We will follow last year's formula and try to pick a central location.

Id love to join you please (not a newbie, have name changed)

brdgrl · 29/09/2011 22:47

I'd certainly make it if I could. I'm quite distant though (not on the so-called mainland!), but DH has family in London so maybe it would happen to coincide with a visit... I'll keep following the plans, anyway!t

ConfessionsOfAFlask · 30/09/2011 11:18

I guess we could repeat Birmingham as it is pretty central and quite easy to get to via train/car/coach.

I will be travelling from Berkshire and will probably Stay for the night. We could book a couple of rooms as well. Last year most of us got there at lunch time; we had lunch, pub, drinks, drinks, a great chinese and I tried to finish the Gin with water Grin.

Depending on your circs, if you can only do the afternoon, that's fine too.

So, now the fun part, Dates:

How about end of Feb/ beg of March ?

I am travelling from Berkshire too! However may only be able to do the daytime bit. Sounds great, whichever!

glasscompletelybroken · 30/09/2011 14:03

Birmingham sounds good - would love to stay so can have lots of lovely wine but will have to see nearer the time. End feb or March is fine too.

babyandconfused · 30/09/2011 19:18

babyandconfused · 30/09/2011 19:18

Ah crap its me WInterLover just realised I name changed for something

isithometimeyet · 01/10/2011 21:53

(Tiny voice) would love to come but alas am too broke to travel to Brum

However if any of you are close to the South and fancy doing it all over again (or like me are too skint to travel far) please do let me know

You can be Team Apple and we'll be Team - er - Pear?

ConfessionsOfaMask · 02/10/2011 20:09

Isithometime can you pm me your location. Maybe we will be able to get you a lift if someone is driving ?

fourkids · 03/10/2011 21:41

Maybe.

It would be nice.

I'm worried about anonymity though...say I've been happily posting away, with the odd veiled moan about DSC's DM, and she me, without realising...and then we meet at the meet-up and say: 'fancy seeing you here'!!! And then spend days trawling all the posts that were ever posted on SP trying to work out who each other are, and what has been said...

Or I bump into exH in the carpark dropping off his DW (who apparently hates me even though she's never met me), and discover that some vitriolic poster whose DH has a mad, conniving, poor-parenting, money grabbing, McDonalds feeding, non-toenail cutting exW is married to my exH?

????

ladydeedy · 03/10/2011 21:45

oh i am sure it will all be ok!! Smile after a few gins!

Don't post much on here, can I still join in?

nenevomito · 04/10/2011 09:34

I'm in, but...

Last year we almost had to pay out quite a few extra £££ due to the late cancellations. As it was the hotel managed to fill the places so we weren't stung, but at one point we were going to have to pay for 4 unfilled rooms between those who did come along which would have ruined the weekend (and seriously emptied our pocket!)

I think with that in mind, if you do want to come then we decide on a hotel, but individuals then call up to book their own room. That way if they can't come for whatever reason they are responsible for cancelling their own room and any cancellation charges.

Alternatively, we could do it like the main mumsnet meetups, where folks pay a deposit to confirm they're coming. We can do it via paypal or something similar. That way if people do drop out at the last minute, the people who turn up aren't hit for the late cancellation fees on the hotel rooms. If there are no cancellation charges the deposits can be returned.

I think I'd prefer option 1, though.

Thoughts?
