Family skincare tips shared with La Roche-Posay

Keeping your family’s skin healthy can be difficult, particularly once the winter chill sets in. With that in mind, La Roche-Posay would like to hear about the skincare tips you have.

Here’s what La Roche-Posay has to say: “Extreme temperatures, a lack of humidity in the air and even strong wind can weaken the protective layer of the skin, causing it to lose natural moisture. This is why you tend to notice even more dry or sensitive skin in winter. It is key to pay attention to these signs and take extra care of your family’s skin during this time of the year. We would love to understand what winter skin concerns you and your family have, and how you are dealing with them”

Do you have a skincare routine that works for the whole family? Maybe you have ‘hero’ products that seem to do everything for everyone? Does La Roche-Posay feature on your family’s skincare routine? Perhaps you have tips on things to avoid to keep your skin healthy?

Whatever your family skincare tips, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I only bath them once a week

lovemyflipflops · 28/02/2020 08:59

Fragrance free products, and using a baby lotion (for the whole family) after bathing, smells great and keeps our skin moisturised in the winter months when the central heating is on all day, and keep hydrated.

kittykomp · 28/02/2020 13:56

we use sun cream every day.

Boredoftherain · 28/02/2020 19:11

Sunscreen should be used on exposed skin all times of the year, even on overcast and rainy days. We wash with a sulfate-and-paraben-free body wash and moisturise daily. I have quite an extensive skincare routine for myself, but DD is just sunscreen and moisturiser.

Hittapotamus · 28/02/2020 20:10

We all have different products for our different skincare needs.

DH has Vaseline white and aloe vera for heavy/light moisturising every day.

DD1 has DH's Vaseline white or La Roche-Posay.

DD2 has Aveeno green

I have Dermalogica Active Moist for my face and La Roche-Posay or Vaseline aloe vera for my legs.

In summer I use Body Shop coconut body butter on my legs to make them shimmer and smell of summer.

Ange211 · 28/02/2020 21:16

We all wear a mousturising sunscreen every day as we're outdoors a lot & I find it help protect from the effects of the weather.

Sleepybumble · 28/02/2020 23:02

We limit bath time if someone has dry skin and use aveeno. Other than that, bath every night with minimal products. Always use high factor sun protection during summer.

MonsterRehab23 · 28/02/2020 23:20

Keep it simple for the kids. Bit of gentle soap and water for their faces all year round and spf in summer. I use spf 50 most days and coconut oil several times per week- really helps with winter dryness

LRP cleanser is very good for my sensitive, dry, eczema prone skin.

I use Ecover or Surcare in the washing machine and no fabric conditioner. I stock up when it’s on offer or refill at the eco shop. I wash my pillows regularly.

I have had eczema all my life. I often put porridge oats in a cloth tied with a hair bobble in my bath. Recently I bought a different brand of oats and it cleared the severe eczema on my back almost immediately! I am so pleased not to have an itchy, red back any more. I would recommend you try this and experiment with different oats to see if it makes a difference.

My lips get really dry in the winter so I invest in good quality lip balms. Elizabeth Arden is worth the money as dry, chapped lips can be very sore and unsightly.

Eating well, drinking water, getting enough sleep, relaxing and exercising all make a difference to skin health too in my opinion. Walking is so good for mental health but the wind can dry out your skin. I often use coconut oil on my face after a long walk.

I try not to have the heating on too much and not drink too much alcohol as my skin doesn’t like it.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 29/02/2020 01:09

Always use suncream when necessary and make sure it's applied all over

Make sure we use something on lips all year round but especially during winter as we are all prone to badly chapped lips which lead to cold sores.

WilmaJean · 29/02/2020 03:59

Non bio washing powder as some
Members of the household have sensitive skin.
Sunscreen in summer (although all year in my facial moisturiser).
Hand cream available (especially in winter).
Always moisturise after a bath or shower. We love using La Roche Possay on our 2 year old to keep any dry skin at bay.

m0jit0 · 29/02/2020 06:35

Sun cream in the summer, aveeno cream if skin is dry and mild bath "soap" for cleaning.

Penhaligon · 29/02/2020 08:42

Both my children have eczema prone sensitive skin so we use oilatum in the bath and child's farm moisturiser. My skin is still prone to being spotty which is depressing in your 30s. I've just started to use La Roche Posay Efaclar duo and I'm hopeful it will have an impact on my skin.

Kleptronic · 29/02/2020 08:58

I use whatever needs using up from various beauty boxes, but I think this is no good because my skin is terrible, dry, flakey and yet incredibly spotty, despite using an LED light mask daily.

I should probable cut it all out to one thing.

HoneywithLemon · 29/02/2020 09:02

We all use Biore baking soda foaming cleanser for blemished skin. Very gentle and suits the whole family.

PickledChicory · 29/02/2020 09:08

No massive changes here. If v cold when go out some vaseline on cheeks for v wee ones. We use suncream when needed in the summer. I like the stuff that lasts all day, saves mess and fuss.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 29/02/2020 09:14

My daughter had terrible eczema - until we started using LRP in the bath and moisturiser afterwards

Her skin is now baby soft! It's amazing - the transformation has been incredible and she no longer spends hours itching and not being able to sleep

It's changed her life, and mine!

PhoneTwattery · 29/02/2020 09:46

As well as a good bathtime or shower routine (including always moisturising afterwards) don't neglect your vitamin intake and a good night's sleep.

Helsbells68 · 29/02/2020 10:20

There is no need to shower, bath or wash hair every day, it just strips the skin of its natural oils and we all use mild soaps. In the summer we keep covered up at all times.

decadance · 29/02/2020 11:53

We use suncream in the summer, and nivea moisturiser all year round.

Ratbagratty · 29/02/2020 12:26

A good quality suncream in the sun, aftersun if skin looks a bit dry and in the winter lots of moisturiser as 2 of us suffer from dry skin.

Asuwere · 29/02/2020 12:28

We all use sunscreen in summer but that's the only change we make. If any DCs skin starts getting dry, I remind them to drink more and it makes a huge difference.

ErinSophia · 29/02/2020 12:43

My whole family use the same skincare products, we have the same skin type so it makes sense to share the same products.

Jedstre · 29/02/2020 14:21

I use sunscreen every day because I use acids and retinoids in my skincare regime. I use La Roche posay moisturiser with niacinamide in as it helps with barrier function and helps me tolerate the retinoids. In the winter I’ve been using toleriane riche on the particularly dry areas of skin. A flexible approach to skin care works best I find. For the children good old soap and water works well enough now but I will introduce gentle facial products when appropriate. My husband has had a particularly difficult to treat area of eczema on his hands. I bought him some cicaplast B5 which has really cleared up the eczema and subsequently reduced the amount of steroid cream he is using.

glynda · 29/02/2020 18:09

Nappy cream is great for cuts, chapped lips and rough skin on feet. I always have a tub in the bathroom.
