Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.

Wow! Thought we were going to rue those missed chances the first half but what a performance and result Grin

You deserved to win Dunc. Our away form has been awful this season. Trippier has been absolutely outstanding for us but my, when he has a bad game, he has an absolute stinker. I can only hope we start to get some players back soon. We have a bench full of keepers, pensioners and children, we have a full starting 11 plus subs out with injury/suspension, massive players as well in Botman, Pope, Wilson, Willock, Longstaff, Barnes and Murphy, not to mention Tonali. They would all historically either start or be a credible rotation option. It’s difficult when we’re playing the same starting 11 3 games per week with no options off the bench to change the game or even just give the other lads a rest.

Hey ho. We move. Spurs away on Sunday 🤦🏼‍♀️ it could be a bloodbath. They’ll want revenge for our 6-1 embarrassing of them last season. Then just the small matter of AC Milan 3 days later. Sure it’ll be grand 😂😂

This is pathetic from Sky, reporting from the Wirral because of the protests at Goodison

What are they scared of, a paper cut Hmm

@MustTryHarderAndHarder I was grinning and rolling my eyes at that, too - can you even imagine the reaction if that happened in a Premier League match!

TheSleepingGiant · 08/12/2023 19:49

Think Neville was spot on, there is a lot of naivety in Postecoglou and the play and they are getting found out. Few players not at their best yesterday, notably Kulu constantly failing to deliver the first time balls!! Subs were questionable. Despite that I did enjoy the first half.

Gills match away to Barrow has been called off due to a water logged pitch, gives them an extra week to prepare for Bradford on the 16th.

burblish · 09/12/2023 14:35

Bloody hell, Liverpool were very lucky - despite being without some of their best players due to injury, Crystal Palace played SO well. I don’t think Ayew should have been sent off. Liverpool winning ugly. Huge relief for us, but I really feel for Palace (DH is a Palace fan so I have a soft spot for them.)

Brefugee · 09/12/2023 17:23

blimey Sheffield Wednesday WON! and are now not bottom of the league. That feels good. Gladbach were absolutely useless. I'm off to see their women play tomorrow.

Well, that was a bit shit. Saka and Jesus not on form tonight. Villa very organised in defence. We had some chances but couldn't make them count. I'm not sure the goal shouldn't have been given. If it's because it hit Havertz's hand, then surely it should be a penalty because it hit Cash's hand first?

But they were given everything by the ref. It's clear that since Arteta called them out, the refs, and VAR, are going to make sure we get nothing from them this season.

We're going to have to do it against 12 men every week now.

Bournemouth totally deserved their win.

I ended up not going to Gayfield today. The weather hasn't been the best and tonight was opening night of our panto. I help in wardrobe and backstage can be chilly so I didn't fancy freezing at the footy then not being able to warm up at the theatre. We lost 2-1 anyway. Sad

Yes, we didn't play that well, but we should have at least drawn.

It was just one of those days.

At least we were able to control the game, unlike City on Wednesday.

They tried their best which is all you can ask for.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 09/12/2023 22:32

Blatant penalty for kicking Jesus's leg away. Blatant red card for a deliberate elbow in Nketiah's face off the ball.

Those are just the major ones. It really is appalling.

Yes. I think that I am becoming numb to the referee/var mistakes as nothing can be done about them.

Another stressful match to look forward to today for the women.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 10/12/2023 10:52

Train problems massively buggering up travel for Newcastle fans for the game today.

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2023 16:14

Yes, get in!!! Another good win and debut goal for Dobbin.

Yes, great result. Mind you, Iwobi is doing well at Fulham. He scored 2 during the week and had an assist today.

That is the best football song ever. Andy Bush on Absolute Radio plays it whenever he can get away with it.

I wish we had a decent song.

I heard the Aston Villa song based on Hi Ho Silver Lining for the first time yesterday.

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2023 17:09

Glad Iwobi is doing well, hope he can continue it.

Trippier is not having a good week

Quite a few clubs have adapted that song since it was released, including Wolves, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday. It's got that singalong quality hasn't it?

I read an Article in The Athletic suggesting that even You'll Never Walk Alone has been used by clubs other than Liverpool, which surprised me.

Good result for Everton. They deserve it after the 10 point fine.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 10/12/2023 17:56

I’m not sure what is happening to Newcastle when we leave the NE1 postcode currently… Trippier is having the poorest run of form he’s ever had in a black and white shirt.

Dubravka isn’t good enough to step in for Pope.

I think our injuries have done for us this season. It’s just too much. No way we’re going to get top 4 again this time round. Great to see Cal and Longstaff back though, hopefully Botman and Barnes back soon too. Might mean we can continue with our cup run.

Oblomov23 · 10/12/2023 18:06

I'm wondering when, clearly I missed it, Kulusevski got an elbow in the West Ham match, and so now wearing a mask against Newcastle.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 10/12/2023 18:10

Romero is incredibly lucky to still be on the pitch.

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2023 18:10

Why Romero, why do that, so silly. He infuriates me.
