Bunny - although am not feeling the love for that mint velvet dress particularly I sooo remember the fact that when I was PG I was forever falling on love with clothes I couldn't have/wear!

Dolcee - glad your dd has got some medecine and hope it clears up soon.

Plum - that whistles furry coat is fab - I like it in the jacket version too, wonder how much that is........

Cake - glad the passport got sorted Smile BTW I saw your blog Grin. I feel honoured.

Had ASOS delivery earlier today, most of which is going back. I ordered these paint splattered current/Elliott bof jeans, you know I have been hankering after some for months but no way am I paying £245 Shock. Am even questioning my own sanity in paying £75 for a pair of paint spattered cut-offs, (haven't shown DH yet obv.) Fit-wise they are a bit Hmm, in that they are pretty lowrise/low slung even when I size down. I'm not sure. I think they need a fitted top half to work but what shoes? I know they are always styled with heels but I'm not a fan of that look particularly and I don't wear heels in day anyway and I def see them a daytime purchase.
What do you think? They look ok with flat sandals/glads but do you think they'd work with ASH hi-tops come Autumn? And what coat/jacket?
Honest opinions please.

traceybath · 19/08/2010 21:01

Esher - I'm not sure about those jeans - they're a bit dexy's midnight runners - but you are a lot cooler than me so could pull them off I think.

However - definitely think they're a flip flop, skinny vest top type purchase and not sure how you'd do that for winter.

But I've lost my fashion mojo - just been perusing online and its all a bit meh really.

Keep seeing these midi camel skirts in magazines but just don't see how that look would translate for me. Suspect I'd just look like a middle-aged receptionist in it.

LetThemEatCake · 19/08/2010 21:17

Just on our way to fifteen for dinner.

bunny tracey and plum thank you

dolce thank you, hope dd much better
esher I don't know how on earth I missed your post. I'm so sorry, and thank you for understanding. I found my wedding pics hard to look at for a long time too (announced pregnancy in speeches, was 13 weeks)

FritziGreenEyes · 19/08/2010 21:19

tracey I imagine you to look anything but a middle-aged receptionist Smile. When seasons are about to change I always feel it takes a while until I have found a few looks for the new season that work for me.

Went to H&M today and got two pairs of skinny jeans. So typical that I discover skinnies for myself now that bootcuts are back. Have always been a bit slow to pick up certain fashion trends... Also got some basics for DD at H&M. Don't worry bunnymother I didn't bother with Zara for DD today as they were reorganising all the shelves/racks for the new season. Got a lovely soft dark grey cardi with some sparkling details for myself instead. Oh, and I think I saw that navy coat cakey. The one I tried on had all the buttons on but the sleeves were too short on me. Love your list for A/W!

Dolcee - Hope DD will be better soon!

Enjoy your quiet evening fel1x.

Tins of salmon to all of you who had to cope with the loss of a baby....

OllieWollieWoo · 19/08/2010 21:30

Have been sat here watching Masterchef - quite good this year and Christine Hamilton is really making me smile!

Meant to add yesterday re party - we got the guests to hide their presents all over the house and it wasted a lot of time caused much merriment when DS1 tried to find them egged on by his mates! Not that I'll be doing a house party again but worth considering if any of you do!

LTEC - so sorry to read about your friend. Very sad.

Bunnymother - I almost linked to the MV dress yesterday - not my colours but think it could looked fab on someone. When I was heavily preggers with DS2, I brought some lovely trousers that were my target post baby item. Hung them on the outside of the wardrobe as an incentive!

Fritzi - DH has a local meeting first thing tomorrow so I may get to do an early morning post!!!

Sure there was some other stuff I was going to post about but mind has gone blank! Oh yes, had my first 'task' as Class Mum today - organising the head lice check rota for the whole year (insert gross smiley!) - mums are asked to volunteer every 4 weeks to check heads! My stomach turns just thinking about it but am leading my example and have signed up for next weeks check! Just hope I dont any!

eshermummy · 19/08/2010 21:46

Tracey - I have been thinking about the calf length skirt thing and much as I love the idea of a full calf length skirt with knee boots, like you, I fear the reality would be frumpy rather than the Dr Zchivago (sp?) look I have in my mind's eye.
I do have a very old Zara black wool skirt that is very full and just above the knee. (It is actually too big for me now, it used to sit on the hips but now I have to wear it on my real waist belted with a wide belt - it has belt loops.) Anyway, I keep thinking that if I could find that shape skirt then that could work - i was thinking like a 50's shape fitted on the waist, with full skirt, length just below knee rather than calf length. The fabric would have to be just right too though, ideally a fine wool suiting type material.

