Mumsnet users share how they relax when they have 10 minutes spare with Nintendo

For parents, little moments of relaxation can be few and far between, if they happen at all! Reaching the bottom of your never-ending to-do list is a good enough excuse for a little celebration to cherish the spare moment of having some me-time. With this in mind, Nintendo would like to hear how you relax when you have a few minutes to spare.

Here’s what Nintendo has to say: “It’s not easy to switch off when you’ve had a hectic day but it is important to spend some precious moments on yourself even if that means ten minutes with a cup of tea on the sofa. But what if you could spend those ten minutes escaping to a deserted island? Sit back and relax in a calming world that enjoys the slower pace of life whilst you build up your island however you want in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

What do you do to relax when you have as little as 10 minutes to spare? Do you take the opportunity to have a quick power nap before you’re inevitably interrupted by your babbling toddler or disgruntled teenager? Perhaps you call your friend for a well needed gossip catch-up? Or maybe you pick up and dust off that book you bought months ago which you have never got around to reading?

Whether you go for a head-clearing walk, scroll through social media or play a quick video game, share on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I sit down with a cup of tea and catch up with news and messages on my phone.

purplecorkheart · 09/11/2020 19:06

Tik toc is my guilty pleasure (watching not recording). I have learned so many cooking tips/interview skill and life hacks that actually work.

ButterflyBitch · 09/11/2020 20:33

Cup of tea and I play the Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery game Blush it’s the only computer game Ive gone back to. Started playing during lockdown, think it was a bit of escapism.

My favourite thing to do when I can relax is daydream. Usually along the lines of a Lottery win...Xmas Grin

DillieDoily · 10/11/2020 07:29

I have a sit down and have a mindless scroll through Facebook or if I have a spare half hour I watch some mindless TV like Neighbours

ohdannyboy · 10/11/2020 09:54

When/if I receive 10 minutes downtime, I would play my favourite classical music CD and put on my headphones and relax.

mummy81 · 10/11/2020 11:24

A quick cup of tea and a read of my book of the moment or the news.

TamingToddler · 10/11/2020 11:34

Cup of coffee, and then a scroll through online shops adding stuff to my basket that I know full well I'll never buy Grin

TaysteesGal · 10/11/2020 14:14

I have a few different things, usually a bit of sewing or playing sims on the pc :D

Wonderland18 · 10/11/2020 18:02

I love crafting and gaming when I get the chance. Music on in the background.

pinkpetal2 · 10/11/2020 19:19

Bubble bath and I take a bar of chocolate in with me Wink

quizqueen · 11/11/2020 02:09

I'm a member of a pub quiz team so I have facts books in every room, especially the loo, so I can sit quietly for a few minutes and go through a few pages for revision.

manybirdsnests · 11/11/2020 07:39

I echo the mindless scrolling of pps. - Mumsnet or Twitter are my first choices.
Ideally I'll be lying down in bed. As long as I can resist the urge to shut my eyes...

kitschplease · 11/11/2020 10:26

Coffee and a scroll through Mumsnet or Instagram - I find it relaxing to read about how to organise or clean, rather than actually do anything about organising or cleaning!

PeachyB · 11/11/2020 12:47

My little one is 3 weeks old so 10 minutes to myself includes drinking a hot cup of tea, water our poor neglected house plants and if I’m lucky listen to a mindfulness app!

Cocopogo · 11/11/2020 13:42

Check my Pokémon Go app, gotta catch em all!

Cocopogo · 11/11/2020 13:44

If I won the £100 voucher I’d put it towards buying a Switch and Pokemon game. Need Meltan candies!

Mamadothe · 11/11/2020 14:18

I like to lay on my bed and fly away into a good book

claza93 · 11/11/2020 20:07

I hide in my bedroom with a mug of tea, a bar of dairy milk and catch up on my fav bloggers

LzzyHale · 11/11/2020 21:40

Cup of tea, chocolate biscuit, magazine

copperoliver · 11/11/2020 21:59

Mumsnet. X

Kijaji · 12/11/2020 01:51

I treat myself to a Tassimo and check the latest news/Facebook posts or look at what I can buy for Xmas pressies at the moment!

musicposy · 13/11/2020 19:05

Animal Crossing - I’ve been obsesssed with it since it came out in March (and before - I have all the games going right back to GameCube).

But it’s never only 10 minutes! It’s hours!

If I genuinely know I’ve only got 10 mins I’m more likely to do mumsnet or a quick solitaire or bubble pop game - something that requires only minimal input.
