Morning all

lol at tarantula being 'blown' home

Blimey squirrel you were up early!! Yes got laptop working again - still having to use the wireless adaptor but it's not the end of the world. Not going to fiddle with it again till we've had our 'girls night in'

Yes 'hard' hat was funny - the kids really make laugh sometimes. My youngest nephew (7) has really taken to my DP in a big way, bless him. When we go round he sits on his knee and won't leave him, then when we go he puts his arms round the top of DPs legs (can't reach any higher) and says "I don't want you to go!"

It's snowing here

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 08:46

x posts there squirrel

Can't imagine why anyone would allow a 10 year old to wear so much make-up......

When are you finishing your current job - are you having a break in between?

Squirrel3 · 23/02/2006 09:35

I was truthful with my boss about having a second interview and my reasons for not really settling in properly in the job and she acepted that its not for everybody and as I was only on a 'probationary' for three months to see if I fitted in etc it was fine, she wished me well, I will phone her soon to let her know.

I'm hoping she doesn't need me to work notice, I am only part-time, hopefully somebody else can cover and I get a bit of time off.

Don't blame you, a week off would be nice

I've been shopping this morning before work!! These 24 hour supermarkets have their uses - DP is having breakfast in bed on Saturday so I wanted to get everything bought for that, and it's pancake day on Tuesday so got everything for that too - we love pancakes

How were things with the skids last night?

tarantula · 23/02/2006 09:45

Blimey Is it Shrove Tuesday already???? Mind you eater eggs are in the shops now. Only 2 1/2 weeks to Paddy's day . Hve to get planning

tarantula · 23/02/2006 09:47

Wish I could have a week off too

Squirrel3 · 23/02/2006 09:53

Pancake day on Tuesday, you are a mine of usless dates arn't you NAAM?

Things with the stepkids were ok I do feel sorry for dsd daughter though, it must be very confusing to be made to grow up too quickly!

Her mum tried to make her buy a pair of boots last week - dsd didn't want them but BM told her "yes you are having them you will look so cute in them"! It really is like she is being treated lke a dress up doll.

Tarantula, ow do you celebrate St Patricks day then? [nosey emoticon]

OP posts:
tarantula · 23/02/2006 10:01

Well Its really difficult to organise Squirrel and very very hard for me. Basically

You DRINK ( Guinness for preference) and have good craic and rira (ree raw) and rulabula with lots of music singing and dancing. Wearing green is also essential

tarantula · 23/02/2006 10:04

At home tho they have the day off and lots of people go to Mass as its a holy day and then most towns have big parades. When we were little we gave up sweets for Lent and Paddy's day was the one day you could eat them.
Also everyone wears Shamrock.

Squirrel3 · 23/02/2006 10:07

Sounds like fun! but what if you don't like Guinness? Or if you don't suit green? I mean I would love to join in but I'd look like this

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:07

Yes I'm full of useless info me

It is a shame for your dsd squirrel, we're grown-up for long enough (well, most of us ) so kids should be allowed to be kids IMO

I saw easter eggs in tesco earlier, more flippin' expense!! I used to buy one egg a week leading up to easter but they erm, kind of, got eaten

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:08

lol at that picture

I have never, ever tried Guinness....

workingmumnhs · 23/02/2006 10:10

it never snows here. is cold enough but never snows.

Last time i went out for St Patricks Day I had DD nine months later.

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:14

PMSL workingmum

Snow has turned to rain here now so it's all gone

workingmumnhs · 23/02/2006 10:18

don't know whether being a peninsula stop the snow. just get rain

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:22

Aren't you in Scotland workingmum? Thought they had lots of snow up there

workingmumnhs · 23/02/2006 10:24

no not scotland
merseyside opposite liverpool

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:30

I'm supposed to be going to Liverpool next Wednesday for the England friendly but I don't want to go, think I'm going to be ill

workingmumnhs · 23/02/2006 10:32

you should you'll enjoy yourself, very friendly people. know nothing about football tho you goihg to one of the stadium or the pubs

Squirrel3 · 23/02/2006 10:41

You will never guess what has just happened!

I have just taken another phone call from another firm asking me if I would like to attend an interview!!

I spoke to the guy for 25mins, I told him I have just accepted a position elsewhere but he kept on at me telling me I was just the kind of person that the firm needed, I came across well on the phone, my CV and qualifications were excellent, I was friendly, just the 'dazzling' type of person they needed, so I landed up agreeing to go along to the interview to see what they could offer me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
workingmumnhs · 23/02/2006 10:42

your in demand now squirrek

headhunjted how does it feel

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:46

It's at Liverpool's ground. I absolutely love football but it's just going to be such a hassle - have to finish work early and won't be home till about half 1 then have to be up for work on Thursday, not good!

I'm saying all this but I'll probably end up going, DP is useless at finding his way anywhere so if I don't go they'll probably miss the match because they're lost

NotActuallyAMum · 23/02/2006 10:48

Way to go Squirrel

I would certainly go - and i'd exaggerate my new salary too

When are you going for the interview?

Squirrel3 · 23/02/2006 10:54

I don't know, I just keep laughing!

Who would have thought this would happen?

A few years ago I was a single Mum bringing up a disabled daughter and a ds, I'd never worked as there was no child care for dd (she was having home tuition through the hospital school). I have only been in the 'working world' for a couple of years. I had no qualifications until dd was able to cope with her own illnesses, and I was able to go college to study.

Oh dear I'm getting all choked up, things like this don't happen to me!!!
