Lewis starting from the pits, this could be a fun one.

Awful crash at the start of the F2 race but all ok.

Baku is one of my least favourite races. I hate it's layout and the walls make it feel unnecessarily dangerous. Far more than Monaco. Every time the drivers brush past the solid castle wall I grimace. I hate how unsafe it feels watching it.

I love Baku for that. It's twisty and tight, and the walls add jeopardy but not real danger usually.
It's really pretty, too.

Yeah me too, I really like Baku.

Can't watch live so really hoping I manage to avoid spoilers.

Why's Lewis starting from the pit?

GrouchyKiwi · 15/09/2024 09:48

New power unit.

gingercat02 · 15/09/2024 09:56

Lewis PL start for new PU, Gasley grid top for fuel pump issues, and Zhou grid drop for new PU parts.

CelesteCunningham · 15/09/2024 10:04

Ocon starting from the pits now too. Going to be busy in there.

YouAreAllMySymmetry · 15/09/2024 10:11

Jeez!

Honestly think it's times up for Zhou. When's the last time he even troubled another driver? Just seems to trundle round in his own wee special race; he must bring in an avalanche of cash or he'd surely be gone.

Well done Oscar magnificent defending. Charles kept it clean and drove so well.

Well done Lando.

Bearman and Collapinto both get points.

I feel sorry for Sergio and Carlos.

Wow what a race! I'd been expecting some sort of incident all race with how close they were up front. You have to feel for Perez. He'd had a good weekend and was looking forward to him finishing ahead of Max.

YouAreAllMySymmetry · 15/09/2024 13:42

Jesus what a race!!

<passes out>

Brazilianadventure · 15/09/2024 13:46

From a season that started looking like a Max RB victory season what a turn around. The last seven races are hopefully going to be just as close.

Double points for Williams today. I'm a happy Williams fan. I know bit of luck involved (poor Perez and Sainz), but it was a good race from Albon and Colapinto.

YouAreAllMySymmetry · 15/09/2024 13:51

I would be feeling very aggrieved if I was Checo tbh.

Brazilianadventure · 15/09/2024 14:00

I agree Perez drove well and was biding his time.

Horner is not going to be happy.

Bloody hell, what a race!
Can't believe McLaren are ahead in the constructors. Shame for Checo and Carlos, but I expect it to go down as a racing incident.
Brilliant drive by Oscar and Charles, bet George felt a bit of a fraud on the podium.

LookItsMeAgain · 15/09/2024 15:38

I'm picturing a scene in one of the garages over the next few days where they say "See - that's how you support your team mate....by taking out the competition!" and using the coverage of Sainz and Perez as the example, because much as he probably wanted (and daresay needed) the points, Perez is definitely the #2 driver to Verstappen and by him going out in the dying laps of the race, he helped Max to more points. (Weird logic being applied here).

It was a great race and I'm delighted that Williams is showing glimmers of their former glory days. Their pitstop was faster than Max's was so that's definitely something.

YouAreAllMySymmetry · 15/09/2024 16:47

I think they hold the record from last season don't they, at 1.8 seconds or something?

Rowgtfc72 · 15/09/2024 18:36

Was disappointed after quali yesterday, being a Lando fan.
What can I say about today? Lando redeemed himself, Piastri won and Mclaren lead the championship by 20 points.

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 15/09/2024 20:38

Heyyy, I'm so pleased to find other F1 fans on here! I've always chatted to others on Twitter but it's so toxic on there I've come off and am missing the post race chit chat!
Today's race was absolutely fab, I've bitten all my nails. So impressed with Lando, Oscar and the whole McLaren's team. It was epic viewing!
Still can't decide who was at fault at the end, Sainz or Perez, think maybe it was just a racing incident. Unfortunate for them, but great for McLaren! So excited for next week already. Lando needs 9 points more in each race to beat Max!

Brazilianadventure · 16/09/2024 11:57

@DrunkTinkerbell40s welcome. We are definitely not toxic on this thread.

It is go8ng to be a very interesting and hopefully exciting last 7 races this year.

I hope we have more races like yesterday from now until the end if the season but I don't think my nerves can take it! At the start of the season I dozed off or wandered off mid race to do something else but yesterday kept me on the edge of my seat.
