Rufus I like the second ones too.

mrsjuan · 01/09/2010 09:06

I like the second boots too rufus

Hi Fleecy - was wondering where you were - sounds like you're doing great with healthy eating and exercise - very sensible.

Dukan book didn't arrive yesterday Sad but I went protein shopping anyway - gosh it's expensive!

NY -your DH must feel very honoured to be invited to break the fast at his new colleagues - hope he has a good time.

Bunny - my DD is a bit older than yours - 15 months now. She has got a fairly big vocabulary and new words are coming thick and fast now but that's only really happened in the last month or so so your DD may well surprise you soon! She's certainly not 'advanced' in the field of sleeping - aghhhh.

Who is going to the meet up?

notyummy · 01/09/2010 09:21

mrsj - you are right about the protein diet costs! DH was muttering about the 'burning bloody £20 notes diet' as he unloaded all the Tesco shopping bags (prawns, smoked salmon etc) into the fridge Grin

3lbs in 36 hours though notyummy, that's amazing. And tempting!!

Deep fog here, or is it 'seasons of mists..'?

Have just been trying on clothes as Dh back at work, baby asleep and dc1 planning his own party.
I will either wear the kettlewell wrap that I wore for the Christening, but with super high heels to take it out of 'chapel' mode, or go super classic in a black dvf wrap, probably the cap sleeve as my arms are brown and I could wear the lily & lionel zebra as a cover up to add some pizzazz (a la rufus).

I wish I went in more at the waist. Whatever weight I am I'm always going to need a half slip or my 'hourglass pants' to make me look shapely.
On that note I did some research on hols and noticed that the ones with great waists, flat tums, tended to have bigger thighs and bums but looked more womanly, and those like me with slim(ish) legs and hips and a smaller waist to hip ratio were the ones with larger tums too! A bit like a man, great!!

notyummy · 01/09/2010 09:48

Blossoming - I agree with your body analysis. I have a good waist and flat tummy (so modest...!) however 'significant' hips and thighs, which is where the weight goes on first. Through exercises I have managed to tone them, up to a point, but the only thing that would radically reduce them would be surgery (which I am not going to do.) Even when I was quite a bit smaller/lighter than I am now (which was done through various unhealthy and unsustainable means - I have learned my lesson...) I was still fundamentally the same shape - just with another inch or so shaved off the edges!! The only thing that has altered my physique to make it look more balanced has been strength training for my upper body, which has toned and emphasised my shoulders and upper back, therefore making me look slightly more hourglass rather than pear shaped IFYSWIM.

Fleecy · 01/09/2010 09:50

Ah notyummy I should have known it would be you, champion of the maxi Grin

Sainsburys do basics prawns and smoked salmon offcuts - perfect for omelettes and super cheap. Also nice warmed up with quark and herbs. All allowed I think?

Not the best prawns and salmon you'll ever taste but at £2 for 300g of prawns and about 70p for a vac pac of salmon you might not care!

mrsj I have been busy with work and posting intermittently but trying to keep up with things regardless!

vin can I just add to what others have said - Shock Your x-p seems to have really gone way over the line many, many times and I can't believe how calm, strong and together you have been. I hope you manage to sort out the mess and put things behind you soon.

Fleecy · 01/09/2010 09:54

Oh and rufus I like the second boots the best.

Big 'yay' and congratulations to the new aunties - how exciting.

My sis is pregnant (17wks today I think?) and having a c-section in Feb as she had an eye-watering 4th degree tear with her first. They told her she had a choice of vaginal delivery or section but by the way we won't be able to repair you. Not much of a choice really!

tracey how was your experience of planned sections? I am looking for good stories to reassure her!

blossoming · 01/09/2010 09:55

They say it's more healthy to be that way don't they, with a higher waist to hip ratio? Instead of carrying fat round your vital organs. I think (is it Anita) the one who does the modified exercises on the Shred has a great figure, and she's obviously pear shaped.
Anyway, as a consolation, I can always find jeans to fit!

traceyb, this was the check shirt that caught my eye from one of the catalogues that was waiting for me when I got home.

verity, are you starting your course soon? Good luck with it. I'm so envious of your stationary shopping. I used to love that aspect of new term!

notyummy · 01/09/2010 09:56

An omelette - that is what I will have tonight! Am avoiding eggs during the day today as had 2 boiled eggs yesterday and had enough of eggs in general - however the texture of omelette is v different so that will be just the thing - with smoked salmon as well perhaps...??

