My dd aged 12 has an ingrowing hair on her thigh. It’s become infected and the GP gave her penicillin yesterday. Today it looks worse Confused

Will it pop soon? Disappear? She can’t walk properly, it hurts her too much...

Wow! If that was me I'd put a hot cloth on it or have a hot bath and give it a little prod, there must be a long hair trapped inside. As its your dd though, probably best left alone. Looks sore

Justbookedasummmerholiday · 19/11/2017 17:18

Hot flannel, squeeze and some sudocrem on.

MissBeehiving · 19/11/2017 17:30

Hot flannel and a squeeze - you can see the hair

DullAndOld · 19/11/2017 17:33

ooh that does look savage.
Mag Sulph, hot flannel?

QuestionableMouse · 19/11/2017 17:36

It won't heal until you can get whatever is inside out. Hot cloth, good squeeze and then a plaster. Repeat until the hair pops out or can be seen/removed.

Saying that, I'd be surprised if it was just a hair... Any chance it could be a bite?

SauvignonBlanche · 19/11/2017 17:38

Wow! That looks ready to pop.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/11/2017 17:41

Christ, I can hear that creaking from here!

MissBeehiving · 19/11/2017 17:42

Could we have photos if possible please 🙂

PollytheDolly · 19/11/2017 17:44

Oooooooooooooo

Poor DD though Cake

cupofteaplease · 19/11/2017 17:44

Thanks, I knew guys would appreciate it, I mean, give good advice! She doesn’t want to touch it so we’ll have to wait!

OP posts:
MissBeehiving · 19/11/2017 17:46

god, my fingers are itching to squeeze it

Taylor22 · 19/11/2017 17:46

I'm sorry she doesn't want to touch it?!?!

How do you create a child with such outstanding self control?!

EduCated · 19/11/2017 17:47

Would she at the least accept a hot flannel or a hot bath?

ineedamoreadultieradult · 19/11/2017 17:50

Wow that is amazing! Who are these people who won't pop things. She is so lucky to have such a perfect opportunity in a really easy to reach place! I'll come pop it for her if she likes. Failing that it is so close it might pop itself just from a hot flannel on there.

MissBeehiving · 19/11/2017 17:52

A hot bath would soften it up. A more obsessed parent might accidentally scratch the top off whilst examining it.

Shouldileavethedogs · 19/11/2017 18:00

Pop it pop it pop it

cupofteaplease · 19/11/2017 18:00

She won’t let me near it! She knows me too well obviously Wink

Fruitcocktail6 · 19/11/2017 18:04

It needs to be pulled out! Why didn't the gp remove it?!

picklemepopcorn · 19/11/2017 18:15

Give her a tweezers and tell her if she can pull the little hair out it will get better quicker. Make it a challenge! Tell her to have a bath first, and give it a rub with a flannel.

I can’t believe what people go to the doctor and get antibiotics for these days. Not a criticism of you- the advice seems so over the top these days. It was a mum task in my day...

cupofteaplease · 19/11/2017 18:28

picklemepopcorn it was the pharmacist who advised GP as it was clearly infected...

She’s put a hot flannel on it, and my goodness, has it popped!

Is it completely out, was there a core? Hope all the pain has gone now.

MissBeehiving · 19/11/2017 18:35

Ooh 😊 is the dark bit-in the-middle, the hair?
