Thanks for passport support ladies. All to do with our many name changes (4 for dh, 3 for me) plus we don't have the same surname and our dc are double-barelled,.. Hey ho. Got stat dec from solicitor today and rebook appt for tomorrow so should be ok, everything crossed.

I like the shape of these trousers but can't help wondering whether you'd have to stand just so to make them work, esp me with my width.

Great work vino!!

Btw, anyone remember that embellished all saints skirt? Saw it RL last week. Oh my word. Cumberband anyone??

notyummy · 18/08/2010 14:27

Cake - Repeat after me 'I am NOT wide.'

(Well, I am a bit wider than you....but you are not wide IFYSWIM! Grin)

They look good - although I think they would look better (and more flattering) with a heel.

Lucky escape from the cummerbund....or did you still lust after it when you had seen it?

OP posts:
vinovino · 18/08/2010 14:39

LTEC I think those trousers would be fine on your 'width' Grin I am a unshredded wobbly pear shaped 10+ and they look fine on me, ish, I have similar ones from zara. Unintentional purchase but kept them anyway. I am also rather short. (sound attractive don't I!?) Am now eyeing up IO's extra long 't' s.. [naughty vin must stop shopping..]

hope you get the passport sorted!

anyone looking for a white shirt?

Oh and think I found my perfect lipstick with your steering.. MAC ruby woo is great, haven't tried russian red thanks for help!

right, back to work...

vinovino · 18/08/2010 14:41

notyummy speaks sense!

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 14:45

Vino - totally agree re: the Anglomania dresses being able to somehow magically shrink the waist. I don't know how VW does it but she is clearly a genius! Unfortunately her cotton dresses with puffy skirts (which are the ones I really love) are cut too big across the back for me, so the size that fits my bust and waist is way too big on the back. :(

LetThemEatCake · 18/08/2010 15:04

NY what was verdict on maxis yest?

bunnymother · 18/08/2010 15:05

Vin - wonderful dress!

Hf- your poor little DD - we had something similar (but not as bad) last week - you'd do anything to make your little ones better, wouldn't you? Sick child is sad.

Eie - have a great time!!

Libra - thanks for shoezone tip - DD's wellies / gumboots arrived and I love them!

If anyone has young DDs, Zara are doing gorgeous slim leg fine cords for £10 - just bought lots for DD. Got the grey and tan/camel ones in various sizes.

traceybath · 18/08/2010 15:09

Yeay - sounds like passport nearly sorted.

Bunny - will pop to zara and explore cords for Bea. Her new shoes arrived today - they are so sweet and she loves them. So funny seeing her walking around.

Viewed another house - quite nice but very low sloping ceilings upstairs so DH would have been unable to stand up.

NY - have a lovely holiday.

notyummy · 18/08/2010 15:10

Cake - I forgot Blush

Drove straight past giant ASDA (in my defence I was listening to a very erudite discussion on Radio 4 at the time...)

Will pick them up tonight - last chance, as I am going nowwhere near the store again before we go on holiday! Am hoping at least one of the two will be cheap chic and suitable for sweeping around Italian towns in the evening Grin

Have ordered this and one with birds on that was low in stock, and now not on the website anymore, so I guess sold out.

bunnymother · 18/08/2010 15:55

Baby Bea - growing up so fast!! Bet she looks adorable in her shoes.

traceybath · 18/08/2010 16:50

Bunny - they are so sweet - she cries if I try to take them off Grin

PlumSykes · 18/08/2010 18:26

Cake, this floral maxi might help beat the Passport Office blues.

tracey, I love Bea's new shoes. I wanted those for DD when she was wee, but she is Queen of The Fat Feet, and has to steer clear of a Mary-Jane. Her high instep may be good for a future in ballet, but it's bad news for shoe shopping.

Hey Marsha, hope home-working is working out for you.

Have spent no money apart from supermarket for 13 days. Am trying to prove to DH that I can be thrifty, but it is SO HARD. And miserable. DD is staying with my mum tomorrow pm, so may go and have a browse, maybe even a little try-on on Friday morning, just to scratch the itch. No spending though! Good Plum.

traceybath · 18/08/2010 18:51

Bea now in pyjamas, dressing gown and new shoes - is she sjp in the making?

Plum - I'm spending less at the moment mainly because no way am I taking all 3 shopping properly - too stressful. Also - its just in-between time isn't it?

OllieWollieWoo · 18/08/2010 20:14

Blimey - I am pooped! DS1's party was lovely but v busy! Kids seemed to enjoy themselves - loved playing pass the parcel (not a Dutch thing apparently), and the Harry & the Dinosaurs game (hid lots of plastic dinos in the garden and handed out buckets!). Also made flying saucers out of paper plates which they decorated and then launched like frisbees in the garden! Weather cleared so were able to get to the playground. DH was a star and organised penalty shootouts, tag and hide and seek! DS2 got a bee sting tho but didnt make a fuss - bless him! DH and I just had a chinese and a bottle of cava to pat ourselves on the back!

