For those who don't know - but perhaps them or their children were inspired by the Lionesses great win last night, the Women's Rugby World Cup kicks-off in England next month - with tickets available from as little as £10 ( a few of these are double headers - so two games on the same day for the price of one ticket)

England's Red Roses are the bookies favourites and it's a great chance to see world class sport up close and personal - https://tickets.rugbyworldcup.com/

Totally agree, it's a fantastic sport. I am still grinning from our victory over the Wallaroos on Saturday... not quite so confident we can do it again on Friday! But great RWC warm ups.

outofdate · 10/08/2025 19:27

Great win in France. Our forward power was unstoppable but I would have liked to have seen a bit more of our speedy backs.

annonymousse · 10/08/2025 19:33

We have tickets for the final already. 🙌

CMOTDibbler · 10/08/2025 19:38

@annonymousse me too!

annonymousse · 10/08/2025 19:41

@CMOTDibbler high five 🖐️ 🤣

outofdate · 14/08/2025 11:01

Me too!

PMK

very excited for the World Cup 🏉 - I’m actually supporting Japan in Pool C and hoping they can get out of their pool at least…
I’m going to see a match in York Smile

after that, it’s the Red Roses 🌹

Great game. Almost feel sorry for the USA Grin

Weepingwillows12 · 22/08/2025 21:34

That was solid from England. Was hoping for a bit more from USA as would like some tight matches. Good crowd though. Have tickets to the final so starting to look forward to that.

outofdate · 22/08/2025 22:05

Brilliant start by England but still things to work on before we meet better opposition.

CarpetKnees · 22/08/2025 22:24

Will absolutely be watching, but I hope there are lots of closer, and therefore more interesting games.
In one way, great to see England winning in any sport, in another, it isn't a very fair starting point.

I agree. Wales v Scotland should be the best and closest game at 12 (I think) today.

outofdate · 23/08/2025 17:53

Scotland blew Wales away.

Great game from Scotland - I’m feeling very cheered, in an over-emotional menopausal way, by the sight of strong, skilful women of very different shapes and sizes, combining to play as a cohesive, communicative team. No fighting, no diving, no back chat - take note, lads.

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 23/08/2025 18:17

It’s good isn’t it.
My rugby obsessed DH and DF both love it.

Women are playing great creative rugby not killing the ball like the men.

The women have been excellent spokeswomen for the game too.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 23/08/2025 18:20

I play rugby, it’s the most disciplined sport anyone could ever play. Our opening game is in a few weeks and although it’s not stadium material the feeling you get when you run out, the banter in the changing room, the family, the socials, the try scoring it’s absolutely second to none. I’m a massive Quins supporter, everyone should go and see a game it’s so much fun you can take the kids, it’s respectful, no fighting, both sides are mixed in the spectator stands, there’s no rivalry as such just a brilliant day out.

Ds13 plays rugby and his whole team watched Scotland v Wales in the clubhouse this afternoon. Glad to see boys watching women's sport and taking it every bit as seriously as they take the men's game. It's been a long time coming.

I love seeing strong, confident women playing and supporting each other, no worries about their shape or size. They're amazing. I wish I could play.

Did anyone see Skye Stout and the abuse she got when she signed for a SWPL team in Scotland last week because of her skin? Shows there's still a long way to go.

Bonjamin · 23/08/2025 18:32

DH and I went to a London Scottish game last year - London Scottish are sponsored by Tunnocks and they had two men hurling Teacakes and Wafers and Snowballs into the stands at half time. I mean, what more could you ask for?

You should see if your local team need players. We take everyone from 17+ any shape size or ability. We also have a new walking rugby team. You’d never be made to feel unwelcome at any club I assure you. Even if you just go to training it’s amazing how much of a beast can be released inside a woman if they’re told to protect a ball like their baby!

Anyone watch the Ireland - Japan match this afternoon?
It was a cracking game - Japan tried so hard (and made some unnecessary mistakes, which they tried to rectify in the second half…) but the Irish girls were on fire!

DD and I went to watch this yesterday, brilliant atmosphere in the stadium and lots of support for Japan all round which was lovely to see.

Ohh fab!
I was watching on TV over here in Japan - the atmosphere looked brilliant!

Glad you and your DD enjoyed it Smile
My DD works for the Sakura Fifteens and I’ll be over in the UK to see the York game on September 7th, and will get to see DD too! Can’t wait Grin

Talkinpeace · 25/08/2025 13:08

Italy France was good - Italy played far better than the score implied.
Lovely sunny evening too.

TheNightingalesStarling · 25/08/2025 13:11

DH and DD have tickets for the final, they are very excited (DD is U14s this year). Even more so since England have a good chance of being in the final.

Ironically, she missed watching the first game as she had rugby practice! (I believe it was on in the clubhouse after but we have a 30min drive home and my other teen was home alone so we couldn't out too late)
