And Watford sack their manager...

Grimsby Town for me. Was gutted when we dropped out of the league again but we've had a cracking start to the season in the Vanarama.

I dislike Man Utd, mainly because DH is a fan.

I have soft spots for Everton, Wolves (even though Andy Gray played for both) and Leicester. I generally don't do London clubs, but if I had to pick one it would be Spurs (love Nuno, Kane not so much).

Chelsea for the title now Romelu is back.

WhiteHartLane · 03/10/2021 17:51

A welcome win going into the international break. Not a convincing performance but a few more positives to hopefully build on.

Sadly not surprised by Watford sacking their manager - think that's the 5th one to go in 2 years? I don't think 15th in the table is that bad for a newly promoted team - deserved a few more games surely?

Ok week for Gillingham - a 2-0 win at Cambridge mid-week but lost 2-0 to Wigan yesterday. Sitting 18th in the table atm.

DuncinToffee · 03/10/2021 20:01

It feels a bit like Schadenfreude seeing both Ancelotti and Koeman doing badly this week Grin

How have I only just discovered this thread?

Liverpool fan.
Hate Man Utd.
I’ve accepted the DC’s right to support our local club (Spurs) rather than Liverpool or DH’s team (Palace).
I think it will be a tight and fascinating battle for the title this season. Obviously hoping Liverpool will win it, but Man City and Chelsea are both looking strong, too.

DuncinToffee · 17/10/2021 17:56

Well that wasn't very good, key players still missing and Benítez leaving it too late to make subs (imo at least Wink). Ah well, one to forget and not really worth watching on motd.

Still stunned after yesterday lol..knew Brentford wouldn't make it easy but the 2nd half was intense. Still amazed we won. Hope they keep this up and stay up.

WhiteHartLane · 18/10/2021 11:31

Hope the Newcastle fan who was taken unwell yesterday is doing ok this morning.

Aside from that and the early Newcastle goal I really enjoyed that match. The scoreline didn't reflect the performance.
Not sure why the owners are dragging out sacking Steve Bruce - not being fair to him really. Maybe later today?

I went to see Gillingham v Sunderland at Priestfield Saturday (1st time since the 2019/20 season was suspended) - again really enjoyed the match (Gills lost but played surprisingly very well). It was good to be back Football

DuncinToffee · 19/10/2021 12:02

The latest news on the fan was that he was stable in hospital, the quick reaction probably saved his life.
You have to feel sorry for Bruce and the way he is being treated now, I wouldn't blame him if he just decided to walk. The same names are bandied out for replacing him, Howe, Martinez, Gerard, Emery so there isn't a lot of choice.

We seem to have lost Doucoure now to injury, broken foot apparently Sad

OP posts:
burblish · 20/10/2021 12:41

Least surprising development of the season so far: Bruce is out. I wonder who they will bring in to replace him? Gerrard’s name is being bandied about a lot but I would find that a very surprising move.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 20/10/2021 13:52

I dont think be Gerrard. Seems a risky move. Know done well at Celtic but league is way way more pressured it seems..and new owners and all.

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2021 15:08

Howe, Fonseca and Favre seem to be mentioned the most at the moment. I think Gerrard is mostly a twitter rumour.

And Bruce got a nice pay-off.

Man U
Chelsea, Citeh, used to be Leeds but time to give it up .
Given up on did.
We do not play like a team. We are a bunch of individuals with good vibes and flash hair cuts. We need a Def midfielder with vision. And spirit.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 23/10/2021 16:22

Oh I thought we would win.. didnt think quite that many. I hope Norwich do manage a actual win this season. Can't see them staying up however unless something huge changes

DuncinToffee · 23/10/2021 18:05

I don't know what to say other than wtf just happened Angry

The revenge of Josh King or the curse of Iwobi

Good to see the decision to rest the Spurs starting 11 midweek was the correct one Grin

This is embarrassing for Utd, 5-0 down at home to Liverpool! Taxi for Ole?

DuncinToffee · 24/10/2021 18:34

Why did they stop at 5, one more goal and we"d moved into 7th place Grin

OP posts:
Oblomov21 · 24/10/2021 18:49

Spurs were so awful against West Ham.

Enjoyed the Man U v Liverpool 0-5 match.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 24/10/2021 18:50

Ohhhh dear. They keep saying Ole will be kept and then this happens. I get their fans confusion even though they won midweek they went 2-0 down..why play the same team...

Even though wasn't so much aware of the while thing at the time being young.. sad that it's been this week 25 years since Matthew Harding. Time flies. Left a mark

burblish · 24/10/2021 18:58

As a Liverpool fan… I definitely want Ole to stay!

Pan2 · 24/10/2021 19:22

Well that was unpleasant. From every viepoint.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 30/10/2021 22:32

I dont think its Man U having a crisis now..back to Spurs. Shame cause he seems a nice manager but just not really happening..

WhiteHartLane · 31/10/2021 10:06

I don't like the "sacking managers after a few games" culture, however Nuno's appointment has been a disaster - we all know he was only appointed due to other preferred managers turning the job down. I like him as a person and he had a good couple of years with Wolves, but he has to go. I would put Mason back in charge temporarily - if nothing else the football would at least be better to watch.

Regarding Man Utd I still think Ole will go, the win yesterday against an incredibly poor Spurs is just delaying the inevitable.

burblish · 31/10/2021 10:21

Yep, I like Nuno a lot and thought it was odd/a shame that he and Wolves parted company, as he had them punching above their weight much of the time (another example of a club’s board of directors with delusions of grandeur?). He just doesn’t feel like the right fit for Spurs. The fact that Spurs have had major issues for a while really doesn’t help, either. They should have kept faith with Pochettino - hard to see why any manager of comparable stature would be tempted by Spurs right now.
