I haven't seen the foul yet but could the yellow be turned into a red in retrospect?

Piemonte received a 3 match ban for violent conduct that was missed during the match against Bristol last month.

Yes, it was a great result v Spurs and keeps them in touching distance of finishing in the top 3, BellaAmorosa.

I loved Casey Stoney but understood why she went to San Diego. I'd not heard the rumour she might take over from Emma Hayes but I can imagine Chelsea would be willing to make her a great offer.

Lauren James was lucky to get away with a yellow card. She seems to get frustrated when things aren't going her way. There's no need for it. She can win balls on her talent

BellaAmorosa · 10/12/2023 21:13

I don't know if the yellow card can be upgraded - it might be that violent conduct can only be punished if the ref doesn't see it/punish it at the time. But we'll no doubt find out in the coming days.

I'd have loved Casey Stoney for Arsenal, nettie. She played for us for a while - two separate stints, iirc.

Yes. Very pleased for her.

nettie434 · 20/12/2023 11:35

It's amazing how Mary Earps has done so well appealing to football fans and a wider audience.

Re injuries have watched the Arsenal.com documentary about Beth and Viv’s ACL recovery. They keep saying they want more research on why- wonder if the fifapro report is the outcome of that. The chief physio said he was getting in some experts to do analysis.

I can't believe that he is given any coverage for his comments. He should just be ignored.

He said that his brother who was convicted of a racist murder, lost 17 years of his life.

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 14:20

It looks like Nathalie Bjorn will be leaving Everton and sign for Chelsea, big loss.

Poor Sam Kerr.

But I think Chelsea will cope and win the league again (unfortunately).

BellaAmorosa · 11/01/2024 11:47

Happy New Year to all.

Bjorn going to Chelsea - commiserations to Everton, congratulations to Chelsea. Really good, versatile player. Big loss. Do you have any idea about a replacement, duncintoffee?

We are supposed to be getting Emily Fox - a right-footed full back who plays on the lieft or the right. She started every game for USWNT at the World Cup and is 25. I don't really remember her from the World Cup, but that can be a good thing in a defender.

I feel terrible about Sam Kerr. The number of times I've cursed her for getting Chelsea out of trouble and wished she wasn't playing for them, but it's so sad that she is out of action for this reason. Wishing her a speedy and smooth recovery.

And as for Joey Barton....! That is a good, strong statement from ITV. I'm a little irritated by the use of the word "gender" when they mean sex, but that is a detail.

BellaAmorosa · 12/01/2024 17:14

Kathrine Kuhl joining Everton is great news for both. The style will suit her and she is a phenomenal young player. A number 8 who I think could also play as a number 10. Her close control is exceptional, she is learning to shield the ball well and her vision is imaginative. She is inconsistent, which is why she is going on loan, but she is also eager to learn and take responsibility. She is trusted to start games by her national team coach (the one who's just got sacked, admittedly!) and Pernille Harder loves playing with her. Importantly. she is more mature and further ahead in her development than Gio, so I think she will contribute a lot more.

And she paints rather well in her spare time!

DuncinToffee · 12/01/2024 17:27

I haven't heard about this loan, sounds exciting and thanks for the info on Kuhl. I will have a look at her.

I think we only getting loan players, there is almost no budget available.

Very promising sounding interview with the head of NewCo, Nikki Doucet. She has grasped the fundamental point about the growth of women's football - the fanbase is and will continue to be different as it grows. There is some overlap with men's football fans, of course, but understanding that there is a difference is key. I'm cautiously optimistic about the new stewards of women's football in England. If only they had a better name! What is NewCo? It's a "TBC" sort of name, a placeholder until they thought of something better...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68097460

How is WSL takeover going and what changes will be made?

It is only six months until the top two divisions in women's football are taken over by a club-owned company - so what do we know so far and how far has the process reached?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68097460

DuncinToffee · 28/01/2024 11:43

Yes, NewCo and Project Moonshot all sound a bit strange when talking about women's football. Not so sure about the Glastonbury experience either.

otherwise, I agree that it sound promising.

Jill Roord is the next one out with an ACL

OP posts:
BellaAmorosa · 30/01/2024 14:11

Very sad about Jill Roord. (I posted something yesterday but it appears to have been spirited off into the ether!)

I liked Doucet's Glastonbury comparison, actually. To me it means an England-at-Wembley party vibe, which seems quite apt. Enjoying the experience, singing your lungs out, jumping up and down and getting carried away while you're there but not smashing shop windows afterwards if you lose. But with better toilet arrangements than Glastonbury, obviously!
