Watched Q1 (Checo 🫣) then couldn't be arsed and came to bed...

Sulusu · 27/10/2024 11:46

Fab lap from Sainz, hope he gets a win tomorrow, might be his best chance of one for Ferrari in the remaining races.

It looked pretty painful but he managed to style it out.

Just want to get on with quali now, already had enough filler chat.

I’ve just seen a different shot of the trip, it was much bigger than I first thought. He was lucky not to really hit his head.

I hope you all know who Billy Monger is. He has just completed the Ironman in a world record time for a double leg amputee.

He had to:

  • swim 2.4 miles in the unfamiliar waters of the Pacific
  • cycle 112 miles through exposed terrains and strong crosswinds
  • run 26.2 miles across barren lava fields in intense humidity

👏👏👏 well done Billy.

This was to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Billy Monger is absolutely amazing isn't he.

He could have had a really negative mindset to his amputations but through the support network around him, he's managed to turn something that lots of people would have been utterly devastated about into something so positive and he has such a wonderfully positive outlook on life. He really is an absolute sweetheart and I'm in awe of him.

Billy is amazing. He and his sister were brilliant on Race Across the World. She was one of the first on-scene at his crash 🥰

StarCourt · 27/10/2024 15:01

I watched Race Across the World and was in awe of Billy

I know, Bonnie stayed with him while they cut Billy out of the car.

Amazing from Billy Monger. His mental strength is amazing, his physical strength too obviously

Rowgtfc72 · 27/10/2024 15:58

Been a touring car fan for years so followed Billy through ginetta juniors and then f4.
Was watching on TV when he had that crash, horrible, horrible moment.
He has a wonderful supportive family around him and he's always looked for the positives.

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 27/10/2024 20:25

Now we'll see what the stewards re made of...

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 27/10/2024 20:27

Good!

CelesteCunningham · 27/10/2024 20:27

D'oh Max! Tell you what, I'll happily take a Ferrari & Norris podium.

RockaLock · 27/10/2024 20:31

Finally, the stewards have noticed that Max is somehow unable to take a corner when under pressure without going so wide that he forces the overtaking car off the track (often going off himself in the process) whereas normally he would take the corner perfectly

I understand they are looking at a rule change for next year...

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 27/10/2024 20:33

What seems unfair is that Landi being forced off the track = one of his track limit warnings. How is that right?

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 27/10/2024 20:35

Another 10 seconds. Bout time they got him to behave a bit better.

RockaLock · 27/10/2024 20:35

Finally, the stewards have grown a pair!

20 seconds, that's amazing Grin

Lulubellamozarella · 27/10/2024 20:36

C'mon lets hear the radio message to Max telling him about his second penalty. I wanna hear him cry!! 😂

mummyh2016 · 27/10/2024 20:36

I am over the bloody moon about verstappens penalties Grin

Brazilianadventure · 27/10/2024 20:37

I know I will get criticised for this as I’m not a Max fan, but today is a perfect example of Max being under pressure and going too far. This was the flaw Michael had.

Max has shown he can race well in close wheel to wheel racing e.g. with Charles, when he has a car that can easily win the world championship. When he is in the pack he resorts to the pushing off track. You only have to look at his starts against Lewis in the early 2021 races.

The first 10s seems a bit harsh! Need to have another look though. The second one fair enough.

MercedesLeftWheelNut · 27/10/2024 20:39

No criticism from me @Brazilianadventure - I agree. Max's temperament is his biggest flaw and damages his racing skill.

Tilda77 · 27/10/2024 20:40

The stewards mean business this weekend!

Brazilianadventure · 27/10/2024 20:53

I love the fact that Carlos can be strategic whilst racing and will make calls.
