The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

I’m pleased for Novak as well.

We're now doing a coffee drinking game, every time the BBC commentator mentions that an athlete has recently experienced some kind of family drama, prior to the Olympics. Or that they're 'a mum'. (Not 'a dad' so much, unless they bring it up themselves first, eg, Tom Daly, Adam Peaty, etc)

i must admit in the picture the usa's arm is in front of gb at the final, it had to be checked

Only just started watching but they have just confirmed that team GB has won bronze not silver after the photo finish

@LlynTegid how rude! The result graphic showed GB as silver actually! Don’t be so unkind!

It's interesting what photos/tech the different sports use to ascertain results. Obviously in the men's 100m they had a photo finish.
In football they have VAR
Not sure about hawkeye at Roland Garros
The British skeet medallist put up her hand to contest something that was counted as a miss (but later slow mo pic showed it wasnt) but her silver medal stayed because they don't use video slo-mo to get the results...
In race walking one foot is always meant to be on the ground but slo-mo video shows that lots aren't....but they don't use that for results/judging there either....

British Triathlon performance director Mike Cavendish: "We thought it was sliver, the display showed it was silver. The judges will look at a video still, that isn't great to go off. When it's come to the official photo finish, America were just ahead of us

"It's very rare that it goes to a photo finish. I'm still so proud they got a bronze, it's just a brilliant advert for our sport."

On whether they will appeal the result: "[No] I've seen the photo, when you zoom in, it's relatively clear."

@DuncinToffee thankyou for that, I was aware of this having done my own research on the matter over two hours after the race finished. That said I was actually referring to @LlynTegid who was really unkind about it, when watching in real time (which I did) there was no visual of a photo finish! The graphic which showed the result showed GB in silver medal position, so I switched it off and pottered about the house doing jobs. I still haven’t actually seen the photo finish but I have read that spiel about an hour or so ago…