Kind of like those Russian/folksy type skirts but without the embellishment.

I think you are right about the paint spattered jeans Sad. DH just came home, saw them on our bed upstairs and has been smirking/quipping about them since he got in

Happy birthday for tomorrow.

Cake - have a lovely dinner Smile

monkeysmama · 20/08/2010 00:16

Happy Birthday Tracey. Hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend and get spoilt rotten. X (are kisses allowed on MN?? Blush

LetThemEatCake · 20/08/2010 01:17

Gosh tracey~ it all happens in space of a month on your family, doesn't it?

Although am I right in thinking dh is April and ds2 december?

Have a wonderful, happy day and very best wishes for the year ahead

Zembo · 20/08/2010 05:50

A very happy birthday Tracey Snap, my birthday and wedding anniversary are within 2 days of each other Smile

cake hope you enjoyed ur meal out. Have prayed a lot for your friend (and all other lost babies). Love your A/W list, esp the lace bits. I know, this is not what you mean, but I like the diesel coloured Brora cashmere lace tights Not getting any at full price though, they go down to about £29 in the sales (well cheap!)

Esher not really keen on those jeans, sure you could pull them off though.

Zembo · 20/08/2010 06:01

Not style & beauty, but anyone got these squashblox sets? Thinking of getting for my DS for Eid. I think he (they) would love them, but yet another big space occupying item Grin

Zembo · 20/08/2010 06:16

An alternative is a hobby horse

Zembo · 20/08/2010 06:20

Sorry for multiple posts, but what do you think of the cassis scarf? I got a blue star one last season and love it. Right signing off for a bit now Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 20/08/2010 06:21

Happy birthday tracey. Have a lovely day!

Hope you had a great night out cakey. What did you wear? I always wanted to go to Fifteen. Used to watch the series on TV.

Zembo - DD has something similar to Squashblox. Kept her busy for hours. Will be a wise investment I think Wink.

OllieWollieWoo · 20/08/2010 07:17

Morning Fritzi - just bundled DS1 off to school with DH! Its been a bit of a shock this week to have to get the boys out of bed, changed, breakfasted and to school flying solo - DH's new job means he is out of the house around 6.30am. I know lots of Mums have to do it on their own and am determined not to whine about it esp as DH is loving his new job but I've missed not having him around to help chivvy the boys along or give them breakfast whilst I jump in the shower!

Happy Birthday Tracey - its a lovely sunny morning here so hope it is where you are too so you can get out and enjoy your day.

Got a Mum from school over for coffee this morning so off to make some shortbread biscuits and tidy up!

FritziGreenEyes · 20/08/2010 07:37

Morning Ollie! It must be hard not to have your DH around especially now that school has started. Enjoy your morning and don't worry too much about tidying up. We always have the best coffee mornings at someone's house whose kitchen is fabulously cluttered and cosy. Couldn't live with too much clutter myself but love being at their house.

DolceeBanana · 20/08/2010 08:21

Happy Birthday Tracey! Have a lovely day...

Baby much better thanks after 3 doses of medicine...so hopefully back to her usual monkey self asap!!

And hopefully we can still do wedding tomorrow! My Mother phones hourly (no kidding) to see how she is Hmm. Fingers crossed...My birthday on Sunday and no idea what DH planning (if anything,...nothing I expect!!!)...Seriously, he has deaf ears where suggestions are helpfully made by moi. He'll ask me, then studiously ignore the suggestion and buy something in similar value but something he has chosen...okay, that's fine, but damn infuriating when you reeeeeallly want need something!!! Oh, I'm sounding spoilt, sorry!!! Men are from Mars aren't they?

Then it's his birthday next week and we have a lull on celebrations until baby's first birthday in October...phew...v v expensive time in this household...

Right, it's definitely autumnal here...Cake, we need to talk lightweight coats I feel!

And no, won't be doing the mid calf skirt length either...

DolceeBanana · 20/08/2010 08:29

Zembo- love the Brora lace tights and scarf...I really want those tights too...beautiful!

I am quite taken with the Squashblox sets...really clever and fun...can imagine hours of fun with it...the Hobby Horse is a classic but may get used a few times and discarded, whereas certainly in our house, any 'doing/making' things are continuously in use.

traceybath · 20/08/2010 09:45

Thank you for birthday wishes! Had a lie-in as DH working from home today which was rather lovely and unexpected as he came back rather drunk last night Hmm

I'm off into town shortly to do some errands and have a quick look round by myself - yeay! Also off to cheltenham tomorrow to meet sil for shopping/lunch - haven't been shopping there in years.

