LTEC, I bought the Fritzi jeans, very comfy and a dark grey but as Hells says, more jeggings than jeans really.

blossoming · 30/09/2010 08:16

Oh you poor thing hf. Fancy dress up there with hen nights on my things to avoid list!

I think I'm going to ask dh for those day birger and mikkelsen (sp?) boots, then wear hunters when it's pouring/snowing. I found a pair of boden chunky pull on boots that I bought a year ago when heavily pregnant. I couldn't get them on as my feet were swollen but I thought they'd be okay so I didn't send them back. I've realised that although they would do, I just don't like them. I don't really suit a chunky boot. Will list them this afternoon.
Gorgeous morning here, mist just lifting off the lake. Will go for a long walk, baby permitting!!

notyummy · 30/09/2010 08:48

HF

How about maxi dress. Then, get 2 of DHs ties and wind round each other to make woven stylee belt. Gladiator sandals. Make wimple out of some cardboard, then get gauzy scarf and pull through point of 'wimple'.

Ta da!

Plumber has just been. Upside - he reckons we can use hot water without making it worse. (And there was the fact that he was both helpful and gorgeous...) Downside - it will all cost us at least £2K. Bummer!

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2010 08:53

Oh NY what a pain! That really rankles that stuff doesn't it.

Thanks Carciofi re scarf. I agree if in doubt always go for the cashmere / wool option! I would really like one that size in a brighter colour.

I am also kicking myself for not mentioning the DVD player. Ds1 used to do that!

back in a bit tired bambino

Boots (riding and with heel) high pumps, ballet flats and ankle boots here.

Don't think I am entirely sure what a court shoe is.

What is the difference between a court and a pump? Former has block low heel?

.

blossoming · 30/09/2010 10:30

Link marsha?

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2010 10:34

Oh no soz was just musing that I couldn't pinpoint defining feature of pump v court.

I meant here as here in this house are only these shoes... So totally confusing then...

notyummy · 30/09/2010 10:34

Marsha - yes. Pumps are flat and genrally seen as slightly more casual. Courts have mid heel and are generally seen with business dress.

blossoming · 30/09/2010 10:42

Lol marsha! I think court is an English term and pump American. Here, pumps are trainers.

blossoming · 30/09/2010 10:44

notyummy, bummer re boiler. And, how creative are you?? Very impressed with your wimple suggestion.

DolceeBanana · 30/09/2010 10:54

Yeah..agree those boots def you Cake...I can't imagine you in courts really! Maybe leopard print ones ... Wink

DS cried on way to school today... ... was because he likes a dawdle of a morning and mummy likes to get there on time! Poor thing...he won 'Best behaved of the week award ' last week...oh, the pride!!!He is a little star. Anyway, lovely lady at school (School Sec), called to reassure me that he was happy and absolutely fine... all this without frantic anxious mummy call..so nice!!!)

I need day stuff too Tracey and Bloss...love the Dubarry but got the Toggi Quebec as cheaper but similar style...

Zembo - had to laugh...dh very kindly agreed to allowance, then added...'you will save some, won't you??!?' Grin

Isn't it stupid...that when you weigh the least you have weighed for ages...you still have fat days and feel you could go a bit further...slippery slope...no, I am definitely not doing it (too greedy anyway), but it's a pain!!!

I am dreaming about my friends kitchen...think we are going to have to buy a dump and renovate sadly...oh, if only a dump (nice location, mind!) would appear.... Good luck with the house on Saturday Tracey...whereabouts is the house - general vicinity...Bath? Smile

Really wish I could make 16th but ILs coming...can't wait!!!

dexter73 · 30/09/2010 11:32

Did someone call my name?!
I have an older version of these shooting boots but mine are pull-on and are now much darker brown after waxing them. They are fab for walking the dog as I can go through streams in them and they are also warm. I don't wear them out as they are a bit welly like in size.
After looking on the Musto site I am now lusting after these!!

blossoming · 30/09/2010 12:49

Thanks dexter. You'd think I wouldn't need proper waterproof boots like that. I rarely walk through fields for example. I think my Flys are just atrocious, and one of my worst buys ever.

hellsbelles · 30/09/2010 12:56

morning all,

LTEC - link please! Those boots sound amazing. I've ordered these and these as I've given up on finding a slouchy biker like my beloved Thomas Wylde pair (now languishing in the hope that there is a miracle cobbler who can revive them).

Hoping one will fit the biker boot hole in my wardrobe.

EIE - so happy to hear things are feeling brighter. That is great news.

Better go do some catching up.

hf128219 · 30/09/2010 13:08

EIE Agree with Hells that it is good things are looking up.

NY Fabulous ideas - I am now sorted - without spending a penny! Thank you.

Musto are such a great company. Their Oilskins come with a lifetime guarantee. This year DH's set started to delaminate on the arms. He sent them back asking if they could repair them - they sent him a brand new set with no questions. Cost well over 1K. Amazing.

carciofi · 30/09/2010 13:43

I think DH is a bit disappointed that I found my Visa card. :)

Bloss, I used to wear Fryes in the winter in New York and they kept my tootsies dry. The Day Birger boots look lovely.

carciofi · 30/09/2010 13:47

I got an email from My-Wardrobe to say that they will have Mulberry Alexa bags in stock this weekend.

Like the boots, Hells. Russell and Bromley have lovely studded boots (called Rockafella), I have them in black and red, very tempted to get them in brown too, maybe in the sales.

Interesting about court shoes. I wear them with jeans sort of like this for going out in. I think as long as they're fashiony it looks fine Smile I also need the height being of diminuitive stature.

Been to another friends this morning - gorgeous house - lovely kitchen - sigh. Dolcee - house is nettleton way which is our preferred location really.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2010 14:18

But that looks great TraceyB.

Are they not pumps?

Just to throw NaP's take on la pump into the mix...

traceybath · 30/09/2010 14:20

Yes to me pumps are courts in american Grin So what Bloss said really.

Have just bought new car seat as Bea at 14 months finally weighs enough to go forward facing - very exciting.

Yes I see. Pumps does sound American. (funny stiletto is out of use now really isn't it, too 80s)

Glad we have cleared that up. I like the pump and jean look btw.

I turned down some work yesterday (long story) and am Grin to be at home discussing pump v court. Grin
