WTF is this on my foof?!

Woke up with this lump just below the crease where my belly starts. It's redder/ purple IRL. It's not sore when I leave it alone. I've prodded it and pulled out some hairs and now it's stinging a bit. When I squeezed it clear liquid beaded up where I'd just pulled the hair out. It looks like there's a black dot in there. What is this and what do I do? I'm a bit worried it's turning into a boil...

Hot bath, hot flannels and id leave well alone. I had one a couple of months ago and it was gone within a week.

mix bicrb of soda into a paste n slap on,cover..or the inside of a banana skin...?

I would leave it alone. They disappear after a while and if you prod too much it may leave a scar.

Try a zitsticker on it - you need the ones with the micro darts. That reduces any swelling/infection under the skin then the the hair should pop out easily

I’m with the hot flannel brigade, as hot as you can stand and do it repeatedly. One of my closest friends is a dr and he gave me this advice years ago - works a treat!

Tweezers into the hole and you will grab the hair that is almost certainly in there

I'd have been in at that with a scalpel, stinging or no stinging 😂

Agree with the hot flannel suggestions. As hot as you can handle and do it at least a few times per day, to open up that pore. If you have any tea-tree oil, pop a drop of that on the flannel too as that'll kill any bacteria and help prevent infection.

What's with all the hot flannel stuff? It's an in growing hair. So you piff it. Wash your hands first and squeeze it out. Come back and show us the picture of the 5cm hair that is trapped in there!

I had one recently, hot as you can stand water on cottons wool/flannel and hold it tgere and repeat a couple of times. Don't squeeze again. Should look much better by morning

The heat opens up the pore, to make it easier for whatever the heck is in there, be it a hair or other matter, to get out.

OP I get these allll the time, no worries. Hot sponge and see if the hair comes closer to the surface.

Sounds weird, but sugar and soap mixed together into a paste (Bar soap, not liquid - you just grate a couple of teaspoons of the bar of of soap and mash it together with an equal amount of sugar with a fork).Use an old-school soap like Sunlight Soap (if you can get that where you live - check out the ones from the laundry or dishwashing section of the supermarket.) They contain more lye and will set off more chemical reaction with the sugar to be a better drawing paste.

All soap contains lye… it is a very old school drawing ointment that genuinely works. You don’t leave it on overnight, btw… Just for an hour.

ooooh -ppps.realise my earlier suggestion is for skelfs. dunno if same deal for hair.kinda think even if i was capable of self restraint-ignore/let run its curse be bottom of list of things to try.. .as such my heid thinks you prob gonna want to numb\isolate area.(ice cube) what bout if get like a wee plaastic bottle-lick the top n then hold over area-squeeze bottle n diy suction result?...see if that helps drag it out-failing that.....im also a great believer in vinegar........(?)

My first thought was ingrown hair too.

My ex had one and it looked just like that. As a sporner himself he was happy for me to have a bit of a poke and we thought it was just a nasty zit as some pus came out and that was that. But it didnt go. So had a good close look and pulled out two hairs. One about half an inch and one was three inches long, it just kept coming! Used a sterilised needle as they were quite far down.

To our lasting regret, we lost the photo we took of the hairs when our pc had a major meltdow (literally). If my experience of that is anything to go by, you wont be able to do it yourself. It was on his jawline.

ETA when we had another couple of goes as the "zit" wasnt going, it was clear liquid that came out.

Get some sharp pointy tweezers, sterilise them, (vodka or handgel). Pull the skin tight and give it a good stabbing.

Then use the tweezers to squeeze the hell out of it.
