DH worked at McLaren at the time and was part of the team that helped them integrate the gearbox.
He had a meeting with RD after Australia that went 'what the fuck did you tell them?'. There were things about the gearbox Brawn never knew!

@Needanadultgapyear that’s so interesting. I can imagine RD was pissed off Brawn won with the Merc engine.

I really don't think Ben Sulayem has been good for the sport at all. Actually, I think he has actively damaged it.

For those wanting some F1 Christmas inspiration, Lego have just added a lot of F1 sets around £23. They also added the Williams FW14B including a mini Nigel Mansell! £70 though. I might drop some hints to DH!

DS has just messaged me to say RBR have taken the wrong rear wing for Vegas and are unlikely to get the right one shipped in time!
Don't know his source, but he is a huge RBR and Max fan, so it's likely to be correct

That’s interesting as SkyF1 are reporting RB (not confirmed) have asked the FIA to bring forward a technical directive change. Apparently the FIA expect for this weekend, and the next two races, teams to alter their skid blocks, not the skid plank. The blocks are titanium, they create the sparks, and protect the plank from excessive wear. Two days to get the parts manufactured and on the cars before the race (possibly qually) is very harsh.

Being cynical this would also affect RB, but if they pushed for the change then it would be reasonable to assume they had the parts ready to go,

It's to do with arse protection.

Fred has allowed Carlos to do the end of year test with Williams but Toto is holding Lewis to his contract. Fred seems really sanguine about it, understanding Lewis is doing a farewell tour.

General Motors, without Andretti, seem to be advancing with their bid to be the 11th team on the grid in 2026.

I’ve just had a 24 hour bug thought I was going down with the flu felt so bad and then miraculously all symptoms disappeared within 24 hours!

I'm surprised I woke up in time, but glad I did. Russell, Sainz and Gasly top 3 is great. Norris behind Verstappen isn't great for keeping the championship alive though.

That Colapinto crash though, poor Williams 😥

I am really bemused by Hamilton, did he just have two crap laps? I know he is not going to have pole but he should have been further up.

I do wonder with Williams how close to the cost cap they will be. The £££ must impact development for 2025.

Ferrari are absolute morons at times. Lewis is not going to stand for these errors when he's there. The radio comms will be interesting if they're still as messy next year.

I agree, Sainz is one of the more strategic drivers.
