What did you wear today, and how much did it cost?!

I am fascinated by other peoples clothes so I love the threads where everyone goes into detail of what they wore. I would also like everyone to tot up the cost, as I am really nosey and also I still think about that Daily Mail article that the average woman has £250 of clothes on her back.

Blue straight leg jeans-£40, River Island
white vest £4-Asos
Green tropical fruit sandals-£1-Primark
Grey Waterfall cardi-£60-Whistles

So £105, pretty good I think. This does not include accessories, as I my sunnies and bag would push me over the £250 mark.

Dd is urging me to contribute...unusually good clothes day:

Prada pencil skirt £99 from TK Maxx (full price £500) - I've had it 2 years and wear it around twice a week - great investment buy.
Matching undies from John Lewis - about £60
M&S blouse - about £25
M&S shoes - about £25
TK Maxx cardi - about £20
Total cost £230 not counting jewellery/bag(watch worth about £350, bag £25 M&S)

None of it very new.

But yesterday it was Dorothy Perkins jeans £15, Uniqlo t-shirt £5, undies about £25 from M&S and shoes about £35 TK Maxx.

Fleecy · 31/08/2010 22:47

Tan skinny belt free - mum's cast off
Underwear £15 set from Sainsburys

It was going so well until the bag Grin

Like tracey I'm all about the accessories (apart from sunglasses - I break them) and like everything most of my clothes are bought on eBay these days.

M&S tights and bra

domesticsluttery · 01/09/2010 08:59

Monsoon jeans: £22.50 (reduced from £45)
Lands End t-shirt: £4.50 (reduced from £12)
Boden boyfriend cardi: £29 (reduced from £59)
M&S bra, knickers and socks, no idea how much they cost!
Clarks shoe boots: £25 (reduced from £50)
Evans necklace: £2 (reduced from £10)
Kipling bag: £15 (reduced from £50)

I'm sure I must own some items of clothing that I paid full price for!

dinkystinky · 01/09/2010 09:10

Am at work - Oasis suit (3 years old) - £110 when bought
Topshop jumper (5 years old) - £30 when bought
Shoes - £50 (quite old too - about 3 years old)
Sports bra - £20(now that is a recent purchase)
M&S pants - £3 (also a recent purchase)
popsocks - £3

So £226 in total - but quite a few of my items are quite old (but in good condition, honest)...

Earthymama · 01/09/2010 09:20

I am on my second outfit of the day as I saw the sunshine and put on:

Blue cotton sundress FatFace 4 years old £20
teal short-sleeved Cardi FatFace £10
Red Oxygen clogs £25
Fantasie Turq bra TK Maxx £10
Ancient knickers so old now free

I came downstairs and realised it was freezing so I am now wearing:

Green Haruka linen trousers £10
Green M&S Top £10
Dark Green charity shop jumper £ 3
Socks FatFace £ 5

Everything above was reduced in some way; the trousers were faded from being in the shop window Blush
I am trying to live a more sustainable and thrifty life so I'm happy with what I'm wearing and how much I paid.
I get moments of wardrobe envy but they soon pass.

I've been wearing Merrel sandals and I am the envy of my 13 year old grandson and his friends to whom Merrels are now known as 'Nan' shoes!

sansucre · 01/09/2010 09:36

Millie1 I have that trench! In fact, the additional lining I mentioned in my previous post is the one out of that!

I'm actually in the process of getting dressed, am unsure what to wear as I can't decide if the weather is going to stay nice Confused

HalfTermHero · 01/09/2010 10:42

Pretty, but inexpensive outfit on me yesterday (am not yet dressed, today).

Sundress (New Look) -£25
Ballet pumps (supermarket)-£8
Bra (M&S) -£20
Knickers (m&S) - £5

£58 total (not including bag and jewelry).

MrsC2010 · 01/09/2010 11:42

Two outfit day today:

This morning spent playing with 3 wk old DD so:

  • Very comfy Joules dress: £35 last yr
  • Zara chunky boyfriend style cardi: £40 a few years back, invaluable
  • Hot Milk undies (BF-ing): £45
  • bare feet!

Off out for lunch with husband and DD to mourn the end of his paternity leave so have just changed into:

  • Gap dark blue skinny jeans: £45
  • Joules stripy top: £35 a year or so ago
  • Black patent Birkenstocks: £30
  • Same undies

Not hugely exciting or expensive! Not counting accessories, jewellery, watch etc.

ladymarian · 01/09/2010 12:18

This is such interesting thread!

tunic - £3.99 H&M (in sale)
leggings - £9.50 M&S
cardigan - New Look £12
Birkenstocks - £22 (bargain from Costco)
knickers - £1 (part of a bargain 5 pack from M&S outlet)
bra - £5 (M&S sale)
2 x bead bracelets - presents from my aunty

grand total of £53.49 - what a cheapskate!

I have not included my watch and rings as that would take it well over! Is that cheating?!

monkey9237 · 01/09/2010 12:33

I am so boring compared to everyone else!

Black poncho/wrap - Debenhams £20
Black ankle-grazer trousers - Warehouse £45
Green cotton vneck top - Monsoon £6 (sale)
Black camisole - M&S £3.50
Gold 'faux' snakeskin flats - Accessorize £30
M+S multipack knickers £2
M+S bra £10 (sale)

Total - £116.50

All items 2-3 years old. I would go over the £250 mark if I added my jewellery and bag, as is the case for lots of other posters too.

HLaurens · 01/09/2010 12:42

I've got my bargain outfit on today!

Odd Molly tunic £45 on eBay (£175 original price)
Esprit jeggings £13 (sale, where £28)
Hobbs boots - free (sort of) because they gave me a new pair after the zip broke on a pair I'd had for a year. Usually £170ish I think.

Unfortunately, I have spent the savings on other things...

AbsofCroissant · 01/09/2010 13:21