OP posts:
notyummy · 01/09/2010 09:58

Yes, Blossoming - Anita is def a fellow pear. I would say that I am a bit bigger all over than her, but not dissimilar waist/abs (especially now I have dropped a couple of pounds via the Dukan...)

OP posts:
traceybath · 01/09/2010 10:09

Fleecy - my planned sections were fab to be honest.

DH wasn't even at arthur's as was slightly earlier than planned and he was looking after eldest.

Both very calm, lovely team who did the surgery and I made a very quick recovery with very neat scar.

Was also driving 3 weeks after each one. Only issue was lifting afterwards really - not meant to lift much for 6 weeks but that wan't practical after having Bea as Arthur still needed to be put in cot/bath/highchair etc and that was a bit tricksy.

Bloss - like that shirt!

Notyummy - wow at 3lbs in 36 hours. I'm just doing my usual eat less thing which does generally work albeit not as quickly as dukan.

blossoming · 01/09/2010 10:11

I just looked at the Dukan site, and they reckon I could be 9st 8 in 3 weeks, with 2 days of lightning attack and 18 days of perserverance. Are you subscribed to the site, or do you have a book? (Does my dh need to know I'm doing it if it's only 2 days of attack?)

PlumSykes · 01/09/2010 10:11

Morning lovelies,

Things a lot better here, helped by sunshine and the prospect of DD starting school again tomorrow! I will miss her sweet self around the house, but am looking forward to it being just me and DS-everything is so much easier with just one to haul around the supermarket etc!

Tried on my Warehouse dress yesterday. It's lovely, though more A-line than it looks online, and very short. Think it will be for leggings rather than tights. Is cosy though!

Am back to the gym tonight after 2 months off due to bad knee. Will have to be careful, but need to sort out my chubby bits. Gym buddy is going to give me her Shred DVD too, so will give that a whirl and see if it's for me.

Taking DD to local farm for a picnic today, is not that warm, but very sunny, so glads and skinnies, plus a breton, I think.

Bunny/MrsJ It's amazing how differently little ones develop, isn't it? DS is nearly 16 months, and beyond 'Maaaaamma', said despairingly if I move more than a foot away, he has pretty much no words at all (Dadda, Up, Juice, Oops and Yoghurt being the notable exceptions). By this age, DD had beyond 50 wds. They all catch up in the end though, I guess.

rufus101 · 01/09/2010 11:06

Thanks Fritzi, I like the suede too, and the Fiorentini best. I think the colour on the site just makes them look "orange", but can't find them anywhere else that might more accurately reflect the colour.
NY 3lb in 36hrs! You are really encouraging me now to give it a go! Actually bought the oatbran yesterday in Holland and Barrett, so thanks to whoever gave that tip.

notyummy · 01/09/2010 11:11

I mamanged to get the oatbran from Asda of all places in the end - it is a v big one that I have to pass on my way home, so I managed to get oat bran and drinking cup for dd starting school all at the same time!

Was going to use Holland and Barrett if that hadn't worked - so yes, the tip was useful!

rufus101 · 01/09/2010 11:31

Bloss that shirt caught my eye too. I really like FatFace and the stuff seems to fit. Wearing a FF dress today, that always gets complements especially on the colour. It's a lovely purple blue. Agree with the shape analysis. If you have a waist(as I do) then you have to accept that s bigger bum and thighs goes along with that. Otherwise there wouldn't be the contrast in the first place IYKWIM. If you look at any skinny model/celeb, you can see that the ones with skinny legs, small hips don't have much waist definition. No matter how thin I am I am pear shaped. I'd love the small bum, so I envy you
Re the boots, the voting seems to be in favour of the 2nd ones. Are the buckles too much?

notyummy · 01/09/2010 11:40

blossoming - I haven't subcribed to the site, but bought the book as it was on special offer with The Book People (not sure if it still is.) You could probably get it reasonably cheap from Amazon?

