WTF is this on my foof?!

Woke up with this lump just below the crease where my belly starts. It's redder/ purple IRL. It's not sore when I leave it alone. I've prodded it and pulled out some hairs and now it's stinging a bit. When I squeezed it clear liquid beaded up where I'd just pulled the hair out. It looks like there's a black dot in there. What is this and what do I do? I'm a bit worried it's turning into a boil...

Try putting a big blob of Germolene on it and covering with a large plaster. Might draw it out.

I would leave it alone. They disappear after a while and if you prod too much it may leave a scar.

what’s a sporner?

Porn....you know
Spot Porn.....videos and photos of major spot, boil and black head extractions. Personally I am very much a fan of the monster blackhead extractions.

PlasticineKing · 31/12/2024 00:53

I do get this on occasion and the bruising you’ve described is normal IME. It’s very delicate skin!

I would try my hardest not to squeeze yet. Leaving a few days will make it easier/quicker to squeeze as it will be “ready”

I should say I find my own advice hard to follow!

Some advice from Holland & Barrett of all places!Info

OMG I'm so jealous! That looks fantastic 😆.

Get some sharp pointy tweezers, sterilise them, (vodka or handgel). Pull the skin tight and give it a good stabbing.

Then use the tweezers to squeeze the hell out of it.

(Take a photo, post on here...)

Repeat as often as desired 😁

Handgel?! Did you never use gel on your hands during covid only for it to tell you about that cut on your hand you didnt know you had?!

Boiling them is by far the safest way.

Whitefluffycloud · 31/12/2024 00:56

Joking aside, if you can see a gp tomorrow, I was previously prescribed furoate cream which reduced the inflammation and the hair fell out unaided. It all went down quickly.

Tried two pharmacies today and it was OOS in both, one said it hadn't been available for over a year. Do you know why this might be?

ThatKhakiMoose · 31/12/2024 01:05

Oh, I've had a million of those. It's an ingrown hair. Scratch the top off and you'll see it. Or squeeze it off.

Fromthebirdsnest · 31/12/2024 01:27

Go to a Dr babe not mumnet, but it's probably an ingrowing hair, it can get infected so see your gp or pharmacy

CrowleyKitten · 31/12/2024 01:35

likely an ingrown hair, but keep an eye out for them showing up under boobs, under arms, thighs etc.
if you get more of them in those kind of areas, it could be Hidradenitis Suppurativa, which also presents as boils like this.
a tip from the HS community, putting vicks vaporub or an own brand version on it can help bring the infection to the surface. and I can't see why that wouldn't help if it's just an ingrown hair either. warm compresses, a nice warm bath, kaolin poultice or similar may all help.

CrowleyKitten · 31/12/2024 01:39

oh, and hydrocolloidal dressings. the cheapest ones to get are sold as blister plasters, but it's the same thing. again, they really help draw pus to the surface.

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 31/12/2024 02:51

Op put salt into hot water or have a bath with salt in it That will clean it out and prevent any infection.

Alondra · 31/12/2024 03:45

It's an ingrown hair. DON'T squeeze it, you'll make it worse, specially in that sensitive area.

I'm a huge advocate of tea tree oil. The stuff truly works for a wide range of skin conditions. Put a few drops on a cotton wool and apply twice a day. It'll disappear in a couple of weeks.

Otherwise, go to the chemist and get a cream for ingrown hairs.

I must admit, when I read the title, I thought it was a spelling error and expected to see something on your foot! 😬

Have you tried the hot flannel?
You could also try magnesium sulphate cream to help draw it out.

Also foot. Was not prepared.

marmia1234 · 31/12/2024 04:03

I'd be scratching the shite out of that , hope to find something inside, retrieve with tweezers, then pour on Isocol. ( I know I'm weird { disclimer it says not to put on open wounds} but I've done it to myself and the kids and we never got an infection). The children are now adults and won't go near the stuff . Wimps.

beetr00 · 31/12/2024 04:44

just fyi @Whar

magnesium sulphate paste

in stock here

or here

Epsom salt is also known as magnesium sulphate

scroll down to second paragraph, instructions on how to make a paste

Add one teaspoon of Epsom salt to a cup of hot water until it dissolves, then chill the solution in the fridge for around 20 minutes to make a paste. Clean the area of skin that is sore and pat dry before applying the paste.

itsgettingweird · 31/12/2024 05:18

I've got mag sulphate for exactly the reason above.

Just sit in the bath when you remove the plaster because a good old pube wax is not gentle 😂

Hskatkat · 30/12/2024 22:31

@Whar do you have anyone who would be willing to have a closer look for you?
They will be able to access it easier than you

Her roof or her foof?

I find exfoliating for a couple of days with glycolic pads (Nip+Fab or Boots own brand) brings the hair out.

Toothtroubles76 · 19/07/2025 21:43

I cant believe people put pictures of their private parts on a public website that can be accessed by absolutely anyone

Stripeyanddotty · 19/07/2025 21:46

@Toothtroubles76

Are you new to MN?

BearBuggy · 19/07/2025 21:49

Ive had this for about 3 years. The black but disappeared so it’s just white. No amount of hotel flannels will shift it

Flannelfeet · 19/07/2025 22:04

Ingrown hair, love it when its ready to squeeze out and a massive hair comes out all curled up.

Do you really think she could be identified by that picture?
