Brilliant! Does it go to Wembley?

It does! * *

🤸 Yay!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 16/02/2024 21:52

I think that I would have preferred Chelsea to win that so that we had a chance of competing for 2nd.

But must admit, it was nice to see Chelsea lose.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. It's a sell out at the Emirates, so I hope that the team rewards the fans.

BellaAmorosa · 16/02/2024 22:13

I haven't given up hope of winning the league so I like this result - as long as we beat Manchester United tomorrow.

MrsMitford3 · 17/02/2024 14:48

Wooohoooooooooooo @BellaAmorosa !!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 17/02/2024 18:21

Yes, we didn't play our best football, but we got the points.

BellaAmorosa · 17/02/2024 18:32

Yes, indeed MrsMitford - Woot woot! We're gonna win the league! 😂
I thought we played well, not our absolute best, but well. We defended better apart from that really annoying loss of concentration at the end. From here we have a shot - a long shot, but if we'd lost or drawn, we could have kissed the title goodbye definitively and probably second place as well. We're still in the race - just.

And if Sarina Wiegman doesn't start Lotte Wubben Moy now, in the absence of both Leah Williamson and Millie Bright, then she wants her head examining.

Wish Arsenal would take their chances- felt like could have been more goals really!
Long story but had opportunity to watch from a box yesterday. Heated seats were so lovely. It will be hard to go back to normal now I have experienced how the prawn sandwich brigade do it!

I agree, it's frustrating, we could have scored 5 or 6, but it was good to see us looking balanced and relatively fluent again. (At least that's what we looked like from the cheap seats! 😆) And you have to credit Mearps for some excellent keeping. Plus Beth hit the post twice. Great result but still lots to work on.

DuncinToffee · 18/02/2024 15:48

I didn't think we would score and then 2 goals in the last 10 minutes by our Italians Grin

On the downside, it looks like a serious injury to Karoline Olesen.

You certainly made us wait, but it was worth it - two stunning goals. First home win of the season, I gather?

BellaAmorosa · 18/02/2024 17:36

I switched channels to watch Leicester City v Bristol City so I didn't see the end. Was it an ACL for Olesen?

DuncinToffee · 18/02/2024 17:52

Latest update is no broken leg or knee injury so we will have to wait.

And yes first home win of the season.

🤞

DuncinToffee · 19/02/2024 12:44

There were fears of a torn quad muscle but the club has now confirmed that Olesen has avoided a major injury and she will only be our for a short period.

OMG. Oh, poor, poor thing. It always seems to strike when the player is having a great season.

BellaAmorosa · 24/02/2024 11:37

Russo and Mead both scored braces against Austria, excellent performances from both. LWM got to play the second half against Austria (yay!), who were awful! I felt quite sorry for Zinsberger (Arsenal player, for those who don't know). So I am not sure what Sarina will have learned, because Austria didn't pose any kind of test defensively. They are normally one of those stubborn, hard-to-break-down sides. We still managed to give up two headed goals, which is annoying. So that's one thing Wiegman can address.
Well done to Grace Clinton, as well. A great game and a goal.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 24/02/2024 12:14

I love LWB (Arsenal fan!) & I really hope Serena puts her in the starting line up.
I felt a bit sorry for Manu, but I do think she's the weakest link in Arsenal Womens atm.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 24/02/2024 15:16

Yes, I was laughing about Mead's first goal until I realised that that gk was Zinsberger!

Yesterday would not have done much for her confidence at all.

I didn't realise that Clinton started out at Everton.

Poor Manu. She looked embarrassed, her confidence must be shot.

BellaAmorosa · 24/02/2024 16:10

Clinton has got the strongest Scouse accent south of Alex Greenwood...

LWM fan here as well. Pretty much standard for the entire Arsenal Women FC fanbase, as I am discovering! She has got so good, she really should be starting. Since Bright is still injured (think/hope Williamson will be all right), she is surely next in line of that type of CB. I actually think she's now better than Millie Bright but that might just be my Arsenal-tinted spectacles.