Am a bit miffed with M&S! They have a kids brochure out (with 2 discount vouchers, picked up in store) which featured a model wearing some nice blue boys shoes/leather trainers. The listing just says 'trainers from a selection' whilst others are listed with price and product number. Emailed them to ask if they would be coming into stock or if they were from the summer range. They have emailed me back to say they are not aware of the brochure and could I scan the page to them! Not impressive Customer Service at all! Not sure how to reply without sounding like my mother!

LetThemEatCake · 18/08/2010 21:01

thanks for the lovely maxi plum. I think i have to call time on maxi buying, went out with a bang with my Tibi Smile

Am not going to but any AW until after hols - Sept, okay, yes, I can just about begin to relinquish my desperate grasp on summer.

Was going to post my AW wishlist, which I've been compiling over last few weeks but have just had terrible news. Those of you who are friends with me on FB will know that not only do I set quite some store by the saying "speak of the devil" but also that I posted a pregnancy and baby loss update last night. And today some very dear friends of ours who are 33 weeks pg have been told that their baby has no chance of survival, despite all being fine up until this point. Ladies, please send them your prayers.

notyummy and eie have lovely times away

traceybath · 18/08/2010 21:03

Oh LTEC that is just so sad - your poor friends Sad

Zembo · 18/08/2010 21:11

Cakey that is unspeakably tragic Sad - your friends will be in my prayers tonight. I've been very good with my praying so far this ramadan. I'm sure you'll be wonderfully supportive to your friends.

Tracey happy anniversary! Thought of you today as I placed an order for one of these wheeylybugs for my DD's Eid present (connection being wood!). I got my DS one for his first birthday and they fight over it (and most other thing too I suppose).

OWW sounds like a wonderful party, you and your DH deserve a treat!

Happy hols to those of you going away, hope you get a bit of sunshine.

traceybath · 18/08/2010 21:14

OWW - enjoy your cava! Am always so glad when the party is over Smile

Oh and I think m&s customer service is generally a bit lacking.

Zembo - DH thought I was mad buying Bea a bug as Arthur already has one but they're both on them constantly careering round.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes - just had glass of champagne with dinner which was rather nice.

Zembo · 18/08/2010 21:30

My DH doesn't know I've ordered the Bug yet -won't be happy (our lounge is now referred to as the playroom by DD Hmm), but it is different to the one DS has - he's got the bumble bee one Smile

Also Tracey I'd like to see a photo of you (on FB) in your VWA dress (please). I wore mine to work recently, but not sure it was doing me any favours - even with the spanx. Seemed ok when I originally tried it on and I don't think I've put on any weight. Do you think it's just a bit unforgiving?

hf128219 · 18/08/2010 21:37

LTEC Oh goodness, that is just dreadful. My prayers are there too. x

VerityBrulee · 18/08/2010 22:18

Cakey that is dreadful, life is so cruel at times. Thinking of your friends.

Hf hope your dd is on the mend, you have had a lot on your plate recently, take care of yourself.

Happy anniversary Tracey I loved dd's Caties so much I put them in a frame. They are just adorable Smile

Have a lovely time to all those going on hols. We are visiting friends on friday for a week, they live by the sea and have ponies so dc very excited. The weather forecast is grim, so packing opaques and cashmere cardi just in case, and wellies and raincoats galore. Summer weather always returns in sept as soon as school starts again. Always.

bunnymother · 18/08/2010 22:20

Oh, Cakey, how truly awful for your friends. Heartbreaking.

bunnymother · 19/08/2010 08:22

Oh, Cakey, how truly awful for your friends. Heartbreaking.

Plum - DD has G width feet. So the Papillon Hebes are poss one of the few options available.

Tracey - God love Bea's attachment to her shoes. Love it!

FritziGreenEyes · 19/08/2010 08:34

cakey - That is terrible news. I can't even begin to imagine what your friends are going through.

Have a lovely holiday verity! Sea and ponies sound like a wonderful place to spend a week. And maybe the weather forecast is wrong and the opaques and cashmere can stay in the suitcase.

Hope you had a great anniversary yesterday tracey! The image of your DD in her pyjamas and new shoes just made me smile. How sweet! Any house hunting today?

Zembo - Those wheelybugs are adorable. Sadly DD is too old now but have bookmarked as future present ideas for friends' DCs. Love your fast breaking ritual. I think I have to order a VWA dress or try one on when in London to see if I will be magically transformed or not. Better pack my spanx then.

Ollie - The party for your DS sounds like a real success. Hope you had a relaxing evening with your DH afterwards. Have added paper plate frisbee to list for future birthday parties Smile. Now that your DSs are back to school I miss your early morning posts!

Probably too late now, but: Lovely holidays to the notyummy-family!

Great shopping vino. Could you get the leather jacket in another size?

everthing - The Boden descriptions also irritate me immensely but I try not to read them and focus on the relevant infos i.e. the clothes instead. Hope you have a lovely trip! DD loves train journeys.

bunny - Have decided to go on a little shopping trip despite the cast as I have the morning off and the sun is finally out again, yay! Will pop into Zara today and check out those girls' cords.

bunnymother · 19/08/2010 08:45

Oh ooooh Fritzi, before you go out, should clarify that I have only seen the cords for girls up to 3 years of age (24-36 months). Haven't looked in the girls section. We are still in Baby Zara here.
