Ahead of the UK release of new film Florence Foster Jenkins on 6th May, around 35 Mumsnetters attended a special preview of the film with a guest. Read the comments below for their reviews.

NON ATTENDEES If you didn’t attend, in the true spirit of Florence, we would love to hear about the 'talents' you think you have but in reality you know you're not that good at but do anyway because you love them or even the 'talents' your DC have which only a parent would really love - add your comment below and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice and a film poster signed by Meryl Streep.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:
“Starring Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg and directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen), the hilarious and moving new comedy drama FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS is the inspirational true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The film celebrates the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere. The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Grant), an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, St Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge.”

You can view the trailer for the film below:

Non tester. When I sing it sounds good in my head but I'm fairly sure it doesn't to anyone else!

gggg1 · 04/05/2016 11:44

Non-tester

My 3 year old loves to sing, she may not be the most tuneful singer but certainly makes up for it with her passion and the volume! My 9 month old is currently practising his climbing and cruising skills!

mickaul232 · 04/05/2016 11:51

I love playing darts but often miss the board entirely

planepointer · 04/05/2016 11:56

I'm a terrible singer, but I love to sing along to my favourite tracks - strictly when I'm home alone or by myself in the car!

bridge16 · 04/05/2016 12:08

I absolutely love to bake but i am forever burning things or messing it up but i just love doing it so i carry on and hope for the best :-)

BellaWella86 · 04/05/2016 13:16

I'd like to think I was really good at cooking. I LOVE it, but my culinary talents leave a lot to be desired. Don't get me wrong, they taste OK but presentation wise... I won't be winning (or even getting on...) The Bake-Off anytime soon!

glennamy · 04/05/2016 13:29

Has to be my singing in the car, great when the children are young but when they grow they tell you to 'stop it' as it is embarrassing and an awful noise... :)

Ikea1234 · 04/05/2016 15:12

I'm like Florence, and think I'm a great singer. My son only has two words when I start though: please don't.

stefalfie11 · 04/05/2016 15:32

Singing! I know that I am completely tone deaf and sound more like a screeching animal when I sing but i really enjoy it when im in the car or when a good song comes on on the radio.

I think I'm talented at writing songs for Eurovision but apparently they are all rubbish (which lets face it fits so I must be talented haha). My daughter has an awful talent that she learnt from the boys next door and insists on doing all the time now though - making a farting sound with her armpit!! I cringe

jodiecrossley1 · 04/05/2016 15:52

My daughter loves my singing and dancing but nobody else does!

fazkin · 04/05/2016 16:16

I reckon its baking for me - but I still love doing it so carry on

EmmaMeach2 · 04/05/2016 16:35

Non tester - looks great though so wish I had been

I think I'm a great singer but when I'm singing in the car my 4 year old once told me to shhhh because I was hurting his ears and it's not kind to hurt someone's ears! Needless to say I now sing louder

Bsummers · 04/05/2016 17:47

I love singing, I was in the choir for a few years back in school and then suddenly my voice started sounding terrible! I still love singing and I adore music, but I know I sound awful!

libra101 · 04/05/2016 18:41

A non tester.
My greatest - as yet, undiscovered - talent is as an artist!

Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Monet could only dream of having my great expertise and skill.

And the art which doesn't look quite right - the wonky buildings, crooked towers, are examples of my abstract pieces. Picasso would be envious!
Am just going to pull all the covers off the bed, am feeling inspired.

Watch out Tracey Emin!

Mozarmstrong · 04/05/2016 19:13

Very interesting film sensitive funny. I give 5 star Ward. I went with my daughter. I try to help in the community by little things being polite. Opening doors. Giving up my seat on public transport. Sometimes it works sometimes well it doesn't people are doo wary and I understand this.

stewaris · 04/05/2016 19:39

I like to draw and paint and I think I'm really good at it. Unfortunately, I know the truth is I'm truly appalling but I do love it and still dream of being discovered as a modern day Picasso. My children say I should stick to the day job!

Marg2k8 · 04/05/2016 19:44

I like to think I'm good at drawing, but I really know I'm rubbish at it.

littleme96 · 04/05/2016 19:46

Non tester here although film looks great!

As per the film, I think I am a fairly decent singer when I perform sing in the car. Realistically I know I am not tone deaf, but am certainly distinctly average! As long as I enjoy it though eh!?

ricola1 · 04/05/2016 20:34

Brilliant film and brilliantly acted. 5 star. Saw with my mum who also loved it. I'm rubbish at ironing but I do it because I have to

JoCar72 · 04/05/2016 21:01

Like Florence Foster Jenkins my talent is singing but also like Florence it's best confined to the shower cubicle ;)

hayls83 · 04/05/2016 21:19

Non-attendee
I love to sing despite sounding like a drowned cat :)

MiserableMe1 · 04/05/2016 21:44

Non-attendee I love drawing and im not very good at all but i'd love to be as good as banksy Grin

shivbrown · 04/05/2016 21:51

I Love drawing i think im great but my toddler could draw better than me :) x

mdanie89 · 04/05/2016 22:05

Like Florence, I think I can sing--but my students and nieces have let me know many times that this is not the case by covering their ears when I sing! I also thought I could still speak French, but the skill seems to have gone and a lot of English and Spanish seem to poke in randomly!
