Everyone needs a little boost now and then. We all have those frantically busy days - whether at work, at home taking care of the kids or just rushing around trying to keep all those proverbial plates spinning – and it’s easy to forget how to keep yourself well nourished and energised. Not only can making better nutritional choices help keep you energised, but also little emotional boosts such as listening to your favourite song can also have a huge effect on how we handle life’s demands and whatever the day throws at us! With that in mind Nairn’s would really like to know what gives you an energy boost?

Here’s what Nairn’s have to say: “Nairn’s are all about ‘grabbing life by the oats’ and over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you some exclusive, energising tips - we’d like to think it’s a pretty good fit considering just how naturally energising oats can be for you. You’ll find interviews with our inspiring and energetic ambassadors, expert advice from our resident nutritional therapist and loads more over on our website.

So, if you’ve got a go-to snack or energising habit that you swear by to keep you up and running, why not share it with the community? You could be lucky enough to win a hamper of incredible goodies from Nairn’s and friends, worth £150!”

What part of the day are you most likely to feel the need for an energy boost? What are the danger signs that your child’s energy is flagging? What foods or snacks do you give them to stop them getting ‘hangry’?! Do you get an energy boost from having a bit of family time? Maybe you get a boost from listening to your favourite playlist on your way to work? Would you say that exercise is what helps give you a boost? And if so what snacks do you eat to make sure you keep your energy going after exercise? What are your favourite breakfasts and lunches that help keep you going for the day? And what foods do you avoid that make you ‘crash’? How do you incorporate oats into your diet?

Whatever gives you an energy boost, share them on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a Nairn’s hamper worth £150 and one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Going for an early morning jog really gives me an energy kick for the rest of the day

Rachdayan · 15/05/2019 07:48

My morning coffee! Can’t function without it. Also having things planned to look forward to like holidays or a day out, a meal with friends etc

abigailflo7 · 15/05/2019 07:50

going on my rowing machine every day gives me an energy boost. I also take time out of my lunchtime at work go go on a walk.. Sets me up for the afternoon ahead. Eating healthily is all well and good but daily exercise is so very important

MimiJoy · 15/05/2019 07:55

My daily iron tablet!

Catmadroo · 15/05/2019 07:58

Chocolate lol!

I try to do regular exercise and dance classes give me a boost of energy and helps my mental health. and I also find being out in the sun gives me a boost too. My son has special needs and he doesn't really need a boost as he never stops, but when he is hungry he needs food right there and then to prevent a meltdown, out and about its quick things like cereal bars and at home he loves fruit, junk food and ice cream.

Cheese and oat cakes...It's a little treat that I allow myself and always perks me up

prwilson · 15/05/2019 07:58

A good night's sleep gives me more energy.

Ganne1 · 15/05/2019 08:06

I really do like Nairn's oatcakes, but what gives me a boost is the chance to just relax and enjoy some time to myself. That rarely happens!

ThemisA · 15/05/2019 08:12

Hot chocolate and an oatcake or wholewheat cracker

NICH7 · 15/05/2019 08:12

A late morning walk, followed by a small cup of coffee and some nuts or banana.

AR2012 · 15/05/2019 08:15

Afternoon nap 15-20 minutes.

Yaracuy · 15/05/2019 08:15

Coffee and more coffee. No milk, no sugar...just simply God Coffee

suzyq50 · 15/05/2019 08:18

The mid afternoon is my energy slump period & I'm trying to avoid quick fix sugar solutions so opt for greek yoghurt & a banana or berries of some sort. Sometimes hummus & carrots.

crispydragonfly · 15/05/2019 08:19

A swift walk in the fields with my dog. The fresh air, exercise and peace revitalise me.

Spices001 · 15/05/2019 08:23

Definitely fresh air & a walk gives me an energy boost!

DassDass · 15/05/2019 08:27

Coffee. Lots and lots and lots of coffee.

grannybiker · 15/05/2019 08:29

A bowl of cereal mid-morning works for me, particularly if I've only manage fruit for breakfast.

omgitslani · 15/05/2019 08:41

Having breakfast and the first coffee of the day! before that I do not quite feel human.

juju3 · 15/05/2019 08:43

A good hearty breakfast

amyhalliday1 · 15/05/2019 08:46

I love my food and try and eat well - especially in the morning for a boost as I'm a teacher!! I try and eat lots of eggs and brown toast for high protein

chris20201 · 15/05/2019 08:49

I usually have some oatcakes and houmous. That does the trick especially if washed down with a glass of cold milk

ABall · 15/05/2019 08:50

A pre breakfast run and a spot of yoga as a warm down. Preferably in the sunshine but bizarely, drizzle or light snow do it for me too.

LateMumma · 15/05/2019 08:53

A blast of fresh air and some protein work for me!
