Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football.

that Norwich video is very good and I will be sharing it around on twitter/x on 19th November.

Sheffield Wednesday (nil) have signed a promising looking new trainer. I wonder if they'll break this one too.

burblish · 17/10/2023 12:15

The Norwich video was so powerful - the ending really hit me in the gut. Incredibly well done and I hope the message is seen far and wide.

Well no trip to Gayfield for me tomorrow, was meant to be the only home match this month but Babet has had other idea. I'm glad they've called it off early before people attempted to travel though.

Arbroath hasn't been affected too badly by the storm thankfully but it's crazy seeing people and places we know on the news.

It's all so predictable, red card, penalty and Dyche being booked for Konate's foul.

Repeated moaning about a replay paid off.

I was just talking about Sir Bobby with a friend a month ago. Sad RIP

nettie434 · 21/10/2023 16:56

When Harry Kane got Sir Bobby's record for England goals at Wembley, I was reminded of what a vital player he had been for England as well as Man Utd. He was the last survivor of Munich and I think that Geoff Hurst may be only player left from the 1966 World Cup now.

I'm on a train so I am haven't really followed any matches today but Everton must be seething.

Brefugee · 21/10/2023 17:09

Ah Sheffield-Wednesday-Nil not profiting from having a sexy new German trainer.

Also RIP Bobby from me.

burblish · 21/10/2023 20:45

RIP Sir Bobby Charlton - a legend and a true gent to boot.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 22/10/2023 00:16

RIP Bobby. An ashington lad through and through.

Bloody great day at SJP for me today. Nice to see Tonali get huge support from the crowd. Gambling is such a stupid thing but so easy to get sucked into. No wonder he’s looked like he’s had the weight of the world on his shoulders since he arrived here. Have we been done over by Milan? Almost certainly but we are where we are.

Oblomov23 · 22/10/2023 03:38

We had just arrived in Portugal and went out to see the Chelsea v Arsenal game, but left at half time because we were so tired, and it wasn't that exciting, but now I see it was 2-2!

I like the way Bobby Charlton always gave credit to his mother for his love of, and skill in, football. Of course she was Newcastle royalty as a cousin of Jacke Milburn but never got the chance to play professionally. There are some wonderful photographs of her kicking a ball in a tweed skirt and thick tights. This is good too.

Yes it certainly was exciting for us Gooners.

We didn't really deserve the draw. Don't know why we didn't turn up. I wonder if Odegaard was distracted about Norway being knocked out of the Euros.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 22/10/2023 14:46

Didn't get to see the game, only the MoTD highlights. Heard bits of it, but I was in the middle of the sea and had only sporadic reception until the end.

Sounds like we didn't turn up in the first half, and made problems for ourselves. Had more of the match in the second half, and should have had a penalty as well.

Oh well, at least we fought back for a point. A couple of years ago that would have been a loss. Arteta needs to get this sorted though, we've not been good for the last few matches.

Tarkan · 22/10/2023 18:37

Well the least said about that result today the better. Sad

RIP Bill Kenwright

nettie434 · 24/10/2023 19:20

It feels like the end of an era. I know there were controversies in recent years but Bill Kenwright's love for Everton was so apparent. Condolences to his family and friends and those who knew him.

DuncinToffee · 24/10/2023 19:55

Yes, many fans (me included) wanted him to step down as chairman but he was a true blue and a good man who has done a lot of good for the club and beyond. Sad day for Everton..

Yes, history matters no matter what happens as does passion. RIP

AndNobbyDancing · 25/10/2023 21:06

Shit me, I hope Jackie Grealish got paid A Lot for the Bose advert.

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 26/10/2023 08:27

Poor showing from us last night. And I include the crowd in that. Everyone seemed on edge and fuck me those drums are annoying 😂

Tarsandcase · 26/10/2023 10:13

Big game for Brighton tonight v Ajax. I'm gutted I can't go, I even have a ticket but we can't get childcare.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/10/2023 20:46

Is anyone watching the Brighton match on TNT? Is your reception bad? Mine keeps stopping and starting.
