I think it’s a combination of things.
Some of it is incredibly bad luck with freak injuries, Dan Burn and Elliot Anderson both broke bones in their back - Burn after an awkward fall on the pitch and no idea how Anderson did his. now Miley has done something to his. Jacob Murphy and Nick Pope both dislocated their shoulder and needed operating on - both popped out on the pitch after falling 🤮
Harvey Barnes seemingly broke his toe running and was out of contention for 5 months with the maddest injury of all. Callum Wilson tore his tit in a seemingly innocuous tussle in injury time and is out for 6-8 weeks.
We’ve had two ACL’s in the space of a week. Botman was already out for three months earlier in the season with a knee issue that in hindsight should probably have been operated on then but he opted against it.
Livramento rolled his ankle last week running for a ball - probably done ligament damage.
Isaks groin is made of spiders webs and glass so he is susceptible to strains and pulls which seem him out for a few weeks at a time.
Joelinton got a season ending thigh tear seemingly just putting in a cross ball. But then jogged back out on it in the second half - did that aggravate it?
The rest of it seems to be the usual strains and pulls but there are questions being asked of our medical team, particularly as the culture seems to be to try and get back from injury asap - to help the team out - does that help the player though?
And of course our big summer signing gambling his way through the league resulting in a lengthy suspension doesn’t help.
None of the injuries we pick up are short term though, they are all massive needing ops and significant rehab. It’s been a disaster all round. The amount of games don’t help but I think probably 60% of these injuries are so freak that they would have happened anyway.
