - you had forceps without pain relief?!?! WOW! I had forceps but had an epidural and spinal block as DD was stuck so they said they were prepping me for a C-section. Brilliant ob at UCH (Alastair McSomething) pulled her out w forceps at the last minute, but I still haven't seen what forceps look like (I averted my eyes. DH on the other hand was Shock Shock Shock at the sight of them). Not sorry that its C-section for me this time. Smile Oooh jewelled coloured dress from DK?

EIE - oh, you and your darling DS look just beautiful in that photo. And hasn't he turned out to be an adorable child?! BTW are Anthropology paying you well for your modelling?

Fritzi - really like the patterned Malandrino, too. Her dresses are really beautiful. Although the D&G would do in a pinch Wink

Roma - glad that DH is safe and well, although I understand about DCs wanting more time w their dad. DD is completely papa-obsessed, and was crying today when he went to work. Wouldn't mind a little appreciation my way sometimes, but then I love seeing them together (he calls her his Ferrari - his pride and joy, a real little head turner). Certainly will not be reading about freaky twins! Am already feeling overwhelmed at the thought of them, and only just coping my imagining them being chilled babies (ie opposite of firecracker DD)

yangy - you and your DDs look adorable in that photo! Although I can understand you not being thrilled about half naked shots on FB (esp if, like me, you have work colleagues as "friends"). Blush Well done on the versatility re magenta wool dress - sounds lovely! I also put on 20kg last time, took 9 months to lose, then hey presto, pregnant again. God knows what I will gain this time. Weight falling off you? Envy Envy Envy The stuff my dreams are made of.

MrsJuan - in your dream, was I eating carrot cake or chocolate cake? Just so I can imagine the scene properly... Grin Another beautiful new mother/baby photo. Your DD is far too cute, BTW.

Good Lord - is this a thesis?!
