Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.

👀👀 @Brefugee do you think they are credible links? Is he any good?

Brefugee · 05/01/2024 20:34

i can't remember which account it was on Twitter.

He's getting more playing time under our new coach, and he's doing well so I can't imagine why he'd leave. But our club are poor so - money talks.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 05/01/2024 23:21

We have plenty of money but thanks to FFP we can’t spend it 🙄

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 05/01/2024 23:24

Funny how some clubs are now worried about FFP, but haven't been for the past 10 years or so...

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 05/01/2024 23:56

We’re in such a shit situation because Ashley generated no revenue and used the club as a cheap advertisement board for his shonky goods rather than actually get investment. For a supposedly good businessman he was Fucking useless.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 06/01/2024 00:05

The investigations into City seem to be taking rather a long time...

Urgh. That type of owner is the worst (Wednesday have an utterly shit owner)

Chelsea are looking at him too (Netz) as well as Bayern. If he goes I'd rather he left the Bundesliga

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 06/01/2024 12:05

Atmosphere building up to boiling point on Wearside. Sunderland fans screaming scum at the Newcastle players as they get off the bus, 6,000 fans transported by the club to the stadium of light with a bacon butty and a scarf in a mammoth bubble trip.

Ahhhh. Derby days.

Brefugee · 06/01/2024 12:26

i hate that atmosphere - it's similar when we play Cologne and i really can't join in with any of it.

Friendly rivalry and bantz is fine, expected and desired even. But the spittle-flecked hate is awful

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 06/01/2024 12:27

I don’t enjoy it at all either. I’d happily never play them again.

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 13:01

It's a very stripey derby

I'm actually struggling to tell them apart on the TV when the shots are further away. It's the shorts I have to use to work it out. I'm guessing it's much easier there though.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 06/01/2024 13:48

In person it’s a lot easier but yeah on the TV it’s not ideal. I can pick out a Newcastle player by the way they run etc but for a more casual viewer of the two sides it’s a lot more difficult. We do usually play each other in home kits but both have a lot of white on this time so I wasn’t sure if it would be ok.

Sad to hear of the death of Arsenal fan David Soul.

I didn't realise he was a Gooner. I only just read it in his obituary. I didn't even realised that he lived in London.

AndNobbyDancing · 06/01/2024 17:04

Love the FA cup.

Writing this from St Mary's just such a great atmosphere, so pleased for Eastleigh, hope to watch the replay.

Hope Maidstone get a big away draw.

Gutted for Chesterfield, bloody Watford.

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 17:20

I am disappointed that the games chosen for tv are mainly PL teams

I thought you'd done away with replays?

DuncinToffee · 06/01/2024 17:31

Paddy Power Grin

An OG, a defender putting a goal on a plate for Newcastle, and a penalty.

Think Sunderland may have gone too far with the hospitality now, tbh.

Bit disappointed with the Gills, they didn't really give Sheff Utd a game just sat back and gifted them the first 3 goals. Max Ehmer had a good chance from a set piece at 2-0 down, beat the goalie but typically hit the inside of the post and back out Grin

Very pleased to see Maidstone beat Stevenage, hopefully they will be rewarded with a decent tie in the next round.

No, there are still replays this year, but one of the commentators said that they thought that they would disappear next year.

Brefugee · 06/01/2024 21:39

Bloody Norah! Shefflied-flippin'-Wednesday!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 06/01/2024 22:57

I thought replays had been done with or is that a proposal? Same with 2 leg calbro cup! Thought we'd play Boro at a neutural ground instead it's 2 legged still.

Yep I heard that, mostly due to the new Champions League format coming in. EFL and non-league clubs will be the ones to suffer with the replays being a lifeline for many Sad

Brefugee · 07/01/2024 10:00

given the number of matches that are played in England, and the bitching and whining from managers and players, I'm surprised replays are still a thing. We don't have them here, it's 30 minutes extra time and penalties.
