Happy Bank Holiday!

Am feeling very emotional today. A friend who has been trying for a baby for 9 years has finally had success, with her 2nd attempt at IVF. Can't believe it has finally happened for them. Science really is The Best sometimes.

It's lovely and sunny here today, but can't get myself back out of A/W mode now. Went thru the White Co catalgue last night and earmarked the pieces I want. Will have to whittle list down somewhat, if I plan to feed family this month. Really want some new boots too. Saw some short and chunkies in New Look when on the Teen Shopping Trip Horror Show last weekend, but they were £80, which is TOO MUCH for New Look, no?

Rufus, ADORE yr new dress, not sure about the Chloe, think an oversized slouchy clutch might be better.

Loving the look of all teh shearling, think would look a bit cavewoman on me-boobs too big-but my God it looks warm.

traceybath · 28/08/2010 13:25

Plum - what have you earmarked? I'm liking this in navy and don't forget spg10 still getting 20% off.

Well can't go out tonight as DH really quite ill Sad. He was saying lets go but he's pale and feverish and its pretty expensive at lucknam and want both of us to be on form to really enjoy it.

So anyway he disappears into bike shed and comes back with a belated birthday present of a diamond eternity ring [yeay emoticon]

I am sooooo pleased with it - its really lovely and I keep looking at it and smiling.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2010 13:58

Plum fantastic news re your friends. Really wonderful Smile

TraceyB Wow! How lovely to keep looking at it and feeling happy. So, so lovely Smile

Ltec not sure if you have left for hols but have a wonderful time Smile

The sun is shining, nearly finished a piece of work, so lots of Smiles. Grin

traceybath · 28/08/2010 14:02

Well done Marsha - are you getting lots of work done? Are you something creative or have I imagined that?

Plum - thats so lovely re. your friends.

Henry and Arthur have decided they'd like me to have another baby - ha ha ha ha ha - well I would if we won the lottery and I could have a housekeeper but not until then.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2010 14:12

yy. 3 weeks start to finish, not bad! Just need to send off, fingers crossed it's a good one.

Haha ds1 wants another baby too. Although with some encouragement from me... ooh you'd like another baby to play with wouldn't you etc etc.

traceybath · 28/08/2010 14:15

Oh go on Marsha - have another - do you think you will?

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2010 14:20

yes I think so. I hope so, I mean!

But yes I would love to Smile. (Ha at dh deciding on this one, no but he's fine really, says I can have as many as I would like if we can afford it, which really comes down to school fees...ie if we have them, I work, we move, boring stuff like that really).

traceybath · 28/08/2010 14:38

Oh yes the school fees thing is why I am definitely going to go back to work as soon as Bea starts. But that will be a good thing anyway.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2010 14:44

yes that sounds really good. Thinking of the wardrobe expansion - I quite fancy a pencil skirt and Gucci dress anyway.
NaP have had some amazing shots of girls posing in work-like shots in great outfits. 'meeting the creative director' etc I'd like to glide around at work like that really Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 28/08/2010 15:28

Plum - that is such lovely news. Similar thing happened a few years ago with one of my best friends - 5 years and 5 IVF attempts and then pregnant with twins just as they were about to embark on surrogacy. Remember shedding tears for days everytime I thought about her being pregnant!

Bizarre weather here today - sunny one min then chucking it down the next. Had a quick run round a few shops this morning- saw nothing, brought nothing! Sums it up really!

Marsha - I will def have to get a new wardrobe if/when I get a job (plan to start looking middle of next year). Its been 5 years since I had one and I don't even know where my work stuff is anymore! I always see lovely things in the shop and think "if I had a job...."

Zembo · 28/08/2010 15:30

Plum what lovely news! 9 years is a hell of a long wait, your friends must be ecstatic!

Just checking in to wish Cakey a fabulous holiday. Hope you're all ready and set to go. Your little cupcakes must be very excited to have mummy AND daddy around for a week (or is it two?)

Well done on all the work Marsha

ABO do let us know how the party went Smile

RedBlueRed · 28/08/2010 15:53

Harrrummph! I have just had a horribly unsuccessful shopping trip.

Got all DS' school uniform including shoes but was looking for a top for me to wear tonight and everything looked awful!

I had decided to drop down to a 10 and did quite well then went on holiday and put most of it back on. Now I know I am no bigger than I was before I started dieting but I just feel fumungous. Sad

I think I'm going to stop fannying around and join slimming world or something.

Anyway, how is everyone in my favourite clique? (I'm kidding - I noticed there is another "Why is MN so Cliquey?" thread going on)Grin

I have done no AW shopping yet (too blardy fat) but have been forced to whip out the opaques.

