Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.

Arsenal 4-0 up against Lens after less than half an hour - very impressive! Arteta really ought to take the likes of Saka and Odegaard off now and give them a bit of a breather. Oh blimey, just as I typed that, Saka went down under a heavy challenge - he’s ok but Arteta really needs to bring him off. (I have no particular love for Arsenal, but I have a real soft spot for young Bukayo!).

DuncinToffee · 29/11/2023 20:37

I need Saka fit for my FPL, have enough injuries as it is Grin

Well, what's that they say about revenge?

I agree, Saka needs to be taken off for his own protection. I'd love to see young Myles Lewis-Skelly have a go.

Xhakalaka · 29/11/2023 20:56

Absolute shocker of a "pen" last night. The Newcastle team should be proud they gave it all and left nothing behind. Will be cheering on Dortmund to stuff PSG. Meanwhile I now hope i won't be hiding in the last mins of the second half. 5-0 up at half time 😁

Brefugee · 30/11/2023 06:28

Sheffield Wednesday ONE! Didn't lose to Leicester.
I'll take that

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 30/11/2023 14:07

Just came across this! Agree, shocker re Istanbul. I've been there - Fenerbache and Galatasaray; amazing atmosphere. Well spooky when you hear the Fenerbache ends singing back to each other their version of "7 Nation Army". Never had any trouble there and loved staying around Sultan Ahmet. Only issue was local bars trying to rip you off - claiming your friends 'forgot' to pay previous evening's last round. Lovely Turkish tea gardens and food plus pretty good public transport. I'll stop now because derail into travel log but come back David de Gea - all is forgiven!!!

Brefugee · 02/12/2023 18:33

Sheffield Wednesday won their 2nd match of the season! And Gladbach had a good win at home against Hoffenheim. And Sheffield United got stuffed. So I'm pretty happy this evening

TheSleepingGiant · 02/12/2023 19:44

Great news @Brefugee

Also happy this evening, Gillingham are into the next round of the FA Cup!! Beat Charlton 2-0 and the team put on one of the best displays I've seen this season. Gills chased for Alfie Mays signature all summer but lost out last minute to Charlton so that helped make the win feel that much sweeter Grin

Hoping little old Ramsgate can upset Wimbledon Monday night.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 02/12/2023 20:26

A bit scrappy at the end, but we were comfortable for most of the match. Ødegaard looking back to form is a good thing.

I guess I've got to support Sp*rs tomorrow. Like tonight's match, I want both teams to lose!

DuncinToffee · 02/12/2023 21:03

Hard fought win for us tonight

we shall not be moved

Oblomov23 · 02/12/2023 21:35

Gordon goal was easy.

Brefugee · 02/12/2023 21:46

I hope the Newcastle goalie (sorry not good on names) is OK. He looked in agony as he went off the pitch just now

oviedo · 02/12/2023 21:57

So Scotland v Germany will open the Euros. Tough start!
England have a good draw though.

nettie434 · 02/12/2023 22:19

You must have been pleased with the result @DuncinToffee. It shows how determined the Everton players are.

The Newcastle Man Utd scoreline is far too flattering for Man Utd. Am thoroughly bored with Ten Hag's intransigence now. What a ridiculous team selection. Eddie Howe has done the opposite and motivated players to play to the maximum of their ability.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 02/12/2023 22:31

Was hoping that ManUre would come back with a flukey goal (or score one with a blatant foul ignored by VAR), but it was never going to happen. United were lucky to score nil in that game.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 02/12/2023 22:49

Just seen on twitter;

"The problem with Man utd is their fans are more serious than their players"

oviedo · 02/12/2023 23:16

Why on earth did TH start with Martial and Rashford? Both hopelessly out of form.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 03/12/2023 01:21

Pope looks to be out for a lengthy spell with a ?dislocated shoulder. We can now field a complete team with subs of injured players. Will it never end?

Brilliant result though. Man U were absolutely woeful but we were absolutely relentless, particularly in the first half. Anthony Gordon just keeps getting better and better. Tino Livramento is making that left back role his own. I’ve run out of superlatives for Tripps, Bruno and Joelinton. Mickey has an assuredness about his game that is insane for a 17 year old. We’re falling apart at the seams physically but I absolutely love this team. They’d run through walls for Eddie Howe.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 03/12/2023 01:22

*Miley not Mickey 🙄

Oblomov23 · 03/12/2023 07:22

Even the commentary was saying why didn't Rashford chase back, flaying his arms in exasperation all the time instead. He looks fed up, (with Ten Hag?) which he may well be, but there was also a woeful lack of effort, which just isn't ok, because irrespective of your frustrations, possibly with manager?, the professional thing to do is to still put a stint in.

Hellohah · 03/12/2023 10:57

United are always woeful, and none of our players are in form. It's been painful this season.

But we (as fans) are getting what we deserve. We are also woeful, and the games following the death of Sir Bobby showed that.

The Copenhagen and City games should have been bouncing with old school chants about the Busby Babes, but they weren't. Just moaning and crap. I'm fed up with it all. The football I could deal with but we've got no soul. Right the way through the club, we've lost sight of who we are :( There is no fight in any of us, on and off the pitch.

nettie434 · 03/12/2023 12:57

I sill look for tiny bits of comfort from the academy players, Hellohah, like Mainoo, Hannibal and Garnacho (although not strictly an academy player, I count him as a young Utd player because he was in the team that won the FA Youth Cup). That flag with 'Play like you mean it' sums up most of the players entirely. They talk as if they are the elite but play like a mid table League One team. As others say, where does professional pride come in, even if they don't agree with Ten Hag? Thank goodness for Man Utd Women. They always make an effort.

DuncinToffee · 03/12/2023 13:15

Crystal Palace away in the FA Cup, is ok I guess

Liverpool v Arsenal and Sunderland v Newcastle, tasty draws

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 03/12/2023 13:22

Just listening to Reading's situation, not paying their staff just before Christmas, horrible.

Fulll support for their fans.

OP posts:
TheSleepingGiant · 03/12/2023 13:24

Yep 2 tasty ties there. Been a while since Sunderland and Newcastle have played each other.

Spurs v Burnley not a bad tie, never enjoy playing the lower league clubs incase the worst happens 😂

Gills are at home to Sheff Utd, happy with that, very winnable. There will be a nice welcome back for John Egan too.
