Ah thanks - It all makes sense now !!??? She lied !!

NotActuallyAMum · 01/03/2006 12:38

Lots of snow on the loch ness webcam, sheep will definitely be camouflaged today Grin

I'm a bit warmer now. Only working till half 2 today, have to leave early for the football match. Got my hat, scarf and gloves ready. And yes I'll probably look a complete knob but if they stop me from freezing my t*ts off I don't care Grin

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 12:45

Have a good time Naam, don't get too cold!

ds is getting another car today, do you know of any cheap insurance companies? Been searching all over the internet today, most of the ones I have looked at want nearly £2000 for cover for him!

Also does anybody know how to go about selling his number plates that he has on his current car, the car is going to be scrapped but the number plate is quite unusual - Don't laugh but it is BENT! He may find somebody 'proud to be gay' who wants to buy it! BTW ds is most def not gay!

For insurance try \link{http://www.confused.com\confused.com} they gave DP about 23 prices from different companies when we bought his car then we just went with the cheapest, which for us was More Than

\link{http://www.private-car-number-plates.co.uk/personal_plate.htm\this} site buys number plates - no personal experience of them though so don't know if they're any good

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 13:04

Thanks Naam, I've tried confused.com, I think the cheapest was £1800!

Last year his insurance was only £800, but he had a tiny accident, they really had to look hard to see any damage on the other car and then all it was was a small scuff mark and the bumper had come off its clip. Ds appologised profusely and offered to put the bumper back on ther and then and polish out the scuff mark or pay to have it done but the git insisted on going through the insurance so it has put pay to his no claims bonus! Sad

Just tried 'morethan' but they wont insure im as he is under 21.

£1,800?? Flippin' 'eck!! They know how to rip young people off don't they?? There are some companies who specialise in younger drivers but I can't think what they are, not sure if one is called Admiral?

My eldest niece is 17 in August and my sister is saying they're going to buy her a small car. I keep trying to tell them she'll never be able to afford to insure it but I reckon they think I'm exaggerating. They'll find out soon enough

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 13:33

Shock I've just looked at Admiral for him they want £3188.85 Shock

NotActuallyAMum · 01/03/2006 13:42

ShockShock WTF?

That's disgusting. If all else fails try looking in the classified section of something like the Auto Trader, you should find something in there

Things like this make me glad I'm not really young

SiobhanW · 01/03/2006 14:08

Sometimes it's easier to go to a broker and let them do all the trawling around for you - obviously get a couple of quotes for comparison but the brokers buying power is greater than ours so you can sometimes save a bit of a) leg ( or digit) work and b)money !!

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 14:22

Phoned Norwich Union Direct, a rather grumpy man told me to phone back tomorrow because their 'systems' had gone down!

I'm not having a lot of luck. Talked to someone from liverpoolvictoria.com and they quoted 'they think' around £1500, so that is better, but its still alot of money!

I'm off now - going to get my t*ts frozen off and feel knackered tomorrow cos I've had hardly any sleep....

Can't believe I'm actually grumbling about going to a football match Shock - this is definitely a first!!

Have a nice evening all Smile

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 14:27

Wrap up warm Naam! Have a nice time.

SiobhanW · 01/03/2006 14:31

Hope the result is good Naam - I'm a rugby girl m'self !!! totally different shaped balls !!

Squirrel3 · 01/03/2006 14:34

Must admit I like watching a good game of rugby, my grandparents were welsh and they loved rugby, i guess some if it must have rubbed off!

OP posts:
SiobhanW · 01/03/2006 15:22

Been dragged to Rugby matches since I was 4 local and internationals and coming from Bath i didn't stand a chance really !!!

SiobhanW · 01/03/2006 15:40

Right then tally - ho - off to do the wages round .... giving a lift home to a friend so she'll have to ride shotgun!!!

NotActuallyAMum · 02/03/2006 08:36

Morning all Smile

How is everyone today?

Siobhan I could have really used your ugg boots last night - I was bloody freezing!!

Squirrel3 · 02/03/2006 09:20

Morning all Smile I've got such a bad hangover today - I started to drink red wine yesterday evening and didn't stop, dp thought it was hilarious, he has never seen me that drunk before! Blush

I'm usually so sensible!

How was the match Naam (apart from being cold)?

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 02/03/2006 09:32

It was a good match - specially for a friendly, they can be quite boring sometimes - and we won which of course helps!! Had a nightmare moment with dsd - there was a minutes silence before the game for Ron Greenwood (former England Manager) and she whispered to me that she wanted to take a photo but couldn't because the "click" would make a noise!! I hate it when people do this - there's often a silence before games for someone who's died and I've always said to DP that I think it's so, so disrespectful when people don't observe it. I was so wound up about it. Didn't say anything though - just "shhhhhh!" DP "didn't hear her" - he never does her when she says something I don't like. Ditto later on when she told him to shut his gob - he didn't hear that either!!

OK that's my rant for today....

Now be honest Squirrel - you were practising for tomorrow night weren't you?? Grin

NotActuallyAMum · 02/03/2006 10:12

It's a lovely sunny day on Loch Ness today - still lots of snow around though so no snow visible. Still can't believe I'm looking at that Blush

Squirrel3 · 02/03/2006 10:44

I bet you have got the lochness cam on your favourites haven't you Naam! Grin

I think I might have been tempted to have a quiet word with dsd myself, she may not realise the importance of the silence.

Yes men do have selective hearing when it comes to their daughters!
