That cord dress has waiting lists already. I wonder if i should order it any way.I am finding it very difficult to guess what size ill be in a few weeks because of continuing but slowing down diet

horridhobo · 02/08/2010 10:49

I am so irritated with Boden for not putting the reviews up yet - I rely on them for sizings etc - so thanks to everyone who has posted on here....anyone got the Empire line tunic?

kittya · 02/08/2010 14:25

Im annoyed they havent put them up too as I have afew words to say to Johnny!!!

iwilldothis · 02/08/2010 14:47

thanks, tulpe... has it arrived yet?
nomdeplume, I have the casual dress in mouse. It is more light brown than grey, imo. I like it, but am considering going for the green one instead because I have quite a bit of brown clothes and little green stuff. Just can't decide! What colour long-sleeve t-shirts would everyone else wear under them?
Yellow under mouse with brown boots??
Black under green with black boots??
Glad to hear it is slimming...just what I need. Although the size I ordered is waaaay too big and I'm gonna exchange for a smaller size

Cabatach · 02/08/2010 16:12

Iwilldothis Glad you asked about colour t shirts, as I always find this confusing! I tried with a grey one (under green dress) and it looked fine. Will then add black tights and boots.

hattymattie · 02/08/2010 16:20

Is casual cord dress too young for someone in their mid forties??? My 15 year old is also after this and told me it wouldn't suit me - I said at that price she had to wait for the sale anyway.

hattymattie · 02/08/2010 16:32

Sorry for the double posting - still getting the hang of this!

Cabatach · 02/08/2010 16:43

hattymattie It isn't too young at all! I'm 40yrs and the thought never crossed my mind! Your daughter probably said it won't suit you as she wants it instead...

hattymattie · 02/08/2010 16:47

Cabatach - that's exactly what I said to her - I fancy the green one but it's a 9 week wait!!

Cabatach · 02/08/2010 16:52

hattymattie I noticed the 9 week wait as well . It may arrive earlier - fingers crossed!

kittya · 02/08/2010 17:12

My honest opinion? Boden clothes can never be too young for you, they are practically middled aged anyway! I do wish theyd modernise themselves.

Is this casual dress the only thing worth buying then? I cant think that it will look great with my generous boobs? has anyone got it in a 14?

bodeniiiiites · 02/08/2010 18:14

i really think if they "modernised" themselves they would lose 1000s of customers rather than gaining 1000s i`d be happy if they would just get their sizing sorted and get those reviews up

polyhymnia · 02/08/2010 18:28

Just asked one of their customer services people on phone when reviews are coming and she suggested it might still be a few/ some days yet. She said there 'wouldn't be many up there anyway yet'. I referred her to Mumsnet!

purplepeony · 02/08/2010 18:33

I was given 2 tales re. reviews- both inthe same conversation. First she siad they would put them up when they had them- then I pointed out that the link was not on the site and she said it would be in a few days. I do wonder if they are going to do so, as many reviews are negative.

I don't get the "casual cord dress thing"- has it sold out because it is the only dress they do under £75?

I am tempted but I think it looks shapeless and you will always need a T under it. If the cord is not soft it will look like a proverbial sack of spuds. It's not really, errrr, sexy, is it?

Horridhobo - Re the empire line tunic, I posted about this earlier on this thread. I got it last week and promptly returned it. I'm a size 10 and it was awful on me, clung in all the wrong places and also the fabric was a bit washed out looking, the pattern was not nearly as vibrant looking as in the website picture. I could not see how you could comfortably wear this over either leggings or straightleg jeans. Also you need a bust for this top, I dont have one sadly and it just sagged on me! It was returned! I have ordered the copenhagen tunic in return and hope I will have better luck with it.

kittya · 02/08/2010 21:18

Re the casual cord dress its reminding me of the one I ordered last year, an "artists dress" it was the same shape with two big pockets on the front. It was vile, hung on me like a sack of spuds. The sizes are all over the shop. I dont think it has to become Top Shop but at least they could do some thick belts to go with all their tunics.

horridhobo · 03/08/2010 10:13

Thanks Serendipity - I have got boobs so I may give it a try. What colour did you get? Wonder why they are being so slow with reviews - they normally put them up straight away, even if there are only one or two......maybe they really are all terrible.......

kittya · 03/08/2010 11:33

judging by this thread they will be!!

OllieWollieWoo · 03/08/2010 11:49

Really annoyed re the site not having the reviews up yet! Received preview order - coat for DS1 is not nice! Got the grey and white striped one with fleecey inside - colour is not a good match to whats on the website - grey is a faded/washed out colour and the white is a dirty white - already looks like its been washed a few times iykwim. Going straight back! Also got a tunic top but v thin for the winter and for the price! The Carnaby coat in cream is nice tho - albeit a bit stiff! Will have a faff in front of the mirror with that one later!

kittya · 03/08/2010 11:59

Its boots Im after this year but, they are expensive on the site and I suspect if I could be bothered to get off the sofa I would find much nicer/fashionable ones in Bertie or somewhere. It sucks about the reviews, I noticed awhile back that they were never quick to put the negative ones on their site, they are going to have problems this year then arent they??? Its got much more expensive.

purplepeony · 03/08/2010 14:27

No reviews is driving me mad- I really would have liked to see reviews before exchanging loads for loads.
I think I'll call them and complain.

SerendipityAlways · 03/08/2010 15:06

Horridhobo - I ordered mine in the "thistle flower vine" - Its the one the model is wearing ever so effortlessly on the website!
Has anyone received the straightleg crop trousers yet??? Like everyone else here today I too wish that we could review some items - and believe it or not some of the reviews actually will be positive so come on Boden, it may be worth your while!! I'm dying to see what the crops are like, I ordered them last week so should get this week, went a size up too as reckoned they could be a bit on the small fit!

kittya · 03/08/2010 16:40

I exchanged my dud order for the boyfriend jacket, did anyone get it in purple? And, Ive thrown caution to the wind with the denim dress.

PP I rang up to complain and they guy on the phone sounded even more posher than JB on his answering machine! It put be off to be honest, I was expecting a more approachable person to answer. I did mention it and he didnt even know that there was such a thing as a place to leave your reviews!!

If they dont appear soon, I will have forgotten what I sent back.

Millie1 · 03/08/2010 22:06

Has anyone ordered the off-duty parka? www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE279/Womens-Off-Duty-Parka.html?NavGroupID=2

If so, what's it like in terms of quality and fit?

Thanks!