DS is back next week and my life is going to get back into routine again so I will be keeping a closer eye on the links.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2010 17:26

hi all

thanks for nice holiday wishes - leaving tomorrow at crack of dawn.

plum that is such wonderful news about your friends. Very very happy for them.

we have also had good news about our friends and their baby, who seems to be hanging on for the moment although not all clear yet. So please continue to send them your positive thoughts.

marsha well done on a productive, creative few weeks Smile. Are you a sculptor, painter. illustrator? I imagine something of that nature. Visually creative rather than, say, musically, am I close?? Grin

bunny all of my babies have been very clingy even when I haven't been pregnant. I like to think that that continual closeness is what gives them the confidence and security to 'be themselves' when they start letting go.

welcome back MrsJ and VB, hello Cain!

went out last night with a journo friend from back home who is here for a week on a press junket. Wore this Chloe dress with black rats (anyone else still wearing them? Grin) and high patent ankle boots and fitted leather biker. Had a great night but unfort was v.hungover for visit to MiL today ..uuuuuggggggggh.

Actually, not sure whether this mad eit more or less bearable Grin

Funny you mention H&M as I saw and tried on loads of good stuff in there the other day. Did not buy, however, apart from navy blue tee

Zembo I thought of you and got my pre-hol thread for £5.

have a lovely week or so everyone. Take good care.

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2010 17:26

tracey sorry about your cancelled evening but how lovely about your ring. Three cheers MrBath and get well soon.

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2010 17:27

oh yes last post promise - well done on all the party prep ABO sound like it was going to be a great day. Lucky ds. Hope all went well

traceybath · 28/08/2010 18:03

LTEC - have a lovely lovely holiday.

Cain - shops pretty dire at the moment i think - give it a few more weeks and those holiday pounds will have gone too.

Just read thread saying we've 'taken over' the S&B section with this thread - actually made me feel a bit sad - I really hope thats not how it seems.

RedBlueRed · 28/08/2010 18:14

LTEC have a lovely long awaited holiday.

Tracey, its not at all taken over S&B, look at all the other threads in the topic, there are always new ones so that complaint is a misrepresentation.

traceybath · 28/08/2010 18:16

Well thats what I think Cain and I post on other stuff in S&B all the time.

Just irritated me I guess.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/08/2010 18:42

tracey- What a lovely surprise from your DH!

Have a wonderful holdiday cake-family!

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2010 18:45

Thanks chicas!

Where is the comment tracey?

hellsbelles · 28/08/2010 18:57

lovely updates to catch up with.

Tracey thrilled for you getting your ring. Are you looking at your hand the whole time and smiling? I hope so.

Plum happy baby news and Cake - here's hoping the drs got it wrong in the first place

Have a wonderful (much deserved) holiday cake.

I forgot to mention that in the interests of A&W I tried most of the military coats from Burberry and Burberry Prorsum. And I looked rather daft in all of them (one green number was rather impressive but I kept feeling the need to talk in a pinched posh accent as if I was in a WW2 film). I also tried 'the' peacoat (I think I got the right one) from Burberry Prorsum and looked very very dumpy. Never mind.

traceybath · 28/08/2010 19:18

Lol at Hells and her clipped british accent Grin

Its in chat LTEC and is about cliques.

hellsbelles · 28/08/2010 19:19

Tracey - I've just inspected the clique thread and can see that everyone has defended A&W so all is good!

Zembo · 28/08/2010 20:38

Ooohhh Tracey what a lovely surprise! It more than makes up for not having anything to open on the actual day of your birthday doesn't it. Hope your DH is better soon.

roary · 28/08/2010 21:26

Hello all
I'm back from Canada, which was bliss - lots of grandparents doing the childcare, my friends appearing to visit from all over the country. Indeed such bliss I forgot sometimes why I live here now - probably after my shopping trip to Anthropologie followed by my trip to the local playground with the FREE play facilitator who painted DD's face before organizing games with the big kids. There every day, all summer long. They're dotted all over the city and most of them have splash parks and wading pools. It is in the playground of the local (ALSO FREE) school - there are essentially no private schools where I'm from. ANd sunshine.Sigh. I do however have lots of mosquito bites between my toes, so there are downsides. And it is -30 for a couple of weeks every winter.

Speaking of anthropologie, I got some lovely things, but boy, did I feel beyond enormous. I tried on this skirt in a UK 16 and it didn't fit!! (I am normally a 10). IT was lovely though.

I did get these which are the best - love 'em. In a 28, which is still slightly on the large side, so square that with your size 16.

What's news? Any speed updates before I go catch up on the whole thread?