Zembo - love tights and scarf but I do love Brora but like you in the sales Grin.

LTEC - you have got such a good memory! But yes july/august are full on with birthdays etc in this house. Arthur keeps wandering round saying 'my birthday christmas' in case we forget perhaps Smile

OWW - you'll soon get into a routine. I generally find it easier when DH is not around in the mornings as he gets in the way of my strict schedule Blush

Hells and Choo - where are you and are you both ok for the meet-up - it is the 16th isn't it?

Esher - I hate it when my DH laughs at my purchases - his bugbear is cropped trousers of any kind and dresses over trousers. So I've never really done that look as he just spends the whole time going Hmm

LTEC - hope you had a lovely time last night!
Dolcee - glad baby is better and your mother is being v annoying. Are you wearing the LK Bennett dress tomorrow - am sure you will look utterly gorgeous. And glad DD had a lovely birthday too.

Right better get on and get ready!

MM - is it your holiday soon?

Oh and its grey and rainy here.

traceybath · 20/08/2010 09:46

Keep monday morning free - its an outnet pop-up sale.

Thats how I got my MJ dress for £40 last time although the site will be very slow undoubtedly.

vinovino · 20/08/2010 10:34

tracey how about this as an alternative to kate barbour?

dolcee glad DD took all her medicine! sweet, hope she gets better soon

just a flying visit, again meant to be working, have resisted shoes this far.. sigh...

LTEC as Esher says it's only natural that you will feel really sad about Star at the moment, I for example (not quite the same) can't bear to watch those great ormond street ads or hear about other children who are ill because for me it brings up all the feelings about DD. Whatever you do or say for your friend she is very lucky to have you and you are smart enough to know what to say when the time comes. It's just so unfair Sad this may be a silly suggestion but if there is a particular poem or quote that really stood out and helped you at the time, perhaps you could put that into a card for her.

I have the most horrendous cankles and am not very tall at all so I will definitely be avoiding any calf length skirts! on me they would be hideous!

FritziGreenEyes · 20/08/2010 12:33

cakey - I totally forgot that the hummingbird dress had its premiere yesterday Smile

What is a flash sale tracey?

bunnymother · 20/08/2010 13:24

Vin, Esher and Cakey - have felt v saddened by the stories of your lost little ones, but then impressed by your bravery to carry on and have more precious little DCs who you all obv adore. Am really admiring mothers around about now (hormonal spike?).

Vin - am going to go against the grain and advise against the low heels. I think it does tip them into nanna-ville. A friend tried them on in RL, and didn't set anyone's heart beating faster. Now, in the higher heel... Shame to let the Anglo dress down me thinks.

OWW - damn, DH really likes the Mint Velvet dress, too, and he is a tough crowd. If only I knew that their dresses fitted, it could be an incentive to shed the pork you can be sure I am gaining.

Back to Zara - anyone like the boots they are stocking? I thought they had some v nice classic flat brown boots in both ankle and knee length. Shame the old footsies are also expanding. The horror, the horror.

I know! If I get the Australian baby bonus (missed out w DD as failed income test) for the twinnies, then I will treat myself to something many things lovely in the sales. Now that's a deal I like to make!

bunnymother · 20/08/2010 13:27

Tracey - posted on FB, but wouldn't be an A&W lady if didn't shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY on MN to you, too! Enjoy your shopping!

OWW - I might have a little routine w DD that I get v stressed if anyone messes w. We fell into it naturally and I quite like it. This one time, DH was home for the day and tried to make us late for playgroup (by 5 mins, but still...) by wanting a take away coffee. I had a blood pressure surge, am sure. You will also fall into a nice routine that works for you all.

Fel1x · 20/08/2010 13:28

Just popping in very quickly to say Happy Birthday to Tracey! Hope you ahve a great day

DolceeBanana · 20/08/2010 14:57

Pffffff....................................................... feeling zapped....

Anyway, having a nice cup of Assam and a Braeburn and a sit down. Dcs have been very full on as we are housebound due to a) baby b) weather c) have loads to do to get ready for tomorrow's wedding...i.e. changing bedlinen and getting rid of piles of ironing (so Mother won't tsk!),and boring dull, dullard stuff like that!

Yes am wearing the LK dress...in plum and patent nude peep toe shoes...snake clutch and v pretty long silver earrings....less is more I think and although dress simple I think it's sufficient...will do all beautifying tonight...hopefully!!!!

Hope you are having a good RL shop Tracey!
