Lewis is going to drive Senna’s 1990 McLaren on Saturday after the sprint race. That’s going to be emotional as it’s 30 years since he died.

I wonder if he is still talking to the FIA about his bio-fuel ideas, maybe that's why he is in Brazil this weekend.
This is a done deal the whole 2026 engine change is to use a sustainable fuel made from no food bioderived with municipal waste or sustainable carbon capture. I have spent the last 2 years listening to talk about it! This is the biggest part of the program to make F1 carbon neutral by 2030.

Brazilianadventure · 01/11/2024 19:41

Well done Oscar and Lando. Good front row for the sprint.

Ollie has done well as has Liam.

Lewis is really struggling with Qually.

According to Twix Seb ran a field trip for most of the drivers😂. He led them all to see the huge Senna helmet made out of rubbish. They all fitted inside where there was a display about the people who make a living collecting and sorting rubbish. I have to admire his drive to make a difference.

I watched the drivers press conference but didn’t hear Le Clerc swearing, anyone know what he said?

I did laugh at Lando saying in an interview with a journalist he’s bored with answering the same type of question - thought to myself so am I 😂

He was talking about oversteer both sides and it seems he said l was like fuck(ed)” but they beeped out the swear word. He did realise and apologise and said oh no I don’t want be referred to the stewards like Max.

In a different interview Max quite rightly pointed out the different treatment by the stewards. Then the stewards started to investigate.

I never thought Max should have been referred and sanctioned but as he was its only right Charles is referred too. Consistent application of the rules is important, whether or not you agree with them.

Charles has been fined €10k for swearing. It’s absolutely ridiculous.m

Imagine if a footballer swore in a live interview though; there would be a national outcry.

It's fair enough for the governing body to hold responsibility for maintaining the image of the sport.

Seeing stuff on Instagram that Colapinto has been signed to Red Bull for next year. Bit of confusion over whether the journalist who leaked it means RBR, as in the group (including Racing Bulls/Visa or whatever name you prefer) or Red Bull itself.

If they put him directly into Perez' seat for next year that won't go down well with Tsunoda or Lawson. Colapinto must have some big sponsorship backing him if it's Red Bull. The team will be looking to plug the money hole that dropping Perez will leave them with.

Brazilianadventure · 02/11/2024 11:20

@YouAreAllMySymmetry In both cases, particularly Max’s, the swear word was used as a descriptor rather than an expletive laden tirade. Lewis uses friggin or freekin, which I suspect came from his Dad.

You also have to remember English is a second language for many of the drivers. A lot of viewers, and I suspect the FIA, won’t know if a driver swears in their own language. For example how many people know Finnish swear words or Chinese, Japanese etc.

OP posts:
Brazilianadventure · 02/11/2024 11:35

@Sulusu CH was filmed leaving Williams. James Vowels joked they had a new coffee machine he wanted to try. 😂

Liam’s reaction yesterday when he thought he had interfered with a RB’s lap was worrying. I think CH read him the riot act about Mexico and his seat next year, so he is on best behaviour not to take any points from RB.

WRT Colapinto I think a deal has been done or is in progress. It’s a logical step for RB as their plan seemed to be DR in RB with Yuki and Liam in VCARB. Clearly DR is out, so logically Liam will go in the RB and Colapinto in the VCARB. The rumours are as Honda is pulling out of RB at the end of 2025 that Yuki has less influence (££) to get a RB seat.

James Vowels has been quoted saying Colapinto did not bring finance but there had been a lot of enquiries from potential sponsors from Argentina.

I actually think it’s more pragmatic that RB/VCARB need a young driver with potential and the Williams seat has given Colapinto the opportunity to shine.

OP posts:
CelesteCunningham · 02/11/2024 11:39

I'd love to see Colapinto in the Torro Rosso (or whatever the hell they're called these days!) but honestly putting him straight in the RB next to Max will just kill his career.

RB can be so toxic with their drivers. Amazing the extent to which their pipeline has dried up though, seems like ten minutes since they had too many drivers.

gingercat02 · 02/11/2024 12:45

I would still like Franco to get a couple of seasons in the Haas under his belt.

I think that the drivers should work out how to swear in the less obvious languages that aren't currently represented on the grid - if they did swear in those languages during a press conference, I'd wonder if a reporter would actually report up to the Stewards that a driver had sworn during the conference...interesting...wonder if they would be up for a bit of a challenge.

Or...all of the drivers should swear on camera...like an epidemic of swearing...how could the Stewards keep up! 😆

Brazilianadventure · 02/11/2024 13:32

@LookItsMeAgain 😂😂

I don’t think the reporters care, in fact they probably welcome it. I have a feeling it’s the FIA president.

OP posts:
LookItsMeAgain · 02/11/2024 13:34

He is turning into a bit of a dry shite isn't he??😆

I remember a few years ago he was being hailed as a breath of fresh air but he's really, from this fan's point of view anyway, damaging the sport and everything around it.

Brazilianadventure · 02/11/2024 14:32

Oh Oscar that was tight. It was right to take the lead but an early swap would have been much better for McLaren who want a 1,2.

OP posts:
CelesteCunningham · 02/11/2024 14:44

Yeah I was practically shouting at the screen to swap them, they were too close to a safety car or VSC blocking them.

An afternoon of refreshing Twitter now to see if there's a penalty for Max.

Sulusu · 02/11/2024 14:53

I have had a chuckle at all the furious Red Bull and Verstappen fans raging about the race being "manipulated". Bit ironic. How soon they have forgotten 2021.

The VSC might have been called a bit late but doubt it was deliberate.

McLaren really should have swopped drivers earlier though to be on the safe side.

Brazilianadventure · 02/11/2024 15:04

What is interesting is the media are claiming the drivers are split on Max’s tactics but when you listen to what they actually say it’s along the lines of in Max’s position [fighting for a championship] you do everything you can. That is not the same as saying Max’s driving is or is not over the line.

Whilst I feel for Oscar, he is not the first team mate in this situation. Historically one driver gave up his car so his team mate could win. Imagine if he was No 2 to Michael and giving up the Austria win like Barrichello did!

OP posts:
imworkinglatecosimasinger · 02/11/2024 16:52

Wonder why no word yet from stewards re Max VSC infringement - only a point or 2 down but even so 🙏😂

goingdownfighting · 02/11/2024 17:01

Verstappen has a retrospective 5 second penalty - announced by f1 on twitter. Drops him down to fourth in sprint race classification.

Tilda77 · 02/11/2024 18:02

Looks like it's going to be a wet quali and possibly wet race too. Nothing like a bit of rain to shake things up!

Rowgtfc72 · 02/11/2024 18:36

Wouldn't be surprised if quali was tomorrow. Must be losing light now.

Yeah I heard Crofty use that same argument about swearing in other languages, and I don't get it. If you represent a sport, don't swear on international events relating to it.

It's really not hard.
