I'm not surprised Newey wants a UK based team so he can be at home as much as possible.

Still shame though, I wanted to see him with Hamilton.

Lance Stroll knows damn well he shouldn't be in the car

I'm surprised he's going to another team to be honest. The only really dominant season they had was 2023 so I do wonder how much he can do at AM, unless it's just a payday for Lance to get a winning car

On another note, all this fuss about dynamic pricing for Oasis tickets is interesting. Been that way for a while with Silverstone yet no one in authority seemed bothered. I’m glad a spotlight is being shined on it, might result in a ban!

Yep!!! It was £250 when I got them but went up to £350 within hours n

I see Sky Sports are now reporting that Newey will be signing with Aston Martin from 2025. Will probably be announced in Baku then.

I'm disappointed he didn't go back to Williams but I guess Stroll Senior has offered him a ridiculous sum of money.

Apparently Aston Martin have a press conference on the 10th. We may finally get an announcement on Tuesday.

Finally, Adrian Newey announced as Aston Martin Managing Technical Partner.

He is apparently also a shareholder hence the Partner in his title.

I'm a wee bit disappointed as it seems like a purely money thing. But eh a shareholder as well, it's fair enough I suppose.

I don't see Alonso continuing for a lot more years, so I wonder who AM will chase for the second seat. I guess Verstappen will be a priority.

Jeremy Clarkson was at school with Adrian and lives in the same area so it’s not surprising he knew where Adrian was house hunting. I do think Ferrari was a serious contender but Lawrence Stroll may have been prepared to give him more decision making power.

I think if he can Alonso may carry on until 2027 as by then he will know how good the car is under the new regs.

The question of who would take Alonso’s seat is interesting as surely the plan is for Lance to be No1 driver and World Champion.

So the next announcement we are awaiting is Liam Lawson to VCRB.

I don't know what I think about the Newey Aston deal.
I can't bear Stroll Sr or Jr., so I suppose I'm not happy over all.
I would have preferred McLaren or Williams.
A Hamilton Newey partnership as their swansong was a bit of a pipe dream as I think Maranello was always going to be a deal breaker.

He wouldn't have got partnership status at Ferrari so it makes sense to me. I wanted him at AM though so I'm pleased.

They're building something here, and there could end up being an AM/Mercedes battle for Max, that would be interesting.

I cannot stand either of the Strolls, so for that reason, I wish he'd gone elsewhere. Unless Lance has a personality transplant I don't think he would be a popular winner, thinking about it he is literally the only driver who is not on my radar/not interested in.

Honda and Alpine as engine suppliers have committed a procedural breach of the 2023 cost cap rules.

Whilst I think the cost cap is sensible the fact it takes so long for the audit to be completed does make sanctions more challenging. I still think RB got away lightly for the 2021 breach.

This time it does sound more like paperwork than an overspend.

So qually looks like it will be competitive between the top 8. Sergio is doing better relative to Max.

Ollie Bearman is doing well. I know he crashed in FP3 but he knew exactly what he had done and would learn for next time to bale out into the run off. The team seem very impressed.

What happened to Norris in Q1 - they pulled him into the pits before he could cross the line at the chequered flag. He's now out of qualifying.

@LookItsMeAgain there was a yellow flag so Lando had to slowdown. I think Lando pulled in the pits because he knew he couldn’t do a better time.

Ollie Bearman qualified P11 yay. I do hope he lives up to his early promise.

There has been a radio message released from either F1 or McLaren and this is the text of it:

Lando: yellow flag, can I go again or not?
Will: No we have to box, we have to box..(some seconds later) Man, I'm sorry, they shouldn't have done that

So Lando could have crossed the start/finish line, started another lap and potentially been higher up the grid than 15th.

It's like McLaren are self sabotaging at this stage. They have the car, they definitely have the drivers but they are getting dizzy at the prospect of winning something after such a long time it seems.

I agree, I think everyone seems to want to see McLaren do well this season, but they seem to have issues with decision making that constantly trip them up.

Baku is one of my least favourite races. I hate it's layout and the walls make it feel unnecessarily dangerous. Far more than Monaco. Every time the drivers brush past the solid castle wall I grimace. I hate how unsafe it feels watching it.

I think it's a cool track; the varied architecture alongside it is so beautiful and different to anywhere else.

Has anyone been to Abu Dhabi GP?

I've just booked a hotel in AD for next December, 5 nights.

It's DH 50th next year so thought I would treat him.

Are tickets ridiculously expensive?

Happy to pay up to £1K each for good seats for Sat/Sun.

Is it worth it?

I can cancel the hotel until next December so thought I would reserve it at a good price.

You should be able to get tickets with that budget. It’s not easy to find all 2024 prices as an indicator because many are sold out.

Just keep an eye out for when tickets go on sale.
