This thread is for the 100 MNers and bloggers who attended the No7 returning to work with confidence event on Monday 27th March. Thanks so much for coming along, we hope you enjoyed it! The event was all about “returning to work with confidence” and was for those parents who had either recently gone back to work after a break for children or who are planning a return.

You can view our Facebook Live Stream here

Here’s what No7 had to say about the event:

"At No7 we believe that when a woman feels in control she has the confidence to go out and do anything and so we are delighted to have the opportunity to support MNers and bloggers who are returning to work. We know that beauty for many women is about more than looking pretty which is why we’d love to give MNers the chance to hear from some inspirational women on how they faced getting back in to the workplace as well as share some top tips from our No7 advisers on quick ways to get their make up just right - especially in those early days back at work when you're juggling a million things at once and getting into a new routine."

Attendees:
Below are a few feedback questions for you to answer - if you have any more comments, please feel free to add them to your response. Do share your story using #No7Ready. If you are a blogger, we'd love to see you post a link to your blog post on this thread.

Why did you want to attend the event? What’s your current working status?
What did you learn from the event?
What did you enjoy about it?
Did it inspire you/give you confidence? If yes, in what ways?

All those who share feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a £300 Boots voucher. We'd also love attendees to share their thoughts on social media using #No7Ready.

Non attendees:
To be in with a chance of winning a No7 hamper (worth £150), please tell us what makes you feel confident every day. This can be literally anything at all, even if it’s a very small thing such as your morning coffee to wake you up! Everyone who does so will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win the goodies!

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draws!

JOY AT BEING ALIVE AND LIVING IN THE UK

Non-attendee.

I find that I feel confident when my skin is clear. I suffer from hormonal break-outs of acne, so I rely on my concealer to give me more confidence.

Signoritawhocansway · 06/04/2017 13:34

I am not working at present, but keeping on top of housework, child arrangements, household admin etc makes me feel confident that I am still a great manager!

NeverTwerkNaked · 06/04/2017 17:27

A random one but I have a really hectic life, balancing kids and work, and I was struggling to fit in time to exercise. Now I park further away and then jog into work and then shower. I feel so much more energised and ready for whatever work throws at me.

merliquin · 06/04/2017 19:37

Why did you want to attend the event? -
Considering a change of career as struggling to balance work and family life.

What’s your current working status? - part time.

What did you learn from the event? - that women, particularly mothers, are still seen as second-class citizens in the work place. That it is okay to fight for flexible working. That so many women face the same struggles and obstacles as I do.

What did you enjoy about it? Everything! Hearing the advice and experiences of the fantastic panel; meeting other working mothers; having my make up done by a super-friendly No7 lady and being given product advice; the generous man who made sure the fizz was flowing all evening 😉
Did it inspire you/give you confidence? If yes, in what ways? Yes. It made me feel it was not just okay to fight for flexibility at work but that it was very much necessary. It also made me feel quite depressed that in 2017 we were having these conversations.

Thank you Mumsnet for an interesting and enjoyable evening and plenty of food for thought.

I feel confident when I've had a (rare) good night's sleep. I feel so much happier and more ready to take on the day's challenges.

For me a good lip gloss and perfume helps me to feel confident and able to tackle the day!

MumOnBus · 06/04/2017 22:27

What makes me confident every day? Knowing that I will give my best at whatever the day throws at me, that it doesn't really matter if I take a wrong decision, because I have the courage to take decisions! That even if things may go wrong, I would have learned something from it and will still have the respect of my colleagues and the trust of my boss.

Minnibix · 06/04/2017 22:31

I feel confident when my skin looks good, No7 works very well for me. It gives me the confidence to face the day with a smile

A deodorant that keeps me fresh!

Being 'me' helps me feel confident. During the baby years I started to act and dress how I thought a 'Mum' should do. Going back to work made me realise that I was still a person in my own right - and that I should be true to myself.

giveovermypreciousss · 07/04/2017 11:12

Why did you want to attend the event? To learn hiw to apply foundation and primer etc
What’s your current working status? SAHM and part time student
What did you learn from the event? That the world does seem to have a negative view on mothers which means we are facing an uphill struggle to get back into work. At the same time as being treated poorly for being a sahm. I had previously thought it had been bad luck when job interviews I attended became obsessed with the fact I am a mother. Questions asked 'where are your children now? Who will care for them? Your baby is too young for you to go to work! '
What did you enjoy about it? All of it.
Did it inspire you/give you confidence? If yes, in what ways? Yes it gave me confidence as I often get with make up. However I cant really be inspired that a world still expects women to wear make up to look good enough for work. Its in the same league as the expectation of high heels and skirts.

PinkLisianthus · 07/04/2017 12:04

I really enjoyed the event - it was good to hear the experience of other women and made me realise how lucky I had been with my employer.
I had been expecting more practical tips on going back into the workplace - I really struggled with managing my time at first but after 3 months have a pretty good routine in place.
It was nice to have a proper makeover too - I've since purchased the foundation that was recommended as well as proper brushes, so my makeup stays on all day instead of sliding off my face by about 11am. Grin

meggysar · 07/04/2017 19:37

Non-attendee. Putting on a good quality lipstick makes me feel confident and ready for the day.

BLISS2004 · 07/04/2017 21:53

Non attendee.
I can't go out without my red lipstick. It doubles as a blusher too.
Once I put on my red lipstick, I feel more confident because I know I look better than without it.

annmariec · 07/04/2017 22:35

Unfortunately I didn't get to attend but the thing that makes me feel confident is having a good night's sleep waking up fresh and full of energy

Punkatheart · 07/04/2017 23:45

I like to speak to my daughter every day. It's fantastic to think that no matter what I look like, I produced a gorgeous person like her....

123julie321 · 08/04/2017 01:24

I'm a non-attendee! A bright red bold lipstick makes me confident :) x

defineme · 08/04/2017 08:04

What makes me confident every morning is walking the dog as soon as I wake up.
I love the fresh air and it also gets my muscles moving after being in bed.
It just feels like my day is off to a great start.

lucyrobinson · 08/04/2017 09:08

Mine is having my hair nice and straight. Cant stand my hair messy.

sparky771177 · 08/04/2017 13:56

A Big cup of coffee in the morning.😁

bugzie92 · 08/04/2017 16:01

For me its getting up, having a nice hot shower and going for a run! it always makes me feel better in terms of health, and confidence. Taking up running is one of the best things I ever did! it makes me ready for the day ahead.

Jessiecat27 · 08/04/2017 18:49

I didn't attend the conference but I feel confident everyday as my wonderful OH is always telling me how beautiful I am, even when I'm not feeling my best! I also draw on my eyebrows everyday which really helps as mine have always been so sparse!
