Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.

According to the report, the commission ruled out a financial sanction because Everton have a wealthy owner (who is on his way out) Confused

Does any club have a poor owner?

As a fan of LFC, I'm appalled at the 10 point deduction for everton. And Man City? Nothing so far.

I really hope Everton don't go down this season.

On the 10 O'clock news last night they said that MC and Chelsea were also under investigation and that that could lead to relegation.

I'm not holding my breath, but surely relegation will mean nothing to those teams. They need to be told to sell the players that they shouldn't have bought in the first place at the price they paid for them or lower.

DuncinToffee · 18/11/2023 11:51

I think the overall consensus is that the 10 points are excessive, especially as the report made clear that Everton gained no sporting advantage.

We as fans would have accepted 3 points and maybe even 6 because we are all too aware of how our club has been mismanaged the last few years. This just feels like an other let's make an example of Everton

@DuncinToffee I agree, up to 6 points would be ok and more in line with previous deductions made against clubs. LFC fan here and I really hope now that Everton stay up - 10 points is not right.

Does any club have a poor owner?

Exactly! According to The Sun (assuming it's reliable for this), the poorest PL owner is Matthew Benham with a paltry £255m.

10 points is not only excessive in itself but even more unreasonable when the PL agree that Everton cooperated. I don't understand the possible complaints from Burnley, Leeds and Leicester either. How do they prove Everton had an advantage?

That annoys me, the investigation hadn't reached its conclusion at that time and anyway none of those clubs had done enough during the season to deserve to stay up.

Just back from Gills 3 goals and 3 points Grin

Well Arbroath had a 350 mile journey in the Scottish challenge cup today and we lost 4-1. Sad The supporters bus left around 4am to head down for it and apparently it broke down on the way but they made it to the match by the sound of things.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 25/11/2023 21:08

Absolutely fab result for Eddie and the lads this afternoon. Tight first half but we blew them apart in the second half. Anthony Gordon is just sensational.

Xhakalaka · 25/11/2023 22:06

Great result Eddie. We got our goal in the 89th minute!! This season I just don't have confidence we're actually gonna score despite some great football. Good for Havertz to score from open play. I couldn't watch the last few mins tho. I had to go in the garden, where if Brentford score I can hear it as I live close to them. When I thought it was the end I went back in and yippee! Then rewound and watched it back.

Tarkan · 26/11/2023 02:02

Arbroath lost to Spartans today in the Scottish Cup and well this happened. It's a lot for us to lose although I understand too. It's not just a manager. It's the whole coaching team. That's hard.

That's quite a shock Tarkan, hope you get some clarity on the next steps soon.

I am looking forward to our match, just wonder how Sky will manage it.

I might be delusional but I don't give up hope on us scoring now as we have scored so many goals in injury time this season and last season.

Until last season, I used to do what you did and just stop watching as I knew that we wouldn't score but this season I have hope until the last minute.

AndNobbyDancing · 26/11/2023 13:12

Sad news about Terry Venables. RIP

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/11/2023 13:14

RIP Terry.

I'm relieved we managed to finally score. The trouble is we don't look like scoring so much this season. The attacking players all seem to be playing it safe, rather than taking a few risks to get the reward.

Oblomov23 · 26/11/2023 14:41

Watching Spurs v Villa. Bit worried about this one. We have 10 of our 25 squad out on either injury or suspension.

nettie434 · 26/11/2023 15:49

Most people think Everton will want to prove a point @DuncinToffee and I am not expecting much from Man Utd. The only positive for me from a Utd perspective is that Kobbie Mainoo is in the squad. He is a local (Stockport) academy player. The academy players all have an excellent attitude. Elanga and Menghi scored yesterday but Ten Hag doesn't seem to rate them so sells them for 2p in favour of his expensive failures!

Arsenal did well to take advantage of the City v Liverpool draw yesterday. Newcastle did really well against Chelsea.

TheSleepingGiant · 26/11/2023 16:26

RIP Terry Sad

I was worried about the Villa game too, they are a decent team under Emery and these Spurs injuries/suspensions are really showing that the back up players are not good enough. Despite the result though I'm not overly disappointed with the performance, just wished they had converted their earlier chances and been more awake for Villa's soft second goal. Hoping the injury to Bentacur isn't too serious, he looked so upset coming off.

Gillingham's inconsistent performance's are extremely frustrating, after a very convincing win last weekend they go and deservedly lose to 3rd from bottom Tranmere! Harris and Millen both insisted on one up front and now Clemence is adopting the same approach. It just doesn't work.

Hoping Everton can win later, despite the deduction I don't feel worried for them.

Tarkan · 26/11/2023 16:36

RIP Terry. 😢

Just back from walking the dog to try and rid myself of the hangover I've had all day. A few too many last night. 🙈

As for Arbroath, that's been us knocked out of both the Scottish cup and the challenge cup already, we're sitting second bottom in the league with 4 wins and 7 losses so far. It's not been the worst ever but considering we were almost promoted to the premier league a couple of years ago it's been quite a different story this season so far. Apparently we had someone join the coaching staff from I think it was Berwick quite recently so I'm guessing he's taking over there now, not sure what the manager situation will be so we'll just sit and wait. The Campbells really turned the club around so there are big shoes to fill.

Brefugee · 26/11/2023 16:51

Sheffield Wednesday Nil continue to disappoint (although they did score a goal, so ...) Gladbach, meh, i never expect them to win against Dortmund.

And, so long, then, El Tel. RIP

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2023 18:41

Very disappointing, we didn't take our chances and got punished.

I am not feeling angry with the players or even Dyche as he left Young on, just feel deflated. We weren't supposed to be in relegation battle but yet here we are again.

Angry and cross with Spurs loss to Villa. Bills looked good, made us look bad.