DH may not need to know - although from memory, once you have done the 2 days of attack then you alternate days (protein only/days with carbs in the form of veg), so eventually he may cotton by the food bill if nothing else....?!

I am doing 3 days of attack, although website recommended 1 or 2....but for vanity as I want to have dropped weight by Friday (I know, I know - goes against my principles!) I will be eating and drinking normally over the weekend as staying with friends in Scotland (always feel a bit rude to demand special menu unless you have an allergy...) and then my parents are up next week, so can't go back to it then for fear of mother convincing herself that I am WASTING away. Basically, I will see if the loss from the Attack stays - if so, then I think I will leave it at that. If not, then I will go back to a day of attack and then perserverance in about 10 days.

God, I am becoming a diet bore. Will shut up now.....

blossoming · 01/09/2010 12:41

My mum is next door notyummy, and has already said, 'don't lose anymore weight will you'. 9lb8 by my birthday though is so tempting. I may buy the book though. Just to see..

bunnymother · 01/09/2010 13:16

Rufus - I like the 2nd boots best. And saw these and think lovely although a bit more $$$ (DH's special keyboard has "lost" the GBP symbol!)

MrsJuan - oh how exciting that your DD started talking in the last month - hope mine does soon! She talks all day but I have no idea what she is saying. I just pretend I do and talk back. She is probably thinking "Hmm not a v smart mummy - she makes no sense" Grin

Zembo - def getting head around twins, but am getting so big, tired and uncomfy that am sad my zippiness is going - will be asking nanny to start asap (end Sept). Tracey - she will be fulltime and then some!! Grin

AuntyFleecy - congratulations!! My friends who had C-sections all raved. Not the case w all natural deliveries (1 poor friend has had to have re-constructive surgery and suffered PTSD - not good). I am keen to avoid further damage to my bits so am pleased will have C-section.

Bloss - I am an apple - get quite barrel torso-ed if not careful. Your outfit sounds v glam!

Plum - really like that Warehouse dress - bet you look great!! Oh dear not looking forward to wails of "Mummmeee". Although at present we have screams if things don't go her way. Grant me patience...

rufus101 · 01/09/2010 15:26

Oh BM get thee away evil temptress! Very£££, but I have been known to spend £££ on boots. I have a weakness. Am only going to buy one pair this winter and have zillions of shoes. ( See I am already talking myself into spending £££!)

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 01/09/2010 17:26

bollocks just wrote a long post then pressed the wrong button and poof into internet ether. Gah.

rufus like the first and second pair best but second edge it just.

GAP are having a 30% sale starting on the 9th Sept, (I want these!)

Also I had an emcs which was fantastic and am having a planned section this time. 8 weeks today. Shock

OllieWollieWoo · 01/09/2010 18:14

Running in before dinner - saw someone try this coat on in H&M today - in both the cream and the black - looked great on Not woolley but a thick crepe type material so hung nicely. Belt cheapens it a bit imo but you could change that. Good price too. look here

blossoming · 01/09/2010 19:35

Went to my sister's today. I've seen them twice over the summer. She asked if I could take nephew after school again but she had someone in mind if not. Said better find someone else. How guilty do I feel now?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 01/09/2010 19:47

Why would you feel guilty?

traceybath · 01/09/2010 19:48

Bloss do not feel guilty. Best you're there for emergencies or because you want him to come over not as unpaid childminder - you have your own life/family/commitments.

I feel poorly tonight so going to bed soon.

But had to tell you I had to go and get a couple of dodgy moles checked out at new clinic thats opened near Bath. It was amazing - seriously like a 5star hotel with concierge, grand piano and terrace with coffees etc being served. H thought I was taking them there for lunch.

Moles fine, doctor lovely and children very well behaved thank goodness.

Right - off to read vogue in bed - there are many many lovely things in there.

So are we all happy with OWW's suggestion of the wolseley for meet-up? And what time is good for people as presume we'll need to book a table.
